@Hady8771 Hiya. Ok so that is basically a very long way of saying that they haven't proven anything. A link is not cause. Cause is cause. Etiology is cause. A test determines whether a physical abnormality exists. Quite simply, name the proven test (neurobiological, x-ray, genetic, your choice) which conclusively proves who does or does not have a mental disorder. Anything else is simply speculation. Not science and not medicine,

There is no biological test for dyslexia... does it mean dyslexia does not exist?
If so... than find me an explanation why some children cant for example read they'r own spelling even when they intelectual level is normal or hight and their familly is vell educated? If it's not an illnes than what?
@CapitanWafles The point is that it is not a medical disease if there is no medical test. Just because you can't figure out what it is that, by default, does not make it a medical disease.
This video doesn't make a lot of sense. She said that disorders are diseases; which, yeah, was probably not the best word, but that doesn't mean that she believes there are "tests" in psychiatry. You just put those words in her mouth.
Where did this woman come from? She is a doctor? Come on! She doesn't even know what a real disease is - well no psychiatrist really does anyways, they are just legal drug pushers.

The CCHR is doing an awesome job of exposing the utter intellectual and scientific VOID that is psychiatry. May they triumph in their pursuits. Fact: Today's psychiatrist is the decendant of the 1800's "mad-house" asylum keepers, who were entirely non-medical individuals--like today's unskilled, minimum-wage psych hospital "aide." Psychiatry--this joke of a "medical specialty"--would be the ultimate laugh if it weren't for all death and ruination it produces (and that is ALL it produces).
As someone that has been helped by Psychiatry I think the lies spread by the CCHR are disgusting. I have been treated on and off since I was young and I have never been electrocuted and I have never been tied down as you claim are what happens when you go to a phyciatist nor do I know anyone that has either. I have the doctors to thank for my current health and happiness.
yo xenujr aka: dumbass, the word is "electroshock" not "electrocuted" and the word is spelled psychiatrist not phyciatist. I suggest you retire as the poster child for psychiatry if this is the best you can do.
I don't care for psychiatrists; however, this video is bullshit & taken out of context! My boyfriend is bipolar & yes he needs medication. There is no cure but yes he can be treated for the rest of his life. This video shows how ignorant people are & how easy it is to sway them with inaccurate info. My boyfriend will have destructive manias lasting days (no sleep) then sleep 3 days straight without even eating. He can't control it! That's a disorder! It's genetic & biochemical, read up on it!
Actually there is no solid evidence that it's genetic or biochemical. Psychs (or any doctor for that instance) don't even know what a correct chemical balance of the brain is.
FireDragonTanya, I don't care for Psychiatrists either. And that sucks about your bf. But ask yourself this: if his diagnosis takes away all his resposibility for his behavior, isn't that a cop out? In the long run does that really help him with his problems? Lots of people struggle in life, but who benefits from turning away from lifes struggles and saying I have no control because it is biological or genetic? You can stay numb with drugs only so long. That shit catches up with you real fast.
@TheSurlybastard To play the devil's advocate: what of those individuals who say that psychiatry helped them, or, worse, the incredible number of people who have been duped by the pseudo and quasi-science of madness? Try having a cogent argument with either group, and you are sure to run directly into a wall. Nature and ignorance abhor a vacuum! psych meds are POISON and perpetuate more disease! IM a victim of emotional abuse as a child and this cannot be treated the same way as mental illness. therapy-good therapy if you can afford it might be better. I got off all psych drugs and went holistic and take various natural meds and am much better. I lost a ton of weight caused by the meds.drs thought dieting would help but it didnt. getting off the drugs and taking natural supplements are what made me loose the weight.
