  • so epic

  • You wanna be sharp cat?

  • @Stopedancer GO APE!

  • Hah. That yell sounds just like Tarzan in Tarzan the Fearless (1933). I can't watch that one without thinking of this. It's so ridiculous!

  • His very best recording, I heard this first in 1956 or 7 when I was ateenager. Istill know every word and I had "Wild Dogs of Kentucky" on the B side. This guy never had a B side though.

  • There was a B side but sadly I can't recall what it was!

  • @FireMonty Wild Dog of Kentucky was the UK b-side. Was that what you're thinking of?

  • I just found this in my dads collection, its bonkers

  • Where did he do his recordings... in the shower room next to the gym?

  • this was played all the time on forces radio when I was in cyprus in 57 Brought back many good memories

  • Tarzan is back in the jungle.

  • Holy crap - I thought this guy's stuff was lost forever. Then I remembered YouTube - where EVERYTHING can be found. Whew...!

  • LIKE WOWSVILLE MAN. DIG IT,

  • @jessieoo1 I'm hip.

  • Yeah, we haven't changed a bit have we cats

  • I remember when this was released. I thought it would be a big hit but it never got high on the charts. The same was true with After the Lights Go Down Low by Al Hibbler which came out about the same time. Great oldie.

  • Nervous Norvus came up with doodly long before Ned Flanders.

  • Best song EVER! haha

    =^^)

    doodly-ah-bah

    ;^)

  • @alivingfire

  • @alivingfire

I haven't heard this since I was 10!!!!! Agreed!!! THANK YOU for sharing this hilarious gem!!!!

  • I have always sung this and nobody believed it was really a song. Now here's proof!

Thanks for that oldie but goodie. Ahhheeeaaaaaaaaah

  • Does anyone remember the SPARKLETTS man commercials? What ever happened to the Sparkletts man?

  • This is the earliest 78 I recall - I can just see Dad pushing the drawer of the Regentone Auto 99 gently in so the needle wouldn't jump!

  • Ape Call is a follow-up to his 1956 hit Transfusion. Nervous Norvus was born Jimmy Drake 1912-1968. He was 56 when he died on 7-24-68. Great talent he was.

  • Thanks for sharing this lost tune. Didn't even know that Nervous Norvus made another song.

  • Great oldie from the 1950's.

  • Meekfreak has a copy of this on 45--but your 78 is really sharp! Thx Liz--a milli!!

  • Fantastic, thanks for posting this. It's My Dads favourite record, He had a 78 of it which My aunt sat on and broke in Two, I dont think he ever forgave Her !!

I cant wait to show Him this !!

  • Looks like it is in amazing condition, as well!!!!

  • THAT IS AWESOME!!!! I just love it and am gonna search for it! Thanks for that!

  • "sort of a stork-lookin' bat"

  • Liz, thanks for making this available. I was very pleased to find it, as I thought I would probably never hear it again.

  • The very end of the song is a sounder used on one of my local radio stations, WAPE-FM, 95.1 in Jacksonville, Florida.
