If You Must and Pen Cap Chew are my two favorite Nirvana songs and I think it's mainly because Dale Crover was drumming with them at the time. Course they had a few drummers in between Chad and Dave. Hell they even jammed with the drummer of Mudhoney! :)

Krist was there from the beginning so that counts for something but Kurt wrote almost all of the lyrics and was the major force behind the music that they crafted. The current success of Dave shows that he must have been more than just a ride-along musician but Kurt was undoubtedly the creative vision in Nirvana. Pat Smears was a great addition at the end, I sure would have loved to hear them continue with him. Kurt #1!
