well a 54 strat would be the best investment wise, you shouldnt really paly one lol, les pauls are very practical you can paly any style of music and a gilmour strat would be equally as good but would probbly struggle with something like metal =]

depends on wich sound you prefer. Les Paul and Explorer are two way different guitars, so you might just think about what you want the most. Both of em really great guitars, but I prefer the Les Paul...

I don't really agree about the vibrato. It's just his playing, and I think he don't just want to copy the solo, but wants to play it with his own style. And I like that.

It's better to just buy a Les Paul Studio.. it's only about $1679 or something.. and it's exactly like a standard.. same pickups and is just a bit cheaper. Don't buy used guitars unless you have picked it up before you buy it

the studio is a standard without the make-up. Thought they DON'T have the same humbuckers. Standard has burstbuckers studio has 490r and 498t humbuckers. Both sound great, tought the burst buckers sound more bassy then the studio's

490r and 498t have ceramic magnets, so they have more output and they have more treble. And the burstbuckers have alnico (2?) magnets so they sound more vintage: less output and warmer.

Well it's a fact. I have never been a fan of tabs, because for me it's just a waste of time. Instead, I tear the song apart, piece by piece, and practice on the small parts until I'm satisfied. Then I put together the whole song. Makes it easy and efficient.
