  • They can put in some anti-war message if those Hollywood bunch are so disturbed by the idea of Heinlein's idea of governance and political system BUT PLEASE do it more subtle and dark, something like Apocalypse Now(madness and of war), not rubbing it in your face while blatantly portraying the military as incompetent and Nazis. Oh, and bring in the powered suits and get rid of that stupid coed shower thing. Juan Rico should be played by a Filipino-born actor and please don't make it PG-13.

  • Since the book implies Johnny Rico is of Native Filipino descent by the fact he speaks Tagalog, he could be played by Daniel Dae Kim. I know he's Korea but Dae Kim alos has that don't frak with me look

  • Halo's MJOLNIR (Spartan) armor and the Matrix's Gun armor seem to borrow the from the MI suit. In fact I imaged the MI suits looking like MJOLNIR excepted a little more bulky when I read the book.

  • This is what the White Imperium will look like.

  • @captainstern3

'White Imperium'? What are you talking about?

  • @bloodrunsclear Europe is equal to its historical task. Against the anti-spiritual, anti-heroic 'ideals' of America-Jewry, Europe pits its metaphysical ideas, its faith in its Destiny, its ethical principles, its heroism. Fearlessly, Europe falls in for battle, knowing it is armed with the mightiest weapon ever forged by History: the superpersonal Destiny of the European organism.

  • @captainstern3 continued: Our European Mission is to create the Culture-State-Nation-Imperium of the West, and thereby we shall perform such deeds, accomplish such works, and so transform our world that our distant posterity, when they behold the remains of our buildings and ramparts, will tell their grandchildren that on the soil of Europe once dwelt a tribe of gods - Francis Parker Yockey

  • @bloodrunsclear Just ignore the neo nazi troll. His type are beneath contempt. Also, I favorited the video. Its about time someone made a decent starship troopers movie.

  • @crewmannumber7 The trouble with most (not all) Right wing types is that, no matter where they are ideologically, whoever is to the Right of them is not only wrong but they are actually evil and beyond respectable discourse. That's why the Right keeps losing. Things are changing though & Heinlein (even though he came under the sway of Boas) will be a part of it.

  • the book also can make you question things about the world and politics

  • @dragonlordd

Movies tend to shy away from that kind of thing at least nowadays...for the most part.

I may ENDLESSLY yak on about it, but The Dark Knight proves that movies can ask tough questions and still be popular. All you have to do is care about what you're making, and also treat the audience like thinking human beings.

  • @bloodrunsclear Amen. Not offense intended

  • @dragonlordd

I'm Christian, but Amen just means 'so be it' in Hebrew so it works XD

  • @bloodrunsclear I didn't what Creed (faith) you praticed. I am Roman Catholic

  • @dragonlordd

    Episcopalian myself.

That does not mean I worship the pope (as someone actually believed O_o)

  • @bloodrunsclear I am non-praticing. and pope is not worship. He suppose to be the rep to god or something like that.

  • the book is actually required reading at USMA Westpoint, and is also on the US Navy & Marine Corps reading lists as well. The quote "Cmon you apes; you wanna live forever?" was attributed to a sergeant at a battle in WW1, and the concept of a "Mobile Infantry" was actually ahead of its time, and has since been incorporated into every military that's worth a shit.. soldiers have to move fast to secure objectives-- something Nazi Germany introduced with "blitzkreig" in WW2, & is the standard today

  • RAWR! HALO!!!

  • hey bloodrunsclear, the music you used in the trailer? what's its name?

  • @lordofmyarse

    Check the description :)

  • Dude have you heard!? THEY ARE GOING TO REBOOT STARSHIP TROOPERS!!!!!

With the writers of Thor and X-Men First Class writing!

  • @TheWarlord900

    Cool! :D

By the way, what happened to your Deviantart accord? :(

    I got worried there bud!

  • @bloodrunsclear Sent a note.

  • @TheWarlord900 It isn't so much a reboot as it is hopefully a film made by people who aren't illiterate eurotrash.

