They are just being stubborn that's all, but after Dual Blade chooses Maxim they basicallly know it's over I have a feeling..at least Erim knows. I think Daos does as well, he asks "Why do you challange me?" and explains everything..doesn't sound confident to me at the end heh. Or Amon's "So you defeated Gades eh? (silent GULP)".
And Gades is retarded if he doesn't know that he's gonna get his gimpy ass kicked for the 4th time lol.
Although the Sinistrals are stronger here then in Lufia 2, if you cast mirror, with exception of Gades, they won't be able to hurt you because they only use magic.
There's no way the Sinistrals in Lufia I are stronger than Lufia 2, the fights are much longer but maybe it's just cuz Dual Blade in Lufia II is so fucking overpowered!
Least this one does have Guard Daos though...fight Daos as the final opponent in Lufia II was just disappointing, even Erim had more Magic Resistance!
Yah that's true I guess, I still think it's cuz Dual Blade is way overpowered in Lufia 2 though, same with dragon eggs which aren't THAT hard to get. Those are game breaking items. But were just comparing Sinistrals I would say Lufia originals can hit pretty hard where Gades hits like school girl on final battle but Erim and Daos do some serious damage with Dark Fry and Erim has wiped out half my party with her damn wave..yah she's harder too IMO.
That's why I believe they should have made Erim in human form the final battle in both games instead of just making that an energy wave fight..they can do that afterward.
But I guess that wouldn't make much sense either cuz then she would have to be more powerful in human form (Iris/Lufia) than in her Goddess of Death Sinistral form which wouldn't make any sense storyline wise at all....oh well, best they could have done without breaking the storyline I suppose.
Yeah, since Lufai II was a prequel, they decided to keep the ending for the most part the same as the prologue in the first game. There's some differences, though the only major one is Daos talking about Arek, and there's the thing added in at the end. It game did still contradict some the opening in the first game somewhat, though. The text we see at the start of the first is sorta of saying the Sinistrals succeeded in taking over the world before being defeated.
Yah no offense but Lufia III for the GBA had a stupid storyline for being a prequal to both Lufia's but at least he still had to do with fricken Lufia unlike Lufia IV!
Yah there is slight contradictions and slight changes, don't forget in Lufia you fight the sinistrals individually in different places and the battle with Erim is extremely akward for her while in Lufia is just basic enemy blabble with no history behind it.
But that kinda makes sense to me, very sensible changes just wish they woulda finished the Arek/Erim thing.
Fighting them in different places at the end were the minor changes, along with changes in dialogue. Erim was pretty weird, since as an enemy she just appears to try and kill you, and that's after you find out that she's the one that had been saving you throughout the game.
Agreed, minor changes. Gotta remember I don't think they didn't plan on making a prequel instantly after making the original so they did a damn fine job considering.
The things Erim says is kinda weird but it's a coverup. It's not like she was gonna say 'Omgz HI Maxim it's me Iris but I'm Erim! I won't fight you..proceed to Daos!' Daos would be like Wtf?! He can hear everything up there so she had to act like a bitch and most importantly that would break the prologue in Lufia I.
Plus Erim knew she was gonna lose cuz she was the one that helped the Sinistrals lose really. So her intent wasn't to kill, just to battle. If she wanted to kill you she woulda wiped you out with her energy waves. If Daos wanted to kill you he woulda dropped those plates down before teleporting to the top of his shrine.
They wanted to challange you to see who should rightfully rule the world. AT THE END Daos wanted to kill you and the world though, then Maxim's descendant. Erim saved Jaros.
Well don't forget the Sinistrals tend to be very overconfident. Erim said she was supposed to watch Maxim, but it seems like she ends to taking a liking to him and starts to develop some morals. What did you mean about Daos not dropping those plates? My take with him not killing when he gets the chance is that he was waiting for you to brake the seals on the towers, outside of that it's just that he's an egomaniac and underestimates you.
Overall yes, not so much Erim though - much like Arek she questions the Sinistrals rule over humans..it's why she went on her mission.
The part with the plates? I mean ground plating when you go to the warp. The part where Daos says "You may cross" and Selan says "It could be a trap!". Well he COULD have killed them there if he wanted to but wanted to challange them face to face.
Your right though the storyline they underestimate them till Dual Blade chooses Maxim then they basically know.
Something I just found. In LR, the one that actually says the Sinistrals can only truly be killed with the Dual Blade is Daos. Since you getting it awakens Erim in Seena, and shortly afterwords Gades, Amon, and Daos revive, it sounds like he tricked you in the game.
Awesome, he gets smarter by the sequels..that is II to I to III. He's a pretty epic failure in II lol. Tries to get Dual Blade on his side and fails, tries to get all the divine armaments and fails, tries to destroy the world with the other Sinistrals and fails, tries to drop Doom Island on Parcalyte and oooo...FAILS.
Amon also gets into the whole chaos thing. As opposed to just causing random destruction like he did in the first two games, he instead sows distrust among people and causes wars.
Nice..I was about to say I mean he did do alot in Lufia II, moreso than Daos himself but there certainly wasn't anything 'chaotic' about slaughtering an entire town or causing Artea's wife to die or trying to shoot you down from Doom Island =/
I mean I would give Lufia III its dues for it's storyline but uggh the fact that it was made on a 'non-system' like Game Boy cuz of the buyout...advanced or not is what turns me away from it.
yaeh man i lost one time fighting that thing and then i came back and kicked it's ass

It would be cooler if Guard Daos had the attacks of all three Sinistrals, as opposed to just to use Flood and Figment.

They do have less health in this game, less then some of the earlier bosses. But they still do hit hard.
Yeah, just about every walkthrough and boss faq I read about Lufia 2 said that Daos was a disappointing final boss. Some people found Erim harder.

The same thing happens in Lufia III, except that says the Sinistrals first appeared before Maxim was even born.
