agreed I played a pretty tough gary player design course today. I had a tee time of 10 45 and got to the course at 10. I got on the range hit 2 balls and heard my group being called to the tee. I striped my first drive of the day. Hit a beautiful approach that took a bad bounce off the far side of the green. Then chipped in for birdie. I proceeded to then shoot 12 over. I'm usually about 6 over so the first whole doesnt tell you anything.

easy tip 2 hav a gud round. just have par or better on the first. just dont make a bogie. thats the hole that sets the mood for the round. just try and string together some pars. birdies will come eventually. u just have 2 be patient. so just play the holes according to your ability,ur aloud to be aggressive, just dont be stupid. alot of ppl dont see the difference.
i know alot of u will say 'bit easier said than done buddy' but i say this only to those who have the ability to do so.
shut up u obviosly havent a clue.. im playing three years and already off scratch...... because ive the right attitude..... and the first shot... can be the decider of yur round if yu want it to be...
thankfully i dont think like that.... or my good rounds would probably be halved in number.
today.. hit a terrible 1st tee shot.. and finished 1 over par... so dont listen to their crap.
then yur 1st tee shot.... be agressive... like every other shot yull be hitting that day
shawlerstyle u r completly right. i am also scratch and all my best rounds come from a great back 9. i have never shot a great round because of a good front 9. once i was level to the turn on an easy course then 5 under back 9. i think every shot is just as important whether it is the first or last of the day. Also what is big jaw talking about, what happens if the first hole is 450 yards straigth into a gale and with gorse down either side then a bogey would be a nice start.
guys when you tee off, are you supposed to swing the club or a controlled hit? I'm a beginner and bought my first set of clubs and got membership just today,, and my first tee off kinda......well stank....so i'm looking for tips.
Your first shot is always the confidence shot, the more you play the more you'll realize that.
You gotta find a shot that you can do really well, even if its with a long iron or a 1/2 swing 3 wood or whatever. Once you find that shot use it for the first tee shot all the time until you get more confident in your other shots.
Practice on the range on the course too, I've found that 4 trips to a driving range for every 18 hole round is the best for me, find your own rhythm and work off that.

Isn't it awesome to see Tiger in the flesh, I've only every seen him once in person, Two years ago @ the Open, I was fortunate to get next to the tee, first roaw of crowds and he was hitting a stinger, It was epic !!
were ws that at mate was it at the open 2006 hoylake, i was there he hit the stinger was jsut truly amazing atmosphere, fotrunate to get my TW hat signed by him aswell!
yeah i was sitting in the stand on the 1st tee on the friday morning at hoylake. i sat there for quite a while to see him. funny thing was that out of the 20 or so golfers i saw hit their 1st tee shots the best was by David Duval, absolutely knutted the shit out of his driver.
Thats funny you think Im Asian. Your not the smartest girl on the block using your first and last name as your screen name. Get off the computer and get a fucking life "WILL"! O by the way if you don't like Tiger thats to bad because he is the shit and will always be the shit "Will" so get over it "Will"!

Well for those of you that think your first swing of the day or hole will dictate your round, then obviously you guys don't have a clue.