  • @TheWarlord900 oh god it better be based on the book

  • you realize this movie would be boring as hell. Not to say the novel was bad but there is so much more action in the movie.

  • @P00PD0G89 I don't think it would be boring at all. Honestly, I'm all for extending action sequences in the book such as the Klendathu battle, Operation Royalty, and the death of Rasczak being done to keep people entertained which will mean some details will have to be taken out for that.

  • Heinlein's prose is junk. The movie is pretty deplorable as well.

  • @JMMFilm

Are you asking for a fight on both fronts?

  • The only problem with this trailer is everyone's still white when everyone in the book is mostly Puerto Rican. Over all, This is really good :D

  • @UchuuKeijiRaidanjin

All the more reason to really make the movie! :D

  • I really wish there was a remake of starship trooper done right. That meant the existence of power suits, realistic military tactics as shown in the book, characters fully fleshed out and a good script. Oh, and Heinlein's starship trooper is shit.

  • @doane1981

don't forget about how the Bugs are actually intelligent. Including the Skinnies.

  • @IshDat1KiD= The bugs had ships in the book. Thet whole shooting their young into space that Blanche Deveraux said sounds like alot of hooey. Robert Heinlin's spinning in his grave.

  • @vigo894

Yes. I know this. They also had energy based weapons, which is why they were DESTROYED in Klendathu.

  • Robert A. Heinlein great writer sci-fi! I love this book and dream to see a good screen version. Thank you for an attempt to do fan-made trailer. Thank you that wrote a true about a book.

  • A film "Starship Troopers" is a terrible shit!!! Verhoven had no authority to redo a book so. After this film I left off to respect him. He did not think of a plot. He disfigured stranger intellectual property. That he did named is a lie and stealing! Apparently he from those liberals that hate veterans.

BOOK THE GREATEST MASTERPIECE SCIENCE FICTION.

  • Nice job, it's such a shame no live action examples of proper Mobile Infantry armour exist, the Halo armour is the closest thing we have (and even then the stuff from Halo Legends: Prototype is the only thing that comes close to matching the description in the book, as does the Anime of Starship Troopers made in 1988) But this certainly captures the feel the remake should have, that of "Band of Brothers" in space.

  • Brilliant work, really good to see an well made pro-ST trailer in the true sense of the book.

As for the book the state is Fascist but only the ignorant could call it racist as its statist and takes in all races as Rome before it but united under one culture and banner. To call it racist is just sheer stupidty given that the main character is a Puerto Rican.

As for those detractors of the book and its underlying political arguments what an surprise that all those who denounce never served b4,

  • @154thTerran - the main character wasn't Puerto Rican. He was Filipino.

  • @KillerSalmon I do indeed apologise and stand corrected. Has been some time since I last read the book.

The point remains though that to say the book or the system advocated was racist is an load of tosh given the ethnicity of the main character

  • @154thTerran The mere fact that Johnny Rico isn't white isn't enough to say the book isn't racist.

That said, the book isn't racist.

  • @TsundereLightning True to an degree but the very fact that he is Filipino coupled with the fact that his ethnicity is never questioned or comes into play at any part of his life and career indicates the system of government and culture is none racial as its united all people under one common language, culture, government and state.

  • @TsundereLightning What i think shows the book isnt racist is merely that race is never an issue. it never talks about it or makes a note on rico's ethnicity. hell, he honestly could be white for all anyone knows. it shows the mindset of the federation, a united people where cultural division is a thing of the past.

  • @154thTerran - No need to apologize. Anyone who's read the book would realize that it isn't racist since it's pretty much stated that the Mobile Infantry is made up of people from all over the world. BTW - I don't think the state is supposed to be Fascist in the book - Heinlein was a libertarian and the state described in his book was his attempt to try to reconcile his libertarianism with the fact that he also believed that a state NEEDED to have a military to protect itself.

  • @154thTerran It's definitely not fascist, either.

  • someof these parts are from halo

  • @rspslastresort nice work, captain obvious.

  • lol 1960's anti socialist/communist propaganda seems to have worked pretty well!

