I got the reissues right before X-Mas and been listening to them ever since. Is so cool to have those jewels now on CD (I have most of SP records on tape or vynil)and with such a great sound quality.Siamese Dream means so much to me as brings me back to 1993(early 90's, great times) and learning to play guitar to their songs.
I just want to express how greatful I am for this two reissues and the great work beyond.
I'm going crazy (waiting for the rest of the reissues)!!!
@panicg It's a Martin. Not sure of the model just now, but it's definitely one of their higher-end models. Truly beautiful. I own a Martin, an 000-15. Rich mahogany. Martin's are known for their beautiful, warm tones. I'm truly in love with them and would KILL for the one Billy's playing in this video.
@Poenut Thanx for the tip. It's actually Martin D45. I own myself a Martin D15 which is a beautiful guitar, but this baby with its price of above 7000€ (9000$) is a perfection :) I didn't recognized it's a Martin since it has the Martin sign written differently compared to the other models.
Oh my god...these two albums speak to my soul like nothing else. It is the epitome of youthful irreverence and bliss and hopes and dreams. I'm 29...trying to hold on to whatever I can of all that. Getting older fucking SUCKS. This music has such an aching yearning to it for me...
@avedic I'm 31 and know exactly what you mean. There's just something about saying goodbye to your 20's. Those are just supposed to be the coolest years of one's life and you ca never really get that back....and yes, these two albums definitely speak to that part of ourselves.
My wife randomly entered my email into the Loudwire giveaway for the Gish and Siamese Dream reissues and I won. Ha ha. Should be getting them in a few days. Can't freaking wait! I love my wife. :)
I got my copies of this great reissues right before X-mas;what a great gift!
The Metro shows are great, the extra material is awesome, the remaster and 2011 remixes sound incredible, the booklet, the post cards and yes, those boxes where to keep such treasures are "brilliant"...
I can't wait to see and listen to the rest of the reissues and of course, the new material.
Oh,yeah,listen to S.P's U.S.A and then Beck's Profanity Prayers...
I was listening to Gish in my car the other day..I pulled into the store parking lot and sat there till the cd was over..I had it turned up really loud and people just kept walking by.. good stuff...I just had to play it through...
@ak47popper I met him once. He's nice. I don't get this whole "Billy Corgan is a dick" thing. I have to admit that I'm more thrilled about the reissues than his new stuff. But, I did see him in Seoul in 2010 and I can tell you the new band is great live.
@ak47popper Me, too. I have two copies of Mellon Collie on vinyl already (I got them way back in early 96 for $50 each), but would like to hear how the remastered versions sounds. Plus, the extra should be worth it. I posted all the demo plus the show of the day of release (I listened to that the day it was broadcast in 95). You can check them out on my page. Man, I miss those days.
Billy Corgan I know that you are a pefectionist and I respect that so how about a Smashing Pumpkins Music Video Blu-Ray collection! Including your recent videos, old videos and never before seen music videos from the 90's! Remasted in high deff with DTS HD MASTER AUDIO! Please make this awesome kick ass Blu-Ray real! :)
@steveparadox1 maybe they will in time. right now they taking care of business with the 1st 2 cds. rome wasnt built in a day my friend. sit back and relax.
as a huge fan of smashing pumpkins it is so sad to see billy corgan to be such an asshole...the older i get the more i refuse my creative past???? ahh...shit...
These reissues are great! I'm especially looking forward to the "Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness" reissue since it's my all-time favorite album by any band thus far.
When he says that they were criticized for "being too good" I think the criticism was more in the line of, the quality of the albums completly dwarfed the live efforts. They sound great studio but never pull it off live quite as well as one would expect.
I bought both of the Deluxe re-issues. They really are awesome, especially for the price. The remasters are nice and aren't drastically different from the original albums which is what i was afraid that they would be (that they would sound completely different). All i really notice is that they are louder, but not "clipping loud" and they are a little bit fuller sounding too. The bonus cd's are very cool too, i love the tracks that are on them. The dvd's are awesome as well. Good job Billy!
I just got a new ipod, and was standing there remembering for some reason that I didnt have a digital copy of Gish, completely forgetting the fact that it was being reissued. "I should really buy that album", I think. I load up the ipods apple store and first thing I see is the reissued gish on the music page. I bought it instantly. Also the vid is 5:55 seconds long. That was pointless but I dont care, Im gonna go listen to Siva.
I have listened to the Pumpkins EVERYDAY for nearly 22 years and I still find nuances I've never heard before. I have my brother to thank for that - cheers bro.
I can say without the slighest doubt I WILL be buying one of each reissue from the pumpkins. I still have every CD/Casette I bought when they first came out and it will be an honor to have the reissues too! The pumpkins helped me now I'll help them by continuing to support
My Onlineshop sent out the Siamese Dream Deluxe Edition yesterday. I expect it tomorrow. Juhuuuuuuu! I loooove Siames Dream so much. Greetz from Berlin!
Who know the "Crazy" chord was just G on the wrong fret?? I think, after wailing like Hendrix for an album, to then end on the classic beginner guitarist's mistake chord -that says something about Corgan's sense of humour.
@PorkSodaOnTheRocks i pre-ordered from the band's site. ... thought pre-ordering meant i'd get them release day ... not ... well, whenever. still looking forward to watching the dvds though