You have to read between the lines when you listen to or read data from the APA or psych pharmaceuticals. They really use semantics to go arond the issues while apparently addressing them. An example here. I actually think she is presenting this as proof that the validity of psychiatric disorders are real. First off, surveys are used all the time to obtain "public opinion" and really cant be trusted from a source with a vested interest such as psychiatry.
hrmm, If I am Depressed, I get high, and it makes me happier.
I wouldn't say it fixes an "imbalance" in my head, But it gets rid of my depression.
I would assume a Psychiatric drug is intended to do the same thing. If someone feels tense, they give a drug that is Proven to relieve tension. Or anxiety.
Each person can choose wither the side effects are worth the RISK (not all people have them) to get rid of their said problem.
Personally, I'm wondering why you don't show the whole video?
Each person can choose if the RISKS are explained to them! Psychiatrists don't give informed consent to their patients. Think a psychiatrist informs patients of all the FDA warnings for the drugs? Doubt it.
You're assuming that the drug is "proven"?
From WebMD article , Antidepressants No Better Than Placebo?: "Antidepressants were found to work no better than placebos, leading the researchers to conclude that most patients who take antidepressants probably shouldn't be on them."
1nodummy seems right. If it's a chemical problem, then it's a body illness/imbalance to be handled by a doctor or nutritionist, not a psychiatrist - they would handle MENTAL problems.
Maybe I'm missing something but if mental disorders are biological or "chemical imbalances" in the brain then wouldn't the treatment of these "diseases" be handled by nuerologists instead of psychiatrists?
We are inundated with psychobabble to keep us in enough confusion that we'll simply defer to the "experts" because we can't sift through the BS the APA propaganda they put out there.
The truth is, it's BS, and anyone who really decides to look will see that in short order.
Just goes to show you how crooked the psychiatric profession is and how all they can really do is prescribe dangerous drugs. The wife of a friend of mine killed both her kids while on Prozac, and she had never been violent before. Good job exposing these frauds!
Hear ye! Hear ye! Psychiatry is a white man's disease. You don't see oriental people defining every quirk of the human mind as an illness. There is no better counsel than family and friends, the ones who know you well.
If you believe the family system is broken in america, you are right. America is sick with social illnesses & needs to rebuild the foundation of family life.
Psychiatry is smug authority over your heart, mind, & soul. carolloving, author
The only real point here is that psychiatry has nothing to offer but labels and pills and both of these are generally useless if not outright destructive. Many psychiatrists freely admit this (as seen in the video) but the official stance (as also shown) is quite (intentionally) deceptive.
There are no specific tests for Rheumatoid Arthritis or Fybromyalgia yet they are diseases. This is true for many autoimmune disorders, so why can't it be the same for mental illness.
Actually there is...sed-rate tests or sedimentation rate tests which defines the speed in which blood componentry separates over time. Psychiatry on the other hand is a pseudo science still based on a cocaine addicts assumptions (Sigmund Fraud...oops I mean Freud).
Some disorders are permanent and can't be cured as of today, but there are ways to make them less severe.
So because psychiatry can't cure these people to 100% is a complete failure and pointless?
As time goes by, medication will get more effective and we'll hopefully find something that completely cures the patient of the disorder, and you should support this.
Ever read Thomas Szasz? In over 30 books he's taken apart the psychiatric fallacies and propaganda and shown that it's about political control and duress. The "disease/drug" model is only a more recent, insidious and cowardly method of the control, duress and imprisonment from the days of asylum. Now, the "control" is in a convenient, and profitable, chemical. Psychiatry's goal has always been to appear as "legitimate" medicine, which it never will be.
Well, you chose to overlook the point:) The point being that once the symptoms have diminished, the person ceases to be a patient.
Just like you can have allergies, without needing medication, you can have low selfesteem or paranoia, without needing the assistance of a medical professional.
A person can be termed 'sick' as long as symptoms are affecting everyday life.
