the root note bass note will be the key of the song. so em but its a note up because the capo so...F# minor is the key. Note that you can move the capo to your voice!!

no, he doesn't. he can still play it, it will just be in a different Key.

Not necessarily mate. If you don't have a capo you just have to change the frets.

For example without the capo, his third fret (the one right after the capo) is the first fret in your guitar. And his fourth fret is your second fret... and so on.

This is assuming your guitar is in standard tuning. (E A D G B E).

You can make one by placing a pen or sturdy pencil over the fret you want, and looping a (pretty inflexible) rubberband around one end of the pencil, pulling it (tightly) under the neck and looping it over the other end of the pencil. If you still get buzz off the strings, add another tighter rubber band or use a smaller band. I don't have a capo either and this works pretty well for me :)