  • i want a stasrship trooper with more tanks

i feel the first movie was a big joke

  • if i would make my own movie like this, i would make mankind more like a democratic-military state.

  • @CoreyStudios2000

They kind of were in the movie, only it was always shown to be so cartoonishly evil and wrong that the purpose of the book, looking into the merits of the system without bias, was completely changed into an anti facism PSA.

  • @bloodrunsclear

    PSA?

  • @Yomamma1338

    Public Service Announcement.

Like those old 'How to wash you face' videos XD

  • @CoreyStudios2000 theres no such thing as a democratic state (i know u added millitary in the end) democracy existed only once and thats in greece... otherwise u would be talking in a republic-military state XD

  • This is how Heinlein's masterpiece should be. A Band of Brothers kind of movie with armor designs like the OVA, an original Bug design (they could go with the depiction on one of the book covers), a Skinny design similar to Roughnecks Chronicles, and most importantly, the plot.

  • whats with all the halo stuff? there looked like there was a halo movie that most of those clips were from, how can i find out what that was?!?!?!?!?!??

  • 1 bug pushed the "dislike" button.

Watch youself, citizen! The only good bug is a dead bug!

  • 1 person is a douche who doesn't like good movies

  • What movies were in here?

  • That.....was.....cosmic.

  • *sigh* WHY HOLLYWOOD WHY? IT COULDVE BEEN SOOOO GOOD!

  • Fuck yeah Ace combat music!!!! Unsung War!!!

  • The power armor in the novel is much larger than in the trailer. But this is still awesome. Paul Verhoeven can eat a dick.

  • can me pls a person say what the name from the video is ?? 0:30 sec and from 0:45 and 0:46

  • @ZayOne15

    0:30 Terminator: Salvation

    0:45-0:46 Star Trek (2010)

  • @musichome19685 thanks

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Holy shit this is actually pretty awesome

  • Halo

  • @RainbowSixVegas2010

    Not just!

  • What people remember from the Starship Troopers book: a deep environment, incredibly detailed battle sequences, well thought out military structure, a believable hero, and an incredible story. What people remember from the Starship Troopers movie: Chicks showering with guys, and boob shots. *sigh*. If only you were a director, sir, this world would be a place to live in.

  • I would watch this

  • how the fuck does Michale Bay get to direct movies and yet movies like this never get made?

  • protip use bugspray

  • Except they used rocket launchers...

  • @DarthHawthorne

    Good point :/

I wish I could have found more footage of those.

Glad someone else read the book! :)

  • @bloodrunsclear I love the book. I have only ever met a few people who have read it.

  • THANK YOU it's time somebody gave us at least a glimpse into the awesomeness of starship troopers done right. Great job using what material you could here, gave me the chills imagining it. I wish this was a real project, the current run of movies are a slap in the face to the spirit of Heinlein's work and as a US Marine grunt I can't help but feel their portrayal of the military is at best ignorant and at worst insulting

  • @Rhexis01 It was meant to be. Paul Verhoeven, the director of Starship Troopers, was an anti-American douchebag. He made the movies as a deliberate parody of the book and American warrior culture.

  • @Halo4Lyf Really? I never really picked up on any anti-American vibe. Personally, I kinda agree that you should have to perform some sort of civil service before becoming a "citizen" and that there should be a difference between a citizen and a civilian. But that'll just get me on the Voting Rights Act. I think we should have poll tests that require rudimentary constitutional knowledge.

  • @sandorsbox Oh yeah, Verhoeven admitted to never even finishing the book. He, and a lot of other people who lack reading comprehension, right off the system in Starship Troopers as "fascistic" and whatnot. Plus the conflict with the bugs was meant by the director to be a knock against American history and foreign policy.

Verhoeven is a European. He comes from a society where no one remembers their duties and demand to be taken care of. Starship Troopers is utterly alien to his belief system.

  • @Halo4Lyf Hate to defend the guy, but growing up in Nazi occupied Netherlands did that to him. And besides, if it wasn't for the movie I might have missed out on Heinlein all together;)

  • @meanmanturbo True.

