:O x..i cant find infinity on this keyboard O.o sounds cool sounds amazing really. not only that but it was introduced by one of daft punks members! :D
If you happen to be in South Florida in Feb 2012, You can see the Carillion playing at the Renaissance Festival in Quiet Waters Park, Deerfield Beach, Fl. Its worth going just to hear this great set of bells. For more info, go to the link below
It looks like it is composed of many things inside it looks a piano with wooden Xylophone connected a box of bells And that is what makes it number one on our most extreme
the backing tracked killed it went to all that trouble to have some cheesy ass stuff in background. It would obviously work better without it. I love the instrument though thanks for sharing
@tallyrocks217 The way the instrument is set up might be similar to that of a piano, or something that can be put togeather at his house so he can practice say at home. Or he is able to practice using that because he has a huge property and a lot of money.
@kielwhitt10 like you know how to play one of these? not saying that i do, its just there arent many of these so its not like theres going to be a master of one of these
The Bok tower in Florida, just outside of the Tampa/St. Petersburg area, is fairly popular and has been around for years. It just isn't quite so easy to move.
I heard a concert on this instrument in, what was then my home town, Herning Denmark. It was played by two classical Danish bell players and I think all bells were used. It was fascinating and above all LOUD!
Nothing new about carillon. We have a carillon tradition in Belgium that goes back to the middle ages, and it's still alive and well. Here the carillon combined with the other instruments is a bad idea. And the silly costume and mask is way to much.
This instrument might be unique, but it still is not a pleasure to listen to a bunch of overused chimes. It's not a solo instrument and should only be used to accentuate something.
We have one of these at my Renn Faire in Tuxedo, NY. It's very impressive, I always jump in and play a bit late at night while nobody else is on the grounds.
carillons are a bit more common then people think. in the us, older multi note bell towers were smaller carillons. in fact a few shopping centers by where i grew up actually had small carillons. not 48 bell, but they were used for public performances when i was young…but like all thinks in the us, people forgot about them and they were taken down
just looked around and im really suprised to see that york minster has a bell that just comes under the weight of this entire thing, the bells 10 tons and sounds much better than all of these bells put together i think, the annoying thing about this is that the background music isnt actually being played by the carillon its being played in over the top of what hes playing, it kinda ruins it when its supposed to be a ''new age new world'' instrument
This is great, but I think this instrument should also be allowed to stand alone as a solo. It looses a lot by being paired with pre-recorded. Especially because the prerecorded music is way less innovative than the instrument its self. I would love to see more done with this instrument
I believe that he has made a cd of just the bells alone without any instrumental backup. you can look them up on the internet to reach them. Just google in cast in bronze and you should get an e-mail for any info you want.
I'm not certain how one would make it smaller. The point of the instrument is that it's made of bells. Like, churchbell style bells. Lots and lots of different bells, played rather piano style. For deeper notes, you need larger bells -- unless your listeners don't mind shrill, high pitched tones.
I've listened each time I see him at the local Ren Fest (in AZ) and it's just a pleasure to stop and listen and feel the music. It may not seem "cool," but it's very moving, in an unusual way.
He is even cooler live. The music live is just awesome. I believe he will be at the Florida Renaissance fair in quiet waters park starting Feb 13. You might check the program and take in the show.
