Otherwise he would have been left with absolutely nothing. You can't return and be a Jedi if there were no Jedi to return to. And it was a convincing turn; he was trying to save someone he loved, and his unborn children. It's not like he knew that what he was doing would eventually turn out to be the thing that killed her.

Anakin never displayed the ability to repel lightning and he was almost all machine. He would've been killed.

I'm inclined to believe that Christensen actually nailed Darth Vader . Think about it: how many evil people in history must have acted like whiny little kids? There is no real "epicness" to the kind of darkness that Vader possesses - it's petty and even embarrassing for him. He doesn't often realize this because he's so consumed by his selfish desires, and his obsession manifests (for good reasons) as immaturity. In the end, he gets what he wants... and it destroys the people he loves the most.

Hayden is not a bad actor. He's simple, natural and he did almost every cascade scenes.
I think some people don't take him seriously because his good looking even VERY good looking, And except star wars, the movies he's acted in are mostly bad movies, he deserves better.
Hayden is not a playboy like Zac Efron , Taylor Lautner or Pattinson, his more natural than those superficial suckers.
@MissSamira59 Hayden's performance in these movies always leaves me puzzled... and I think I know why. See, he nailed the visuals perfectly in every scene. He was right on the money. Every gesture, every facial expression... perfect. But then he speaks... and it's just too monotone. He shows so much passion and emotion but he just doesn't deliver it through his voice. That's the feeling I get from watching his performance in Ep2 and Ep3, at least.

I thought about it and i really didn't like heyden's acting, he came across as nothing less then a child, he didn't feel right at all, he looks more like he was scripted to make the girls blush and that was the motivational part behind it and i have nothing against guys who are good looking on screen i couldn't care less but it seems that took more importance then good acting, the character of Anakin played by this actor wasn't very interesting and had little personality unlike Mark Hamill.
I think he played the part amazingly and its a shame we haven't seen more from him. It's like actors who have their first big part in a star wars film never get other big parts after.

Hayden worked so hard on his character that not only do the Jedi hate him, but even humans from Earth hate him. That's how realistic Hayden made it seem. He's very good ;)
I think that he did the very best he could have, with what Lucas had given him. I think he definitely deserved to be in the darth vader suit to end Episode III but I hate that in the remastered version of Return of the Jedi , Lucas put in Hayden at the end.

I think Hayden played the part perfectly. It's just George Lucas who came up with a story that had plot holes and a script that just had bad dialogue but people can't see or acknowledge that so blame Hayden's acting.
All of the actors were great, but like some one else pointed out...even actors like Natalie, Ewan had some poor dialogue given to them at times...making them look bad.

I absolutely love Hayden in this movie. I don't see why so many people badmouth his performance. I can't think of any other actor who could've made the transition from good to evil so natural and real like he did. Like Samuel Jackson said, he just gets that look…something just goes on with his face and it's there that you can tell he was perfect for this role. Definitely has that presence of darkness needed to portray Anakin.

hayden was really good in episode 3, esp the part when he goes to the dark side. the transition was just really natural, instead of being awkward. the depiction of anakin going to the dark side was really more like someone going completely insane and that was the best part of it
I think Hayden is a better actor than people give him credit for, but like he said, he was held back from taking the character where he wanted to for a long time, until the end of Revenge of the Sith, really. But when Lucas let him he really gave a powerful performance. It was as much a guy turning to the dark side as it was a guy descending into paranoid, schizophrenic madness. Which was an interesting take on the character.

I love Hayden Christensen. The was absolutely 100% pefect for the role of Anakin Skywalker. The passion and the anger in his eyes was so real. I've never seen an actor get so into his role like Hayden did with Anakin. He became Anakin, and it definately showed on screen.
I think that being an actor isnt about sword fighting ability but about acting and showing real emotions on a screen.Hayden's change to dark side was so fake and stiff that it destroyed whole film for me. Heth Ledger would be a great Anakin but unfortunately Lucas with age loses his directing skills.
I got goosebumps when I saw them slip the helmet over his head. That's crazy. I bet it was a very surreal moment for him. He isn't my favorite actor in the Star Wars movies (Ewan is) nor is his character my favorite, but I think that he did an amazing job.