  • @meanmanturbo So lets see then... he was liberated by American troops, and then came to America to build his career in film... so he owes both his freedom and his fortune to America, but still decided to make a movie pissing all over the country that made those things possible, especially her military?

    Ungrateful cock-bag.

  • @Halo4Lyf Actually, it was a comment on Nazi Germany, seeing as his country was occupied by the Germans

  • @weldonwin That I might buy, but why desecrate an incredible book with a great message in the process?

  • @Halo4Lyf Sorry but what? Can you explain how exactly this moved pisses on anything that has with the US to do? Last time i checked, the political system in the movie was a global military state and the main character was (supposedly) Argentinian. Where do you get "pissing all over the US" from that? And DO forgive us "europeans" for not seeing the appeal of a state where the military (veterans) runs things, europe tried that, many times. it went to hell, every time. Think about it.

  • @yannos1000

Um...the US is not a 'global military power'. Troops in Europe? Not really. We're pulling out of Iraq.

So to make a long statement short a clear example of him pissing over the US is that you grew up believing the lie of military domination.

Its so pervasive you don't even question it.

  • @bloodrunsclear Dude, DUDE! I said in the movie, not in reality! Earth in Starship Troopers the movie is a global fascist-militarist state and the main character is argentinian. How does that piss on the democratic, confined-to-one-continent nation of USA? Where do you even see him using it as a "fuck you USA", there is literally NOTHING specifically USA-ish about that movie.

  • @yannos1000

    Ah so ^ ^;

    Sorry XD

Well, the primary reason to believe the director hated the US...is he said so. Read his interviews about this and Robotcop. He states clearly he made these as parables for how corrupt, ignorant, cruel and evil America was. He even describes Robocop as 'An American Jesus, but instead of bringing peace he brings death'

    Not that ambiguous unfortunately. I'm glad you can read between the lines ^^;

  • @bloodrunsclear That so? You must have read different interviews, I saw him say something in the way that the only thing he wanted to say with this movie was "Grrruuuaaauagh! Kinda." (IE; nothing really). it really little sense to me actually, he models the Federation on the nazis so hard that the movie grows jackboots, to use that as a piss-take on the US makes as much sense as claiming that since the earth is round and the moon can be banana-shaped Neil Armstrong must be a monkey

  • @yannos1000

I'm inclined to paraphrase an army officer who reviewed Avatar.

'Sure you might call the bad guys 'mercenaries' but when their patches have red white and blue on them and they all speak with regional accents you're skirting dangerously close to insulting'

  • @yannos1000 Mostly I'm pissed off that he felt the need to equate militaristic fascism with the noble idea of a timocratic republic. If I could live in the Federation of the book, I definitely would.

  • @meanmanturbo really he grew up in Nazi occupied Netherlands, and STILL dislikes America, unappreciative bitch, my grand father would have a fit if he heard about that

  • @Halo4Lyf Oy! That has less to do with being European and more to do with Capitalism. If everyone is supposed to look out for No 1 and No 1 only, why are you surprised they forget about the concept of Duty? Say what you want about the virtues of the free market, but don't forget the price paid for it.

Marx wrote that the Information Age will be followed by the Communist Age - it's only a matter of time, Comrades, only a matter of time...

  • @LordSia13

Yes, already we can see the Nanny State in full swing, religion being censored, socialism creeping into economics and education, and the nation is preparing to fully embrace one tyrannical ruler with enough audacity to ignore the government for good.

Only a matter of time till we're back in the glory days of gulags, show trials, poverty and war.

  • @bloodrunsclear Hey, I'm not saying Stalin or Mao were right. Communism is an Ideal, and like all Ideals, attempting to force Reality to conform to it results in "Epic Fail" - see the Khmer Rouge for more details.

On the other hand, without any Socialism at all - police and military would become just another form of business, selling their services to the highest bidder. The point of the State is to enforce the Greater Good, as in, the best possible alternative to the greatest number of people.

  • @LordSia13 Sorry, but American Communists, such as they are, don't have the guts to actually fight things out with the Patriots. There are a lot of us and we have a lot of guns.

