Yes under a microscope a person of Asian descent hair-strand is completely round, like a straw, whereas someone from African descent hair-strand is flat like a piece of ribbon. This makes the the difference in textures.

Im asian as well and my mom knoes how to do cornrows but she uses this thing called beez waz? idk lol she uses that instead of gel. Asian and white people have the same hair...lol wats the difference :)

@jerkin320 Actually, people of Asian and European descent don't have the same kind of hair. Typically, the hair of a person descended from Asians has twice the diameter and a much thicker cuticle than any other person's (from a non-Asian group) hair. Most hair types have around five layers of cuticles while Asian hair has closer to ten. There are a lot of other differences but there are too many to list.

Asian hair is mostly very very straight and thick (the individual hair is very thick). If you would cut through asian hair and look at it under a miscroscope you would see it is perfectly round (round = straight), curly or kinky hair is more or less rectangular shaped.

Then burn edges (synthetic hair) with a lighter, so as 2 prevent unraveling. Shane's an idiot with no real insight about Afro Hair styles, plus culture. i have to say i dont like when i see extension cornrows on someone and the root is big. to me thats ugly. i like when they add very little piece in the beginning and then keep making the braid thicker as they braid along. thin at the roots looks better.just my opinion.

Well it has to be long enough to get a good grip on it, but that depends on how good your hairstylist is. The short your hair, the harder it'll be, so if you're working with and inch, or half and inch, it is doable, and some might even be able to grab on centimeter length.
