Ana Popovic was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia. She is also very talented painter, but she decided that making good music should be her professional choice . . . so there you go.
13 May 1976 - Ana Popovic is born in the old town of Belgrade, formerly Yugoslavia, the first daughter of Milutin and Vesna Popovic. Five years later their second daughter, Maja, is born. Ana grows up in a warm and loving family where music is very important. Her father Milutin is a creditable guitar / bass player, always inviting friends for nightly jam sessions.
I saw her for the first time @ the Annapolis Blues Fest. in May...I'm a fan for life!!!! That girl's got the whole package...plus that she's a sweetie. You talk about talent!!! Come to NYC, Ana!!!!
Yeah, this is good stuff from a few vantage points: one, she can really play; two, unlike a lot of female players, she plays with some gumption while a lot of chick guitarists tend to sound kind of passive; three, she has stage presence and employs it effectively.
If I were in a big headlining band, I would definitely think about having her open for me.
The effective song title is : "How 'd you learn to shake it like that" and is on her last cd "Still Making History", available in Europe from 1st Sept. 2007. I saw her for the third time this week, and she's really awesome. Don't miss the opportunity if you can see her on stage.
So, Laura, I'm a blues fanatic! I like a lot of blues stuff... but I can mention some names like SRV, Kenny Wayne Shepperd, Joe Bonamassa, Johnny Lang. As you can see, many of these guitar players are formed in the "Hendrix-AlbertKing-SRV school of blues"... Check out my videos, I play guitar in that band called Woolloongabbas...