  • @Halo4Lyf That's because they aren't without survival instinct, even if they are idiots. The whole point of Democracy is to avoid Revolutions, being bloody and violent, in favour of Reforms - slower and less dramatic, but more effective in the long run. America isn't ready for Communism - I'll settle for some moderate Socialist values within the next decade or ten... Meanwhile, I'll see what I can do about "reforming" my own country - I won't stand for another term of right-wing rule, damn it!

  • @LordSia13 We are not a democracy, we are a republic. And those that understand this are growing in number, just look at the rise of the Tea Party and the militias. Your "reforms" are just as likely to elicit violent response as an attempt to impose out-and-out Marxism.

We outnumber and surround you, my friend. Keep your politics to places like the Daily Kos.

  • @Halo4Lyf ... Right. Because "democracy" and "republic" are mutually exclusive, just like "democracy" and "monarchy". I don't know about the Tea Party, and militias... I do hope they are "well-regulated".

As for socialist reforms eliciting violent responses; seriously? Sounds like terrorism to me, trying to achieve political goals through violence aimed at non-combatants...

As for being outnumbered and surrounded; yes. Sad fact. Where are the People's Republic of China when you need them?

  • @LordSia13 Speaking for the militias, as a member, we're about 50% recent prior service (having gotten out in the last 20 years), 25% older prior service and currently serving personnel (guys who still wear the uniform and guys who took it off before 1990) and the last 25% are just guys and girls who never wore the uniform but understand that the time is fast approaching where every Patriot will have to fight for their country and homes.

Believe me when I tell you, you are surrounded.

  • @Halo4Lyf ... You do know I live on the other side of the "pond" called the "Atlantic"? In a country that is amongst the least densely populated in the world? Where Socialism is national tradition, despite the recent upswing for the right wind politicians?

Not to mention I live in one of, what, three cities worldwide were McDonalds actually had to close down? Admittedly, that was decades ago, and they're back now, but still.

  • @LordSia13 So one of the shithole Scandinavian countries that is rapidly being overrun by it's own urban Islamic population?

  • @Halo4Lyf Funny you should mention that; one of my best friends, pretty much the textbook definition of "Svenson Svenson" (Swedish "average joe"), also the Biggest gore & horror movie fanatic I know, also converted from Catholicism to Islam oh, about three years ago.

He married a rather nice foreign-born girl last summer, met her through an Islamic dating network.

What happened to "Give me your tired, your poor"? And religious freedom?

If we're being overrun, well, "The Meek shall inherit..."

  • @LordSia13

Religious freedom? You mean the same that my country is trying to stamp out?

The same Islam is trying to stamp out?

Tired and poor are welcome in THIS country, not in countries controlled by Islam.

The meek might inherit, but machete wielding fanatics who do not represent their own religion are hardly meek.

Of course they WILL inherit if people like you continue to spew misinformation.

  • @LordSia13 Don't pretend for a second that you know what my God was saying on the Mount.

Meekness is power under control. Restraint, in other words. Moses was described as meek. Didn't turn out too well for the Egyptians, did it?

I'm happy to take the tired and poor. But your ravenous, child molesting, genital mutilating, head severing, illiterate fucking savages you can keep. I'm looking forward to the day we rain nuclear fire on their homelands and retake Europe by force.

  • @Halo4Lyf ... And there I give up. Anyone who actually looks forward to a Nuclear Apocalypse is obviously clinically insane and beyond my feeble skills in psychotherapy. Were I to meet you in person, I would have to settle for attempting to literally beating some sense into your ass - since you appear to be substituting it for all higher brain functions.

I can't help but wonder what Jesus would say to you?

  • @LordSia13 Considering Jesus was the guy who took a bullwhip to the money-changers in the Temple, is prophesied to return in wrath where He first came in mercy, and is believed to be the very same Being that commanded the Israelites to commit genocide a time or two... willing to bet He wouldn't mind all that much, given the evil we'd be destroying. Where do people get it in their heads that Jesus was some hippy from antiquity?