Hayden is not a bad actor. He's simple, natural and he did almost every cascade scenes.
I think some people don't take him seriously because his good looking even VERY good looking, And except star wars, the movies he's acted in are mostly bad movies, he deserves better.
Hayden is not a playboy like Zac Efron , Taylor Lautner or Pattinson, his more natural than those superficial suckers.

@MissSamira59 Hayden's performance in these movies always leaves me puzzled... and I think I know why. See, he nailed the visuals perfectly in every scene. He was right on the money. Every gesture, every facial expression... perfect. But then he speaks... and it's just too monotone. He shows so much passion and emotion but he just doesn't deliver it through his voice. That's the feeling I get from watching his performance in Ep2 and Ep3, at least.

@hurricanesofhell well for one, it was really really boring. the only part i remember when it contradicted itself was ep2 where padme fell of that clone ship and she said we need to get to that hanger, but no one knew that there was a hanger in the first place...

I thought about it and i really didn't like heyden's acting, he came across as nothing less then a child, he didn't feel right at all, he looks more like he was scripted to make the girls blush and that was the motivational part behind it and i have nothing against guys who are good looking on screen i couldn't care less but it seems that took more importance then good acting, the character of Anakin played by this actor wasn't very interesting and had little personality unlike Mark Hamill.

is it wrong to love him even when he went all darkside. Love the torpiaz eyes though, amazin. I was never really a great fan of stars wars really before but after watchin the revenge of the sith. I went mental and ofcourse he was my fav actor, so I went into a new epic level of geekish-ness. and bought all stars wars movie. gotta say, i'm impressed, so wonder who will get me outa of it. didnt work on start treck, wont work on this

My siblings are still surprised at how fanatic I became after ep.2 and 3 haha. AND no its not wrong to love him! Hayden worked so hard on his character that not only do the Jedi hate him, but even humans from Earth hate him. That's how realistic Hayden made it seem. He's very good ;)

I think that he did the very best he could have, with what Lucas had given him. I think he definitely deserved to be in the darth vader suit to end Episode III but I hate that in the remastered version of Return of the Jedi , Lucas put in Hayden at the end.

I think Hayden played the part perfectly. It's just George Lucas who came up with a story that had plot holes and a script that just had bad dialogue but people can't see or acknowledge that so blame Hayden's acting.
All of the actors were great, but like some one else pointed out...even actors like Natalie, Ewan had some poor dialogue given to them at times...making them look bad.

I absolutely love Hayden in this movie. I don't see why so many people badmouth his performance. I can't think of any other actor who could've made the transition from good to evil so natural and real like he did. Like Samuel Jackson said, he just gets that look…something just goes on with his face and it's there that you can tell he was perfect for this role. Definitely has that presence of darkness needed to portray Anakin.

hayden was really good in episode 3, esp the part when he goes to the dark side. the transition was just really natural, instead of being awkward. the depiction of anakin going to the dark side was really more like someone going completely insane and that was the best part of it

I think Hayden is a better actor than people give him credit for, but like he said, he was held back from taking the character where he wanted to for a long time, until the end of Revenge of the Sith, really. But when Lucas let him he really gave a powerful performance. It was as much a guy turning to the dark side as it was a guy descending into paranoid, schizophrenic madness. Which was an interesting take on the character.

in my opinion, Lukas needs to create 2 more movies that will show the start of the whole galaxy referring to the Old Republic, showing Yoda in act and Count Doukou becoming a Sith, the Mandalorian Wars and everything before the Phantom Menace.

I hate it when people have a go about his acting. George Lucas chose him for that part because he obviously thought he was right for the part and if you have a go about Hayden's acting skills then in a way you're having a go at George Lucas for his decision. I think he really portrays the part of Anakin and Darth Vader really well.

I love Hayden Christensen. The was absolutely 100% pefect for the role of Anakin Skywalker. The passion and the anger in his eyes was so real. I've never seen an actor get so into his role like Hayden did with Anakin. He became Anakin, and it definately showed on screen.

I think that being an actor isnt about sword fighting ability but about acting and showing real emotions on a screen.Hayden's change to dark side was so fake and stiff that it destroyed whole film for me. Heth Ledger would be a great Anakin but unfortunately Lucas with age loses his directing skills.

I got goosebumps when I saw them slip the helmet over his head. That's crazy. I bet it was a very surreal moment for him. He isn't my favorite actor in the Star Wars movies (Ewan is) nor is his character my favorite, but I think that he did an amazing job.
