  • How did that small bird break through that glass and metal window? Also, how did tom open the door to go looking for the bird unless the dad left the door open? lol

  • This cartoon was too serious to me. But it's still Looney Tunes no matter what.

  • The father looks like Paul L. Smith from Popeye (1980).

  • So cute ! I love the contrast between Tom and his daddy !

  • Originally released on June 8, 1940 (Blue Ribbon re-issue September 24, 1949); this was not only Chuck Jones' homage to Walt Disney but also Warners' last-time-out effort at imitating Disney.

  • Thank you for posting this. I've been looking for this short for a long time. :)

  • Aw, didn't Tom look happy when he and the bird returned home from the blizzard? And wasn't Tom's dad happy when Tom came back and used his beard as a nest for the bird? Wasn't that a beautiful cartoon? :')

  • @IndigoDragoness Yes. :)

  • Chuck Jones once said this cartoon was his attempt to duplicate the Disney style of animation. He came pretty close, doncha think?

  • @DaveLucas427 - This gem beats anything I've seen from overrated Disney cartoons.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW* breathe* WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

  • chuck jones in hommage

  • Does anybody know the name of song Tom sings while doing the dishes?

Such a sweet song that would sound great on a recorder.

  • GOD! I love this little classic gem. I always cry at it.

  • This is one of my favorite of Chuck Jones' early cartoons. It's so cute, it's rude!

  • thanks...great classic!!
