  • Oh. My. God. A remake of this song was in the movie Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen...

  • This man has so much class, he even makes that old hoodie, baggies and sneakers look good. LOL

  • He sang this song pretty well..........considering it has been a long time since he first sang it.

  • BOWIEEEE STRAIGHT CHILLIN!!!

  • she said david bowie was gonna be right back. where's the rest??? T.T

  • a hoodie?!?!

  • SOOO HOT STILL!!!

  • All my friends think it's weird to be attracted to a 64 year old man I think it's nice to know others are also the same p.s I'm 15

  • @cgirlrocks11

    omg! same here no lie

  • @cgirlrocks11 I agree, I am 15 myself and can't get over how hot he is!

  • @cgirlrocks11 Yeah, but they should realize that all old men were once young, and it's the amazing music that builds up an attraction. I'm 16 :D

  • Omg hes sounds awesome ! hes my favourite singer number one singer right there ! Hes soooo cuute :)

  • Something of leonard cohen

  • Looks like Earl Slick on guitar.

  • Holy shit mates I have the same haircut as David fucking Bowie... I must be channeling Bowie's awesomeness

  • so sexy he is hot

  • Piping HOT!!

  • David seems like a really cool and genuine guy! Awesome. :)

  • he deserves a generation award type of thing

  • What a great person and performer I did see him at Cobal Hall in Detroit he did that song it's a epic song so cool thanks .

  • Love your comment carliex...He is David Fucking Bowie...he can wear and do what he wants

  • i must say, he is AWESOME and i LOVE HIIM!!!!!!!!! but,he does sound better with The spiders from mars...

  • Pretty soon now you're gonna get older ... unless you're David Bowie!

  • Still hot

  • i love how he dresses in everyday clothes

  • He needs to do another tour!! If given the opporunity, I can honestly say I would kill a man to get to go to it. He is the only celebrity I have ever worshipped.

  • @OMGmonsters same here

  • I've watched his interview countless times, but this is the first time I've actually seen the performance. How did I not know ugh, David Bowie AND Tina Fey! To be in the audience...

  • See, this is what music is suppose to be. You can wear the most commonplace thing but if you have the talent, then it speaks for itself. Bowie was and is an innovator who pushed the envelope, but he was always classy and unique. He never seemed like he was doing it for the attention, and the talent was always, always there..unlike some today who have to wear raw meat to feel unique...

  • He's one of the few artists whose voices has just gotten better over time. I want to go to a Bowie concert so much!

  • sexiest voice. ever!

  • I personally love his outfit! looks comfy <3

  • While artists like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston have destroyed their voices, BOWIE sounds better than ever. PLEASE BOWIE tour again!!!! The world needs your special gift!!!

  • AHAHAHAAAAA his voice is so lovely...even after all these years...

  • LMAO david bowie amd ellen have the same lesbian haircut

  • I think I would cry if I ever were to see him live. <3

  • i love this song.

    i'm a 16 year old girl

    and his is my hero<3

  • @Shaybay45 yeah well Im 12 and he's my hero. I win >:D

  • how can one looks so hot while wearing sweats

  • Who cares about the clothes?!

  • He sings this?

  • @Coolysouthkid Yes, he sings this. Fab isn't he!!!!

  • David could dress up head to toe in a phony Gucci outfit from a swap meet and STILL look good! LOL!

The man is a fashion icon. He's very casual yet he still looks very nice. I like what he is wearing. One of the things I love about this man is that he can rock almost anything and make it look damn good!

  • I hear this and I think in Shrek

  • Comment removed

  • I love that he's like 70 and can look amazing in a baggy hoody!

  • @cashineen92 Whoah, he's like 57 there, lol. He's 63 now. 70?!!

  • @cashineen92 He's not 70... And Bowie always looks great in anything he wears.

  • @DBCrowns hes 57 i think here

  • i like his outfit! he doesn't have to wear exploding tits or a dead animal to appeal like our bud lady gaga

  • What is he wearing? Ugh...

  • the dude has still got it

  • Aww man he shoulda done station to station.

  • He sure went thru alot of changes. Brilliant!

  • I look at Lady Gaga ... and I wonder if it isn't history repeating itself. Back when DB started they thought he was soo freaky ... but what talent. Let's see if in 35 years time Lady G is doing talk shows and covering "Poker face" like that ...

  • @CJLind David Bowie is an original, Gaga is a copy... thats why 35yrs on Bowie is still respected and timeless.. 35 yrs from now people will still be talking about the original... David Bowie.

