my uncle philburn thought it was great that more minorities were being placed into jeopardy in the movies...in 1959, only whites were being terrorized like this
Can't say I saw the movie back then, I was probably watching something on ABC most likely. Besides Diff'rent Strokes and Facts of Life, NBC really sucked back then. But I do remember the 79/80 NBC movie promo. It was very good.
I've noticed something here,if anybody else has picked up on this, the voice of Timothy Bottoms is dubbed here, just for this opening preview, not the movie itself, listen very carefully at 0:40 sec. "you will only hear this once" and at 0:52 sec. "Harry, you know what happens when you don't follow directions"-it's not Bottoms voice,no way is it.apparently, someone though his voice was too weak or not tough sounding enough,so they dubbed it,but his regular voice is heard through out the movie!
I used to watch this & Airport '77 over and over as a little kid on cable (HBO). When it disappeared from cable and saw it was being broadcast over regular TV, I had to watch it again. Hey, before VCR's you never knew when you would see your favorite movie again! -
As soon as I picked up a DVD player years later, Rollercoaster was one of my first purchases!
@crypticreign Blockbuster. The company has Direct Access where they can mail you a movie for $3.99 and you have it for a week. I know cause I work for the compnay.
The V/O here was Howard Reig - apparently after 1978-79, New York announcers were doing the opening bumpers, though the Burbank announcing staff (Don Stanley, Donald Rickles, Peggy Taylor and [possibly] Victor Bozeman) continued to do ad and closing bumpers.
This is the greatest movie ever- the letterboxed laserdisc was one of the first LDs I ever bought. I've got the old DiscoVision one too but haven't had time to watch it to see how bad it looks.
Timothy Bottoms is one cute terrorist!