I'll bend it out in neon for you: having mild symptoms is NOT the same as being mentally ill.
I much prefer the whole, uneditied version of this video to this one. This kind of cherry picking is why I can't watch the network news when they discuss politics.
I much prefer to watch the whole interview. It was a lot more informative than this one. This kind of cherry picking is why I can't watch the network news agencies anymore when they discuss politics.
Dear roomshroom, from your comment history and from your profile, I'll take a wild guess and say they are probably just deleting comments that are bigoted and off topic. Do you honestly believe that the APA has your, or anyone besides thier own, best interest at heart?
There are no BIOLOGICAL tests, this is true, that does not mean that there are no valid tests for the symptoms of psychiatric disorders.
As to curing patients, we are not talking about strep throat here. Any symptoms mental illness will remain for a lifetime, but the severity is lessened through proper treatment. When the symptoms no longer interfere with a persons life, the person will no longer need treatment. Is that so hard to understand?
Symptoms remain for the lifetime? Seriously? That sounds like a great scheme. "Uh, we say you're 'sick' based, and uh, you'll be sick forever...here's your refill." What kind of a "science" claims to have knowledge of mental "illness," yet the practitioners admit they can't do anything for anyone? What's the point then? Pointless labels and years and years of trial and error. You're right, it is hard to understand!
Sorry, but not having a quantifiable test and not being curable are not criteria for something not being a disease. Using too many negatives in a sentence -- now THATS a disease.
Yeah, my son benefitted from the cure to my disease. He died almost 2 hours after birth from PPHN from my Effexor that hasn't done anything for my depression in 7 years.
I looked up Effexor. It says it is NOT recommended for children or pregnant women. Or are you saying you were so suicidal that your Doctor still kept you on this while pregnant?
Berendo, I can't believe you are talking shit to a mother who lost her kid after taking Effexor. You ever stop to think maybe her doctor didn't warn her of the possible side effects? Do you think they sit you down and tell you all the messed up shit that these drugs can cause before they give them to you?
did you even think of not taking a med that said "not recommended for pregnant women" while you were pregnant, or are you just looking to try and deflect blame?
Isn't it nice to live inside of a delusion? This woman is nuts and I feel sorry for anyone who approaches her and actually listens to her fallacies. You cannot prove that a mental illness is caused by a chemical imbalance so therefore medications should NEVER be the answer, unless if it can be proven. Cancer is a real Disease.... Bipolar isn't! Psychiatry is the laughing stock in the medical community. I think I'm going to watch High Anxiety tonight.
Yihaa! Papa says the place is full of potential recrutes. Just sent him there. So dont worry about it, he has everything under... Ups, messanger just arrived looking unhappy... some lice are very sick and from the scouts it seems that her scalp is badly contaminated, and...oh, I had better skip that part. Well allright, shit happens. One never knows with these hosts, they look ok, but under the surface...cesspool. Never mind papa, he's untouchable, but all those poor babies...
Good production. Isn;t it strange how often people get diagnosed with these "diseases" while they are going through some trauma ie; marriage breakdown, job loss. I suppose the huge increase in these "disease' with just be a "natural" cause as we enter the biggest economic depression (man made of course) ever. Plenty of money for the drug companies coming up though.
Two friends lied to about these drugs helping them and their both head cases NOW, not before. Lady don't you see the problems with fronting for the criminal APA?
She's talking about public opinion. Even at that I think she's mistaken and I wonder where she is getting her information. I think she's just pulling it out of nowhere but it doesnt really matter.
I would guess based on observation that public opinion of psychiatry is very low.
Um....maybe she meant to say she believes disorders are diseases. No? Ok maybe she means she thinks they are diseases? No, she's a medical doctor - that won't work either...OK maybe that she hopes these disorders are. OK I tried Nada. I give up.