As for meeting me in person... I can PM you my address, if you wish?

  • @bloodrunsclear i tink that is very good ;) can you do other fake trailers? :P

  • like dont deliberately show spartan armor.

  • @MrVeruckt ODST too =) you're welcome

  • @bloodrunsclear thats a good point... but if you were going to. maybe be a little less blatant about it...

  • Dude... I could kiss you for making this trailer. Heinlein's Starship Troopers was probably one of the most thought provoking pieces of political theory I'd ever read. I actually whole heartedly endorse the proposed political system of the Terran Federation and would like to see America adopt something similar.

In the meantime, I'm working on a screenplay for a faithful adaption of novel to film. Should be done in a couple months.

  • Holy shit that was awesome

  • I liked the book way better than the movie.

  • Hey your clips are real cool but i was hoping you could filll us in on some of the movies you pulled these from....

  • @ColeysMusic

    Halo ODST/Reach trailers

    Starship Troopers

    Terminator Salvation

    Star Trek

    Iron Man 2: War Machine

  • I think the reason no one complained about this being disrespectful towards soldiers is because Nobody knew that was the films intention. It' extremely subtle.

There's a website called Kids in mind. It's a website that's about content in movies. It said that the films message was "With heroism and sacrifice humans can defeat any foe. "

On Netflix, the plot description describes the soldiers as "courageous"

I agree. The books way better, but most people probably werent even aware of the satire.

  • I have to say I really like how much Halo you put in it. It made it feel like a halo movie to me lol.

  • if you ever play the starship troopers game, the marauder armour looks almost exactly the same as the halo spartan armour, so good job with that :D

i love this move, despite all those who hate it, and i wish they had done a better job with the second one (havent seen the 3rd yet but apparently its shite)

  • @namdrut the 3rd one is almost as good as the 1 st.

  • @aboothby you are fucking kidding.... the 3rd movie sucks ass! Even a little more than hero of the federation... the sequels both are the worst ever made. :-!

  • @drizzid each to their own. As far as I'm concerned there was no 2nd SST film, just like there was no 3rd Terminator film.

  • Am I crazy or did I see splices from lave action Halo clips?

  • @hamsterkil Those are clips of promo commercials for Halo Reach(You see reach in the opening shot)

I saw clips from the ODST live action trailer, the Deliver Hope trailer, and the one which showcases Carter becoming a Spartan 3

  • epicness. Just epic

  • Racist? Who found the book racist? What could possibly be racist?

  • @AKenjiB There's always been people saying that theirs racism in the book, I fail to see any in it though. I don't think they even mention what race of human species Jaun Rico is, or what race anybody is in the book.

  • @aboothby

    I think that was deliberate.

Remember when sci-fi was METAPHOR, not just shoving a message in your face?

In Avatar, wonder of wonders, the evil mining companies are represented by...an evil mining company. And the native Americans are represented by...um...blue native Americans.

Starship Troopers? Before the movie it actually had some subtlety.

  • @bloodrunsclear I must had missed the subtle racism when I read the book.

If lack of subtle sells to the general Joe they should make a film with David Cameron (UK Prime-Minister) taking taking money out of the lower classes pockets and putting it in his friends, then forcing the jobless to work for free, that'll sell shit load.

But yes subtle or in films those we're the days before they forgot other people we're equally as smart as them.

  • @bloodrunsclear

wasnt it just Heinlen advertising pro-militarist government?

  • @aboothby

Its actually racism directed against the Bugs. But seeing as how theyre mindless killing machines and a poor parallel of Communism (seriously im not making this up) I think you can pretty much hand wave that.

  • @MurderedByMidgets

Um...dude? The movie was a poor parallel of Conservatism, Christianity and America.

So why are you complaining? Poor parallel comparisons of Communism would be a nice change of pace from Hollywood constantly bashing everything but.

  • @bloodrunsclear

i was talking about the book genius

  • @MurderedByMidgets

    Actually yeah I know.

Verhoven never even read the book before he made the movie.

