No one seems to be mentioning the appropriate codec for CamStudio on Vista; there was one user who used DivX Pro and it seemed to have been stable enough to record - can anyone confirm this?
What is amazing is that the solution sat in that "Compatibility" tab. I put Camstudio directly onto my memory stick, and now I can "adjust it" to any computer I like by simply changing the compatibility mode. I'm really grateful for your video - thank you for showing how simple the solution was. I love using Camstudio; I couldn’t bear the thought of not having it on Vista or Windows 7.
I have a really weird problem. I can get CamStudio to work fine until I try to record something. It doesn't record anything; it just sits there on the "0 seconds recorded" screen and does nothing. And when I stop, it doesn't even attempt to save. Do you know anywhere that I could get some help for this problem?
I have done all that you say but the videorecorder said to me that there is a problem with: MFC71.DLL it also saids me that i have to reinstall and i have also done... Can you said me why i can't run the programme plz Thank you...
my problem is that it wont let me install it..when i try to install it to any path (ex: Desktop, downloads c:user/blah blah) it says cannot install in this path choose a different path..TO EVERY PATH THAT I CHOOSE......help?
Help! I'm using a Windows Vista. My CamStudio's version is 2.0 when I try to record a video, the results only comes with a video and no audio was recorded. My sound card's from Realtek. Can anyone help me?
Under "Options" menu, make sure "Do Not Record Audio" is not checked. "Record Audio From Speakers" does not always work. Are you using a microphone? If so, make sure the microphone volume is up (Click on the speaker icon in your taskbar [by the clock]and make sure your Mic Input is not muted. If none of this helps, please reply for more advanced solutions.
it depends on your sound card if you have stereomix or something else, i have waveoutmix and it's exactly the same thing, although you also have to check show disabled devices by right clicking for it to show up
i have a problem when i record something and view it comes out all wrong like the screen is cut in half one on one side and the other 1 on the other if you don't know wat im talking about ill upload video
thanks :) because it says my speakers are incompatible with vista so camstudio cant connect to the speakers, even though i can still hear through them :\

I tried a Stereo Mix method from another guy, it works great now, but only the video's very choppy.

Sounds like a codec problem. Try changing the codec used for encoding ( Options, Video Options, Compressor) to a different codec.