In 1959 Ritalin was advertised against as being a good antidote against alcohol addiction.
So I guess to psychiatrists being alcohol addicted is a mental disorder too?
Google: "Bonkers Institute: Ritalin drunk"
You'll get a 1959 advertisement for ritalin against alcoholism. Ritalin never cured alcoholism, and it'll never cure ADHD too.
Psychiatry is junk-science, and Ritalin is just an old drug, re-marketed for a new (madeup) disorder. ..ADHD
Thats my take on it.

"We DO have data showing that people increasingly believe in the validity of psychiatric disorders..."
What does that even mean?
These "people" she speaks of are constantly bombarded with advertizing from the pharmaceuticals.
At one point people probably "increasingly believed" that the earth was the center of the universe.
Lots of people "increasingly believed" in Hitler.

What's the common denominator of frauds like Maddoff, Bayou or Stanford fund ... or even Enron?
Like psychiatry, they tried to make themselves look good to the public while failing to deliver anything of real value. They pretended to for money.

1nodummy seems right. If it's a chemical problem, then it's a body illness/imbalance to be handled by a doctor or nutritionist, not a psychiatrist - they would handle MENTAL problems.
transenigmatic 2 years ago
Maybe I'm missing something but if mental disorders are biological or "chemical imbalances" in the brain then wouldn't the treatment of these "diseases" be handled by nuerologists instead of psychiatrists?

This video presents the facts. Watch it - real interviews with real psychs and are they curing, healing or handling people... No!

This is true for many autoimmune disorders, so why can't it be the same for mental illness.
avbbcake 2 years ago 12
Actually there is...sed-rate tests or sedimentation rate tests which defines the speed in which blood componentry separates over time. Psychiatry on the other hand is a pseudo science still based on a cocaine addicts assumptions (Sigmund Fraud...oops I mean Freud).

Some disorders are permanent and can't be cured as of today, but there are ways to make them less severe.
So because psychiatry can't cure these people to 100% is a complete failure and pointless?
As time goes by, medication will get more effective and we'll hopefully find something that completely cures the patient of the disorder, and you should support this.
PirateofAnonymous 2 years ago 3
Yes psychiatry is pointless, well put.
FactsNstuff 2 years ago 8
Well, you chose to overlook the point:) The point being that once the symptoms have diminished, the person ceases to be a patient.
Just like you can have allergies, without needing medication, you can have low selfesteem or paranoia, without needing the assistance of a medical professional.
A person can be termed 'sick' as long as symptoms are affecting everyday life.
I'll bend it out in neon for you: having mild symptoms is NOT the same as being mentally ill.

Dear roomshroom, from your comment history and from your profile, I'll take a wild guess and say they are probably just deleting comments that are bigoted and off topic. Do you honestly believe that the APA has your, or anyone besides thier own, best interest at heart?
1nodummy 2 years ago 18
Awesome cherrypicking of data:)
RoomShroom 2 years ago
Symptoms remain for the lifetime? Seriously? That sounds like a great scheme. "Uh, we say you're 'sick' based, and uh, you'll be sick forever...here's your refill." What kind of a "science" claims to have knowledge of mental "illness," yet the practitioners admit they can't do anything for anyone? What's the point then? Pointless labels and years and years of trial and error. You're right, it is hard to understand!

great video! as always nutrition is so overlooked in our society and is the answer to many of the mental imbalances.
imbalances stem from what one puts in their body... that also includes pollution and other unseen environmental elements!

Sorry, but not having a quantifiable test and not being curable are not criteria for something not being a disease. Using too many negatives in a sentence -- now THATS a disease.
smeyerson 2 years ago
Yeah, my son benefitted from the cure to my disease. He died almost 2 hours after birth from PPHN from my Effexor that hasn't done anything for my depression in 7 years.
schultzcrowd1 2 years ago
I looked up Effexor. It says it is NOT recommended for children or pregnant women. Or are you saying you were so suicidal that your Doctor still kept you on this while pregnant?
Berendo4ever 2 years ago 3
Berendo, I can't believe you are talking shit to a mother who lost her kid after taking Effexor. You ever stop to think maybe her doctor didn't warn her of the possible side effects? Do you think they sit you down and tell you all the messed up shit that these drugs can cause before they give them to you?
1nodummy 2 years ago 36
did you even think of not taking a med that said "not recommended for pregnant women" while you were pregnant, or are you just looking to try and deflect blame?

Isn't it nice to live inside of a delusion? This woman is nuts and I feel sorry for anyone who approaches her and actually listens to her fallacies. You cannot prove that a mental illness is caused by a chemical imbalance so therefore medications should NEVER be the answer, unless if it can be proven. Cancer is a real Disease.... Bipolar isn't! Psychiatry is the laughing stock in the medical community. I think I'm going to watch High Anxiety tonight.

She's talking about public opinion. Even at that I think she's mistaken and I wonder where she is getting her information. I think she's just pulling it out of nowhere but it doesnt really matter.
I would guess based on observation that public opinion of psychiatry is very low.
