Good effort Matt. Have lived with AS since I was 24 - am now going on 49. Original diagnosis was back injury caused by pole line ladder work while working for Telecom NZ. Must say, the effects of AS have decreased over the years. At it's worst, I can still remember having to roll out of bed in agony & physically crawl to get some pain relief. Brufen 800mg retard is/was my friend...
Saw this on TV last night, totally unexpected to see an awareness campaign on AS especially being a 24 yo living with AS for the past 5 years (was diagnosed at 19 in 2nd year of uni). Big ups to Matt and the org for getting it out there
This is great. I was diagnosed with AS last year and it was a difficult to come to terms with being an active, healthy 26 year old. Nice to see some awareness being raised about it.
The advert is right too, I've gone from chronic pain to occasional flareups thanks to meds, diet and lifestyle. It's a pretty lonely disease, the more info and understanding the better.
