He has a good idea about what he's talking about and some valid points, but he's an awful speaker. Would be much more interesting if he could organize his thoughts and also explain how things are connected and how giving women more rights would affect the traditional family formation of a democratic government. I read an article on CNN today titled "Men need to man up" explaining women's rising % in the workforce/education and men's decline. Women have been liberated in the workforce for only 60 years. Before this, they were strictly homemakers. It's a new age of Women's Independence and social structure for old, dying, conventional ways. Women are more aggressive, ambitious, and liberated then ever. The sad thing is State Domestic Abuse Laws can be quite 1 sided, favoring the woman's side...

But at the same time, I don't blame people for not doing any of that, for taking the "easy route" by simply turning on the TV. This reminds me of my eight years in catholic school. The first school was St. Ritas in Parkrose Oregon (Portland). There we called the nuns "mother". The other school was St. Stephens, also in Portland Oregon. There we called the teachers "sister". And of course the priests were always called father. I don't think this affected my relationship with my family, which was a good one.But I wonder what it did to others?

regardless of what these ppl's reasons are that doesn't take away the fact that it is wrong to suppress women's rights. women are human beings and deserve to be equal. the root of the problem in the family is that we need more egalitarian families. today women work but the fathers still expect her to do all the parenting rather than splitting up the responsibilities up equally based on availability and ability. thats the problem.

Forgive me. I don't know very much about Muslim values, but I have heard that stoning to death is the penalty for married men and women who commit adultery.

Is this true for all Muslims? And if so, how would it be possible to practice Muslim values in this country, when the American judicial system does not allow it? Thank you too. Your thoughts are appreciated.
