someone needs to put the tab up for the beginning guitar world is too lazy for not including it assuming everyone knows the theory... but that being said an awesome rendition , im big on Jazz but I sort of like this, a bit long but big deal the original was.
always considered him one of the finest metal players, and now I see how god he is even more. far too many bad players in metal, but alex is truly a master. I enjoyed the album very much.
Alex Skolnick Trio will be appearing Live at Best Buy Oxford Valley in Fairless Hills, Pa....right outside of Philly, Monday December 5th at 3pm for a free performance and meet and greet
Looks like there are much less dicks here than what you usually find on Metal related videos,no one yet has mentioned how this sucks,or how Alex totally rapes Kirk at guitar,or how Metallica are sellouts and only made 4 good albums.
@Easleytee Harmonicaly provocative, does this mean he plays all the notes he shouldn't play? Like playing in C and only playing sharps without a single natural.
...really do not understand what exciting is in this version Fade to Black. I like Alex's music with Testament but his solo's career is a little bit ridiculous...They do not play JAZZ but something next to. I know that Metallica is really happy that Alex play their songs as classics.
@10mesiek it's a classy interpretation of a classic song! Obviously its not completely jazz, but the Trio's take on the song is really fresh and different, which is what makes it awesome.
@10mesiek If by ridiculous you mean't that he creates his own path in music, then yes, he's 'ridiculous'. Further more, this is a Jazz interpretation of the song. This album has received great reviews from many Jazz sites and even radio stations like Jazz 91,1 FM. Alex should be applauded for not only branching out into other areas of music, but by also bringing Metal music into the musical landscape of Jazz (Which is only fair, since Metal has borrowed quite a lot from it).
This cover sounds too happy, and it takes the original vibe away. In the other hand, for been a Jazz interpretation; it kicks ass. Check Alex playing with Rodrigo y Gabriela in their song "Hanuman." Now, that song is a classic. Long live metal, and their infinite branches.
@Krow83 If you read my original comment I said not bad at all. Still don't care to hear it enough to purchase the cd. Interesting the first time, but forgettable in the long run for me.
@AHTSvideo no you tit! this is fade to black and they slip "one" into this song, dont try n be a smart arse n say the other song came first! we dont care stop trollin!
@npd23 so I made a comment before I watched the whole thing.. oh no, it's the end of the world. No, I'm human, you see, we make these things called mistakes. But seeing as you lost your cool at this little misunderstanding, you must be perfect, and never make mistakes.
@AHTSvideo the only thing that makes me lose my cool on youtube is smart arses trying to be clever little know-it-alls, if you`ve nothing positive to say why bother, im far from perfect but then i dont claim to be nor do i spend my life trolling like some of us......
Drums are too much, but apart from that it's a pretty nice arrangement. If only the drummer wasn't so busy.

Far more advanced and harmonically provocative.

@Harrysound OH! I wore that single out! Live from Moscow, Monsters of Rock, the crowd was insane. Best recording of Metallica I ever heard.
