  • Who did the music for the loading theme in the beginning? I'd kill for a remix of it that remains true to its Amiga roots.

  • Best shoot'em up i've ever played

  • God I remember that isometric font.

  • Good job! I played this game for years like a fanatic, but never made it to the end.

  • Big skills. To remain focused for that long was epic! Classic game played by a pro....

    Amiga for life!

  • bad ass music

  • Games like this changed my sleep patterns forever!..lol.. They were great.....

I still have two amiga 2000s - they still work....... Amiga fan forever!

  • wouldn't a 3d version of this game be so cool

  • Man! memories like fingerprints are slowly raising...

  • funny tho plasma effect on the main start screen in the uk was blue not red.

  • class game ah the memories. tho emma cuberley who did the voiceover sounds like she has no interest at all, land now, bomb torpedo, player one destroyed, i have absolutley no emmotion in my voice lol

  • Fantastic soundtrack. Where's all the good music in the games nowadays?

  • This game was just fucking brilliant (both on the Amiga and C64).

    Andrew was my hero.

    Paradroid was awesome as well..

  • Long live Uridium!

  • One thing i never got about this game was what did you have to do to let it land your ship to go into the core?

  • Fly the right way up over the different looking runway at the end of the ship slowly when you get the LAND NOW message. Also hope that no stray enemies try to kill you when you're trying to land, that's the biggest joystick breaker I know.

  • But how do you get the land now message? It always seemed to choose itself when it let you land

  • Basically, keep shooting the enemies and breakable targets on the hull, and it will eventually come on. It does seem fairly random, but after a while, you'll work out roughly when it's going to turn on.

  • Amazing music... only Amiga made it possible.

  • Agreed! Superb music & sound, even better when my Amiga was hooked up through my stereo!

Thanks cubex55 for the fond memories!

  • Andrew Braybrook learned to program 50 frames a second from Turrican creators.

  • Great game, fantastic music and fx too, first thing i ever played on my Amiga 1200

  • dude, thanks for posting this vid. you just made my day, and brought back one hell of a sense of nostalgia. i loved this game. thanks man

  • ALso proudly played 1 on the C64 !!!

For that time it was amazing.

  • I am proud to say i played No1 on the Commodore64

Both were Simply amazing for their time.

  • Go Copper go! move #f00, $dff000 Ah crap I forgot everything :)

  • This was one of the many great games on the Amiga 500. I just love the music too!

  • AH The Name Andrew Braybrook And Graftgold Brings back old memorys

  • God, why didn't the Amiga ever come to Malaysia? I'd kill for games like these.

  • This was the first game I worked on (stephen rushbrook) and I was responsible for fleets 1,2 and 4, also the reactor room art and most of the loading screens. I also did the level design for my fleets where as Andrew did the level design for the other three. the loading screen with the power suits was the first piece of pencil art of mine ever scanned into a computer :)

  • Great graphics and a great game! Are you still in the industry?

  • yup, sure am. currently out here in Australia working for Blue Tongue. my latest game (de Blob) is due for release later this year.

  • Any chance of making a comeback with this title?

  • unlikely... Jester interactive bought up all the Graftgold titles when Graftgold went under and have been sitting on them ever since. I would love to own the right so I could being updated versions to PSN, Live, Wii-ware

  • Im not a big fan of smileys. But :( Awesome game. You really have to learn how to play it. Flying around fast on later fleets will really fuck you over.

  • @ohnhai Well done with that loading screen, i thought it was magnificent when it first saw it :) Actually, i thought Andrew was only person responsible in making the game because when it was being developed i remember reading its work in progress in the publication "The One" and if memory serves me, Andrew was the only one mentioned :(

Anyway, well done!! You have made your mark in Amiga and computing history!

  • @ohnhai great work, used to love this game

  • This was one of my favourite shooters for Amiga, a seriously underrated and untalked about game. Great music too. Thanks for the vid!

  • I think the amiga has a sid chip, i wonder if this is true?

  • Nope C64 has - Amiga has Paula

  • @cubex55 well i know c64 has a sid, just thought amiga had a siddy sort of chip as they are both commodore

  • @rainxxxx LoL!

  • @rainxxxx Amiga has waveform/samples. 4x 8-bit channels, 2 left and 2 right. The C64 has a SID that has 3 synthchannels, no native sample, but with creative programming, the volume setting could be used to produce a wavechannel for drums or guitar parts. But out of 64 KB RAM, it couldnt have too long samples if there should be room enough for a game/demo with graphics, music etc.

  • awesome music, loads of graphics, lots of audio and visual effects, a massive amount of levels, with 97 minutes of gameplay, and all of it fits (as i recall) on only two discs!? how the heck did they do that O_o?

  • I only ever had a demo of this game that came on the front of a magazine- I played it for years just for that music....

  • ROFL I had the same disk wasn't it transparent

orange or green something like that

  • If it's the same one I had, it's transparent green.

  • I was just humming this tune as I found some old amiga floppy disks!! Yeah the demo I had was on a green semi-transparent floppy, think it came on the front cover of "One Amiga" issue 62 (Nov 1993). Top demo & game!!

  • I had that demo! it was awesome! i sometimes could get 2 ships flying at once but i never knew how. So i just bashed my keyboard in hope it would ._.

*too lazy to log on to own youtube account

  • @FireKracker i wonder if all of the demo disks were like that no matter what the mag... i have a green transparent demo disk of this from amiga format (poss 1993 christmas edition), got it with my first amiga... probably the first thing i ever played on it. Great music and artwork, particularly the loading tune at the start. All its missing is the crunching of the disk access noise.:)

  • I had the full game, awesome awesome game.

Cost me £8 in old Irish money back in the day.

Sold my Amiga 500 and all my games, including this one, to my mate when his amiga broke down, so I dont have it anymore.

    Shame really, great system.

  • Quanto ho giocato a qesto gioco... fantastico!!!

  • 97 MINUTES!

  • Nice video as always, but you misspelled "Longplay" in the title.