  • @bloodrunsclear

But that doesnt stop it from being cheap, B-level entertainment.

  • @bloodrunsclear

At the time the Bugs very clearly were a stand-in for Communists as viewed by the Western world; no autonomy, virtually mindless, faceless slaves lorded over by a elite caste. The racism bit stems from the book's use of the word "bugs" (which you could think of as a species slur) and the fact that essentially the war is excused because of the fact that they are basically not human. Theres also the problem people had with the book essentially endorsing militarist facism.

  • @MurderedByMidgets

Oh dear! You mean a book had the nerve to endorse a point of view?

Darn good think all movies nowadays (and books) are about realistic things, like evil white people, evil Americans, evil business men, evil Christians...

(Sorry again it would be downright healthy to have a story criticize communism. Ask a school kid I bet you he'd tell you that the prof said communism was a great and noble thing, but never bothered to explain it too much...)

  • @bloodrunsclear

I think you're missing the point. completely.

  • @MurderedByMidgets

    Can you elucidate?

  • @bloodrunsclear actually were i live people students don't give a dam about politics, ideology, or just don't know what Communism is. in fact my prof (and other students who actually read and care about their grade) hates communism with a passion

  • @brushwaterkhan

Then you don't live in Seattle or England.

  • @bloodrunsclear well i live in California.

  • @brushwaterkhan

    Um...really? O_o

My mom grew up there and she was vaguely communist throughout her college years.

    Times change XD

  • @bloodrunsclear well i live in San Diego, far away from Hollywood influence

  • @brushwaterkhan

    Ah so.

My personal feelings on the matter and yours are likely different. I apologize if I seemed to imply no one held different opinions :/

  • @bloodrunsclear it's cool

  • @MurderedByMidgets

    Cont...

And, um, weren't communists proudly defined by having no autonomy and weren't they in practice lorded over by an elite cast, expressing individuality chiefly by going against communism?

    Oh, right, history. Sorry.

  • Zim's quote works great in the trailer.

  • OMG this is most epic!!

  • Was that Moon at 1:10? Did you see that movie?

  • That's beyond fantastic!

I would like to see a truer version of the book. I actually hated the 1997 movie originally but when I thought about it afterwards, I realized what an idiot I was to take it all so seriously when it was a loose satire as opposed to a war commentary like the book.

I recognized the HALO ads, Terminator Salvation, Star Trek & I unfortunately couldn't name the videogame clips & other miscellaneous stuff.

Terrific job though. Please contact someone in L.A.

  • I liked the first movie. Then a year or two later I had the opportunity to pick up the book and read it. Instantly killed my like for the film. If you hate the book or its vision, DON'T DO THE ADAPTATION. It's not exactly rocket science to figure out.

  • @nekophht

Um...you preferred the hateful, lazy parody of American and soldiers to an honest and controversial examination of the extreme measures that prudence would allow in a universe where mankind was nothing but animals?

I'm glad though that your like for the film was killed. It was a pretty wretched and generic science fiction film.

  • @bloodrunsclear to be fair, I was young enough at the time that all I really saw was a pretty good scifi action flick with just enough plot to move from one action sequence to the next, rather than the portrayals or themes. It wasn't until 2003-2004ish that I read the book and discovered the massive disconnect between the portrayals.

Though I wonder if it would make a better miniseries than movie. More time to properly cover it all rather than cram into 60-90mins.

  • @nekophht

They sort of did! I don't know if its still on Youtube but look up Roughnecks. There was a CGI animated series that combined the movie and the book. The Roughnecks are now in powered suits and have support vehicles, but they still have the names of characters from the movie. I thought it was interesting to see a series from the perspective of soldiers, and they do some creative things with the premise.

  • @bloodrunsclear

In the 1970s they made a board wargame that is focused on the battles from the book, it's quite good, though a bit dated now.

A few years ago they put out a miniatures game based on the setting, mainly the Roughnecks animated series, though you could have the cheap troops from the movie, or the massively powerful armored suits from the book as well.

  • I fucking love you man. This is perfect, just perfect.

  • @thelostism