  • Ok, this has been driving me crazy. I came home from work the day this aired originally and watched Bowie sing 2 songs...Changes, and what other song? I remember my mom and I both thinking he sounded exceptional, and she's not a fan. I have not been able to find out what that other song was...please, if anyone knows, PLEASElet me know...Thanks:)

  • @christinechurch1963

the first song that plays as he comes out to meet ellen is Rebel Rebel

  • ah man if i was there i would run and catapult over the stage and glomp him :)

  • he looks like most twentty year olds. UTERLLY AMAZING. His voice has gotten so fantatic if thats possible he was already the best singer in the world. I want to see him live so bad!!!!!!! No one can do an impersanation of DAVID FREACKIN BOWIE hes to amazing. Take that Adam Lambert!! You butchered that song!!!!! I dont know how to rate it yet but if i could it would be infinate and beond. WE LOVE YOU DAVID BOWIE!!!!!!

  • he's still got it. :)

  • bowie and weller have maintained their fire and style- both of them the best of their generations!

  • Fucking idol

  • Time may change me, but I can't trace time. Awesome line. Rock it out, Bo-waayyy!!! <3

  • greatest living artist on this planet... no doubt!

  • my favorite song of all time. And Bowie look badass in this clip

  • He's dressed like a teenager!

  • he shoulda gone on as ziggy

  • He looks so out of place wearing that, but I think it's pretty awesome that he can just go on tv looking like that and not care :D

  • Haha, I love how he looks with that!

  • @RebiiJay Funny, because he was wearing an outfit like that with Iggy in NY in '77. If anybody is entitled to wear whatever is the Chamaleon. If you are that young to think like that, change, change, because do not let nobody disenfranchise you ever

  • How Many Times Must I Say I Love Him!!!!

  • Yay David!!!! <3

  • Migod, he was always great, and he´ll always be great.

  • you said a big true.

  • well, one thing it to watch Ellen´s show, and another completely different thing is a performer like David Bowie - He´s AMAZING, I don´t care what talk show he goes to.

  • Great song. Horrific clothes and hair.

  • @DeccaQuinne

Bowie was chosen one of the fifth 5th most influential fashion icons in the world. He never looks bad!

  • He said himself he didn't care about fashion... he was only creating characters... this character is obviously someone's Dad having a mid-life crisis who can't be bothered getting dressed up just to appear on an American daytime chat show esp. when he's just got off the plane from the East Coast... he's detailed that way....

  • Straaange fascinaaation fascinating me!

  • great

  • His image was everything! Now he's wearing a hoodie :( Well....changes....as he says.

  • Great performance. His lyrics are always relevant no matter what year it is!

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice but what the heck is he wearing there? ;)

  • I agree. Bowie is a musical and fashion genius. Everything he did was ahead of his time. True showmanship and talent.

  • who playes the bass....? same as with paul weller ?

  • Gail Ann Dorsey

  • @RealCoolCat I created a Gail Ann Dorsey for Rock Band. LOL!

  • Who gives a damn if he's wearing a hoodie and jeans.

He's David Bowie. He can't dress like Jareth the Goblin King in this day and age.

As sexy as that outifit was in Labyrinth....

  • It's funny because Bowie is so fucking cool he's even ahead of people 40 years younger than him. This was 2004 and five years later every little piece of shit hipster in new york is wearing this exact outfit.

  • and he even dressed like a complete homo who wasn't gay 30 years ahead of time in the early 70's

  • Totally. NOBODY was wearing hoodies way back in 2004.

  • i feel vaguely dissapointed about him wearing a hoodie and jeans instead of something a bit more amazing... with a cape. because whenever i think of David Bowie, i always imagine him in a cape.

  • A true rock legend if there ever was.

  • Tim Kring used the chorus of this song as a name for one of the heroes S3episodes

  • sexiest voice ever

  • David Bowie and Joan Jett have found the fountain of youth or something.

  • boatloads of cocain

  • I think they've actually discovered a fountain of botox

  • The Thin White Duke ;)

  • I don't get why people are commenting on his outfit so much.

    He's David Fucking Bowie .

    Let it go.

  • @carliex3 Amen! I actually love how he dresses very casually. Just goes to show that you can be a multi-millionaire rock god and still be down to earth. :)

  • @carliex3

That fact that he IS David Bowie makes him hot no matter what he's wearing.

  • I don't like the version of the song he made with Butterfly Boucher for Shrek 2. He only got a view solos of his own. Plus the music didn't fit the song. I like his version better.

  • @carliex3 And David Bowie is the sexiest man ever, naked, dressed like a slut or like a jogger!

  • Sounds like he sneezes in the beginning.

  • LOL yeah it does.

  • i totally agree.

    dude is pure sex

  • He. Is. Sex.

    QED

  • Well, even I would like to wear someting more comfortable if I had his kind of outfits.

  • I LOVE DAVID BOWIEE!!! i his youngest biggest fan!!!!!!

  • ey dude, I'm his youngest biggest fan! I'm 14! !

  • im 12, so im younger than you. :p

  • on your profile you're 18 .. How come?..

  • because my brother registered me and he put his age.

  • I'm 14 too.

    We're tied.

  • cool, bowie fans ! ;D

  • hahh im 14 too. been a fan since i was like 5

  • I want to know what i did

  • Nothing. Don't worry, people just freak out so easily on the intenet. It's easy to offend people when you are not facing them. I don't know if he played other songs. I've never even noticed the other guitars until you brought it up.

