@SteeLoW1 I will update this video each year as the new statistics become available. I also forgot some others important issues. I just realized that with the new marriage certifcates that do not include gender or the biological parent (husband, wife, father, mother) there will not be a way for some children to find their real ancestry. This is completely overlooked. People with complicate and confused lineage history will have to deal with real consequences they are not aware of.

I think that marriage not working for straight people has nothing to do with the fact that gay people can get married . It's just because does not work as it is supposed to, more than half of marriages end up in divorce even in countries where gay marriage is not allowed. Maybe people should just acknowledge that when you get married the greater odds are that you are getting divorced after a while.

Schools are just interested to prepare people for jobs and not for life and having great family. There is over a million of divorces each year and 80% are forced divorce where one spouse is trying to keep the family together and the other one is abandoning ship. That is very abusive. When you start talking about 3 or more, that is legitimately different from the rights that go with pairing of 2 people (ie marrying). If the US supreme court accept the legal argument for one, they have to accept the other. It would be a matter of fairness. My understanding of gay marriage is that it's more "complicated" than straight marriage. For instance, gay marriage appears to still be incomplete in relation to legal matters when compared to straight marriage. So therefore, while it shared similarities alot of gay couples would be no better off in marriage than out. As for the destruction of the family unit there's a rise in same-sex families and their children tend to be more tolerant and open-minded than their counterparts!

There is no correlation between garriage and divorce in the world. I am from Russia, where garriage is forbidden and in the same time we have 63 % of divorces. I think there are other reasons. Perhaps it has correlation with the fact that women now are more independent. Here we say that in 70 % divorces are initiated by woman. In Islamic countries the situation is different. This is a payment for the independence. The patriarchal system slowly goes down.

I just realized that with the new marriage certifcates that do not include gender or the biological parent (husband, wife, father, mother) there will not be a way for some children to find their real ancestry. This is completely overlooked. People with complicate and confused lineage history will have to deal with real consequences they are not aware of.

I think that marriage not working for straight people has nothing to do with the fact that gay people can get married . It's just because does not work as it is supposed to, more than half of marriages end up in divorce even in countries where gay marriage is not allowed. Schools are just interested to prepare people for jobs and not for life and having great family. There is over a million of divorces each year and 80% are forced divorce where one spouse is trying to keep the family together and the other one is abandoning ship. That is very abusive. Here in the USA the main issue is that rights should be for ALL Americans, not just those in the majority or those in power or those who are popular or... When you start talking about 3 or more, that is legitimately different from the rights that go with pairing of 2 people (ie marrying). I don't "have a dog in this fight," but it seems clearly a matter of including all Americans in rights granted. It's a matter of fairness.

If the US supreme court accept the legal argument for one, they have to accept the other. It would be a matter of fairness. The only solution is not to redefine marriage and create civil unions for everything else.

My undergrad degree is in engineering, so it's easy for me to see a difference between 2 and >2. If there are benefits to pairing of people, we should let people pair as they choose. It seems so clear to me, but I guess you see it another way. I pray that fairness and justice prevails.

Nobody expected this to happen so soon even while same sex marriage has not even reached the supreme court. If you use the benefit of pairing two people of the same sex, I can find a much greater benefit of pairing two people of complementary sex otherwise you would not even be here to talk about it, since you would not even exist.

My understanding of gay marriage is that it's more "complicated" than straight marriage. For instance, gay marriage appears to still be incomplete in relation to legal matters when compared to straight marriage. So therefore, while it shared similarities alot of gay couples would be no better off in marriage than out. As for the destruction of the family unit there's a rise in same-sex families and their children tend to be more tolerant and open-minded than their counterparts!

There is no correlation between garriage and divorce in the world. I am from Russia, where garriage is forbidden and in the same time we have 63 % of divorces. I think there are other reasons. Perhaps it has correlation with the fact that women now are more independent. Here we say that in 70 % divorces are initiated by woman. In Islamic countries the situation is different. This is a payment for the independence. The patriarchal system slowly goes down.

Well, this certainly proves that you can put "make-up" on statistics and prove just about everything. But instead of pointing out the obvious, that the decline in Dutch marriages has nothing to do with gay marriages, but other factors of life. I would just like to point out that I come from a country (Norway) second in the world after Denmark to allow same sex registered partnarships in the early 90`s. And here the divorce rates of such are pretty similar to "ordinary" marriages. Sorry.
