Ribbing with the Modified Bond Ribber Carriages

Heidi, do your have a schematic on how you made that modified ribber carriage. You are so creative!!! Hand manipulated ribbing is time consuming, and a bit tedious.

I bought a used Bond Ribber that didn't come with the red key plates. Would you know if you can use the green ones or where you buy the red ones? Thanks!

My ribber did not come with red plates to begin with. It had the clear type plates (old ISM) with red velcro squares attached where the needles enter and leave the channel/ridges to keep the ribber needles from slipping. You can use any type of keyplate but I would definitely put either narrow strips of foam or two or three strands of a soft, spongy kind of yarn under the ribber needle retainer bars so that when needles are pushed up, they stay up. Slipping needles on the ribber are bad!

Thanks very much for your quick response. I'm selling a Bond ribber on Ebay that ends today and I was asked if it came with red key plates. As it doesn't I'm having to scurry about finding out what I can do for my customer. So it's good to know that the green ones can be used. I'm hoping the Bond Company contacts me with good news regarding the red ones. Thanks again for your quick response!

I'm the same one and thank you so much for the compliment, you made my day! As much as I'd like to, I can't take credit for the clear handle and nozzle idea since Bond came up with that for the newer mid-gauge Bond Elite but it would have been nice if they themselves had retrofitted the Bond ribber carriages with those same improvements. I bet the Bond ribber would have been a lot more popular! I'll try another video with knitting in the round, hopefully I can get more of a close-up view.
