  • A wonderful episode and a Van Gogh joke to boot. This is why Alton will always be the greatest.

  • Oh, W. I'm going to have wet dreams tonight.

  • Did he just steal a shopping cart?

  • Anton's invention is rather questionable. Other methods do not need the use of a non-stick spray. If you're that worried about the contents sticking, line the steamer with a lettuce or cabbage leaf.

  • @poolsclosedduetofail Good point. Parchment paper works too.

  • Who doesnt love Dim Sum

  • mmmm wouldnt miind seeing W whip out some bedroom gadgets too

  • Obvious that all those scenes like that steam room scene are scirpted, but the excution and acting of "W" is so damn perfect that I can actually hear and see Alton on the verge of actually cracking up at 00:36 to 00:43

  • Im 21 and in college and I want W so freakin badly.

  • Alton schooling W? I never thought I would see the day.

  • Vickie "W" Eng is in the pantheon of Asian babes on television. She can Gadget Girl up my kitchen any day.

  • lol i laughed at the Vangogh joke!!! XDDDD

  • Lol at the Vangogh joke.

  • Mr. Van Gogh we found your.....oh nevermind! LOL!

  • So, since those were vegetarian wantons, wouldn't the fact that he threw in an egg kind of make them not-so-vegetarian anymore?

  • @WWOLFwts

No, they are still vegetarian. The egg makes them not vegan.

  • Hot, half-naked, Asian chicks... YUM!

  • For anyone wondering, this steaming method can be used for the hot wings from "The Wing and I" if you're too cheap to buy steaming baskets, bolts, and nuts(like me).

  • There's flavor in that there vanilla pod. Drop the whole thing in, not just the scrapings. You can pick it out after you have extracted flavor.

  • he's a terrorist wonton bombs lol lmao jus playing he my dawg

  • and he says you can have them however you want.

  • AB .. honey ... what is the point of making vegetarian dumplings if you plop them in chicken broth??

  • Just his initial preference. Of course you can substitute vegetable broth or even kelp stock.

  • You can use vegetable brother too. Not to mention the fact that they are just tasty dumplings.

  • He is not making "vegetarian" dumplings. He is making vegetable dumplings.

  • They are indeed vegetarian. Lacto-ovo "vegetarians" can have dairy and eggs, but no meat,

Some "vegetarians" eat fish. Go figure

Vegans are the only true vegetarians - no animal products at all.

Now chicken broth is a deal breaker, but that isn't the dumpling.

  • @Lisanab They are still vegetarian. They just aren't Vegan.

  • *whistle* Animal! You'd hear from my lawyer!

    Poor W!

  • That comment about Van Goghs ear is just wrong Alton, just plain wrong. Although I do have to say if cut off an ear I bet it would like that hehe.

  • He said firm if u listened.

  • alton.. there are quite a few grades of tofu.. which kind do we useeee??

  • firm kind!

  • Did anyone know Alton had such awesome biceps?!

  • i use a big wok with water at the bottom and a steam rack in the middle and it makes the perfect steamer. i don't understand this guy has to make everything! lol anyway AB still rules

  • I think he makes the stuff to show people they don't need to go buy the stuff which a lot of times is expensive. but that's my theory.

  • Actually that makes pretty good multitasker. Thats something AB would do but hey his may be cheaper if somebody does not have a wok but if you cooking far eastern foods, most do.

  • hmm... i usually don't like ginger in dishes cause when people use it they use to much and it makes the entire dish taste like it. Since its one of altons recipes though i'll give it a shot.

  • i know shes to old for me but w looks good in a towel

  • alton brown is good

    see my wonton recipe

  • Hey Alton --- may I join you?

  • I love your shows. I think you are the smartest cook that I have ever enjoyed watching. We love you at the Parris House.:)

  • Heh, fresh Ginger. My parents are Chinese, and they cook with a lot. Be careful, don't eat it. o_0

I often mistake it for a thin slice of meat in dishes. :(

  • Why not eat it? It is tasty....

  • Trust me, because I know this first hand...raw ginger will give you almost as much of a jolt as raw horseradish. I once had sushi that was served with sliced ginger, and I made the mistake of popping it into my mouth...yeah, not doing that again.

  • Ginger is plenty hot but you have to understand that the fumes from horseradish, raw, unvinegared...like mustard...can make you extremely ill and even kill asthmatics. If you work in a plant where they process it you have to wear a gas mask when you are on the floor...that was a crappy job...

  • I have had a similar experience. But it was most likely you had pickled ginger.

  • DON'T EAT IT, IT'S DEADLY POISON!!