  • thanks man

  • I kinda liked his old look.. Maybe not that nice, but at least he was himself :-)

  • Earl Slick and Mike Garson still rock. Great foundation for his band.

  • did he play more songs because i saw a couple of guitars and nobody had used them?

  • all i was asking were there more songs that were played b/c i saw some guitars that were still in the stands or were they just for show i have no idea how I've just become you're opponent but what ever i actually have a life not to sit on the computer all day and insult people i have a band that is taking off and David bowie is one of my inspiration.Whatever screw you.

  • i want to know what i did

  • i was just asking a question

  • tell me where you live and i'll kick youre ass

  • do i know you

  • i was really just asking a question

  • Was the question why you're a fucktard?

  • For MartianCactusFarmer

You need to learn better adjectives. Your speech is pathetic.

  • it's probably a precaution incase anything should happen(string break, wiring problem.. it happens) so there is a guitar waiting to replace one if needs be. Ofcourse in a concert hall, behind the scenes guitars are lined up and theres a tech' waiting to hand one over when needed, but in the TV studio there is less space, wich is probably why they are on stage, not behind it. Notice with at least one of the amps(maybe on the others I didnt notice) there is also a spare amp head by the side too ;)

  • he still sounds as fantastic as ever!

  • this fantastic man gives me chills down my spine!

  • the only person who can pull off that outfit and look amazing. *dreamy sighh

  • Anyone else find this a bit sad?

  • WHAT exactly do you find sad about it? Can you be more specific please? Curious if you could identify the specific sadness - is it the sweatshirt?

  • Bowie in the '70's was the ultimate in cool subersive alternative creativity that even his fans couldn't pigeon-hole and his music was endlessly inventive and brilliant

I assumed he would continue to be a force of constantly changing new things - especially musically

if you had told me when I was a teenager and Bowie was my idol that 30 years later he'd be doing a mediocre version of a 35 year-old song on daytime TV in a sweatshirt I would have laughed in your face

  • the only reason why i would have a problem with this is that he has a new cd out at this time and decided to sing a song from 33 years before this.

  • The last 2 or 3 times I've seen him on UK tv he has either sang 'Changes' or 'Young Americans'

And in my opinion sang them really badly

  • Yes - I see your point. The "construction" of his image (and songs for that matter) as much better back then - I know 2 people who worked with him during Ziggy days, heard many stories - he was very smart in who he chose to work with - they brought much to his presentation of self.

I think that (ugly) sweatshirt is Tommy Hilfiger (yuck) and they seem to sponsor him - oh well...

    ;-)

  • As you can see from the response on here people are more than happy with the diluted safe mainstream Bowie which is fine

And for his part Bowie is doing what needs to be done to keep himself in seatshirts

That's fine too - he has contributed enormously and deserves to do whatever he likes

Personally I find him boring and a bit sad but I can play all the old stuff to my heart's content

  • Most human beings are not very extreme in their expectations, either for themselves or for those they admire. Only real artists have very high expectations, the rest just watch.

Though I dont like remixes, I thought the Moby remix of "Sunday" was great late Bowie, and he is very charming and funny SPEAKING with Ellen on the show - but the "look" is not fierce by any means.

NO ONE looks good in a sweatshirt on TV - the slobification of America!! ;-)

  • i see your point....bit sad maybe

  • Classic. Its Grand Theft Bowie.

  • hes so hot :D and hes 50 years older than me :P

  • I love the ol bastard. He doesn't get tired performing the old classics, he just sings them weirder and weirder with more and more energy. He's actually becoming more Bowiesque as the years roll on.

  • Earl Slick still looks damned good for 57 YO as well...

  • hes like 57 there and he still makes me melt(= although hes like 44 years older then me there. yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • this is the reason i love bowie.. he's still hisself

  • it doesn't matter what he's wearing! this was the man who wore a ilver suit for god sakes! HE'S DAVID BOWIE! He can wear what he bloddy likes and still look hot....*drools*

  • god i love that outfit

  • It's a sweat shirt. He's David Bowie, like they say, he can wear whatever he wants, and looks hot in it;)

  • time will change me, i cant trace time. one of the the best lyric line of the 20yh century

  • Is that Meshell N'degeocello on bass?

  • Nah. Gail Ann Dorsey.

  • what the hell is he wearing?! I like ziggy stardust better but this is still awesome

  • the one and only..David Bowie..hes so amazing:))..and nice looking too:D

  • david bowie is amazing and he will always rock

  • wonderful

  • That's one of the best perfomances of "Changes"!!!

  • there is no telling how many times he's performed this song hahahaha

    he's still so hot.

  • this and ziggy stardust

  • Amen

  • I love his music and his voice!

  • That man went through hell..I've always admired him.

  • david bowie wears sweats? there's hope for me yet!
