this is pretty sweet. just got into renoise myself, the only experience i have with trackers is lsdj for the gameboy. how did you make the weird tonal snare thing? retrig and reverb?
wow, this is great. been looking at getting renoise for a while. have been using reason and ableton for years, but downloaded the RNoise demo today and am pretty overwhelmed. cheers to more great tracks!
most trackers have a retrigger command that you can sequence. If not most allow for sample offset, so you can set the tracker to 8/8 time(for 32nd notes) and then for the snare rush have the snare then a secuence of playing the snare from a specific spot using the sample offset.
Awesome song! Where is the best place to start gathering samples from? I just got Renoise and it doesn't have many samples to work with. Any tips for a Renoise newb?
I think you should gather samples from wherever, get a good portable recording device, like a zoom or something from a music gear store. Collect it from movies. Of course you can pick up sample packages but you're going to sound unoriginal if you use them. Try finding your own, or at least process the ones you use.
Please tell me i read this somewhere else. Why is it bad using VSTi's? They're just sound better but take more CPU so you need a good soundcard. Or is there something else?
nice track man! i used modplug for about 7 years, then my computer crashed and i lost everything, stopped making anything for about 3-4 years... just got renoise a little while ago and am working on my first track in a long time, thanks for the inspiration, this program is taking a little while to get used to
maybe there's something i dont understand, but duz renoise utilize sampled beats which are provided with the software which are then altered by the user or is the user producing the beats and sampling them thereafter. i just want to know cuz it seems like the beats aren't ure own. not crticizing the music, i thot it was excellent.
Renoise, like all trackers let's you choose your own samples, most of the samples in this track are my own, except the amen break, but that one I have also altered quite a lot, so as to make it sound better. And yes, the samples are then altered using pattern commands, retriggers and many other things.
wanna say - i know theres a lot of breakcore out there, but this is good. it really captures the old school jungle sound i think. especially like the gated pad effect.
it's actually not just a amen, i've put several sounds on top of it, there are like 4 tracks which aren't visible. there are stereo effects that can't be heard on youtube in the actual song.
Try funky drummer instead... it's a much punchier break. The amen's notoriously difficult to master so it sounds big... most people actually layer it with other drum hits ;)
well, i'd say you actually can do it in fl-studio, logic, cubase or whatever (Not in Reason). But Renoise makes it less time-consuming to do these type of edits.
I'm still learning and playing around with sample offset. The only thing that really confuses me in renoise is how to decide on how many lines, what speed and bpm...
I can't figure out Renoise for the life of me...sick stuff man. Nice glitchy Amen choppage for sure and Renoise has some pretty dope timestretching algorithms... 5/5
I made a lot of them myself, using synth plugins, then resampled and messed around w. them in audio-editors. All the breaks i cut up by hand to get them really tight. A lot of the samples are from tim exile's sample packs check timexile . com or summin and also some of the breaks are from the desimal sample pack: grahammarch . com
uploader of vid, download camtasia software somewhere on the net, run it in the background while playing your renoise tracks. Perfect for capturing the video & audio.
i give up.

I mean, with FL it's practically impossible to make beats this complex and in Renoise it's nothing.