    Seriously, what's wrong with ginger?

  • eat it if you like i dont like it though

  • haha right i'll find a chunk of it and chew on it for like a second before i realise it's a chunk of ginger

when i cook with it i like to freeze it and then grate it so that you get the flavour without the mishaps

  • Alton? You are definately "The Best". :) Not only do I learn a lot (and am an experienced cook) but have fun watching your show. Looking forward to more of them. Thanks!

P.S. You have assembled a great cast of supporting personalities on the show too.

  • LOL that was so funny XD well Alton was naughty but it was good one really, man I envy W she was sitting next to him..well...never mind I was thinking loud o:3 anyhow the main thing to say is that I adore Alton's idea really I mean those multitasking tools ^_^)b "thumbs up" once again thanks for sharing.

  • OH MY GOD! Look at AB's arms in the steam room after W leaves.

  • dude works out, LOL!

  • W in nothing but a towel... How can you go wrong?

Love the show! It's all over my DVR!

  • hahaha mine to. my sister and i switched tv's and she couldnt record anything becuase i had all the Good Eats episodes saved :D

  • Oh man I was laughing so hard when W got mad when Alton made her do that. thanks for uploading the episodes 5/5 :D

  • I love Alton Brown,he makes learning how to cook easy and fun! Plus W makes me laugh! ^_^

  • wait she is supposed to be a robot? thats kinda dumb

  • she HAS to be a robot because her knowledge is too vast for a simple human mind to contain

  • The funny thing is the fact that the woman who plays "W" is actually AB's chiropractor and doesn't really have as much knowledge of cooking equipment as she seems to, just what the researchers for the show tell her, for the most part.

  • thanks for the info. Id never have guessed.

  • Is it wrong that I think 'W' is kind of hot? *blush*

  • It's rong to NOT think that "W" is kind of hot.

  • ... you suck... Alton brown is one of the gods of cullinary cooking!

  • Thanks for all your hard work, LTH. It's really appreciated by people like me who are out of the country and need their FoodTV fix. (Now if I could only get other FoodTv shows!)

BTW am I the only one who HAAAATES "W," both as an actress (!) and even more as a character? UGH.

  • Yes.

  • Pretty much yeah.

  • W, behind Alton, is the best character in the show. Plus she's pretty, well for a robot that is.

  • Robot? W is actually Altons Chiropractor (See Good Eats: Behind the Eats)

  • Did you miss the episode called, Behind the Turkey or something like that. It was a faux documentary about what happened after the 1st season turkey episode. W was a robot in that show

  • Yeah.

W is a foil character to highlight the carefree goofiness of Alton. For you to call her a bitch and a dopey extraneous character...well, that's a pretty hostile attitude towards a fictional character on a TV show. Perhaps you're just not happy seeing her in a towel with Alton :P

  • I don't know about W, but YOU sure are grating on the nerves...

  • Mangoes would good great.

  • And indeed they were. I made the syrup with ginger, and they came out wonderfully. I ended up with a lot of extra syrup (I was making a small batch of wontons), so I boiled it down to make ice cream syrup. Yum, yum, yum.

  • Hmmm...do you think dried mangoes would work okay in those fried dumplings? We've got far too many of them around right now.

  • well did you pass the first grade? Because if i recall "grammer" is spelled grammar, i don't know just a simple observation. good day.

  • Text speak just shows not only how immature you are but also how clueless and unprofessional.

No one in the real world will respect someone who uses text speak.

  • I'm surprised there are people out there who think that those who use chatspeak actually use it in real life aswell.

And if they're dumb enough to *do* that, they don't need to be told how stupid they are. They'll find out once they get fired.

  • Where's part 1?

  • Delicious! And W's in a towel! It's ok, she's a robot anyways.

  • I read somewhere that she's AB's chiropractor. Weird, right? o.o

  • Yeah, funny where his side characters come from. He gets em from anywhere, and some of em are real!

  • yes, she is in fact his chiropractor.

  • True story, was revealed in "Feasting on Asphalt". It was creepy seeing them get along so well lol

  • You mean "Behind the Eats", right? That was the Good Eats BTS special...Feasting on Asphalt was a different show altogether.

  • New episode! *dances* Yay!

  • Omg, you made my weekend!

  • Needs more part one! Moar Good Eats plz

  • wow 7:15 dim means time sum means heart i dont get it lol

  • "Dim sum" means "touch the heart." "Dim" doesn't mean "time" in this context.

  • Hamsterlover: sorry im on my brothers, lol Mr.Van Gogh...oh never mind

  • Where's part 1? Thanks for all the uploads!!!
