I tested out one of these that I got for free yesterday. It gave me a good shave but I was unable to shave the mustache right underneath my nose due to the frame extending so far from the blades. If you don't have a nose, then you might like it. I'm sticking with Gilette Good News - not "Good News Plus", not "Good News Pivot" - just plain old "Good News". SInce 1974, nobody has made any significant improvements in shaving that actually improved the shaving experience.

can someone tell me if the gel from schick hydro 5 automactically release its gel? orwe have to do something? and is the gel comes with it right away? or we must buy seperately to install it?

although i find the trimmer useless... i have been using the same blade thing or cartridge whatever its called since july 1st. i shave 2 - 3 times a week.

simply amazing worth every penny best bang for your buck..i have like 10 cartidges in storage i got them all through offers and promos. not sure why people have to think twice about testing one out they are like 5 bucks at most walmarts in canada and im sure in the states they are like 3 bucks. abitaman great reviews all around keep it up

I like shaving gear my self. have you seen the updated Safety Razors. I personally use an Edwin Jagger 89L Silver Tip Badger Brush 7 O'clock yellow blades and various European shave creams. I got tired of paying 20 Bucks for cartridges. double edge blades are only 30 cents and far better in my opinion.

Soap dries my skin out is all, younger teenagers just have more tempermental skin i suppose(such as myself). Soap probably works fine for when your skin is more stable when you're a full on adult.

This is by far the best razor I have ever used. It has done what no other razor ever has to my face, what I have been looking for: it made my face feel completely hairless! I formerly thought this was impossible! And it is the first "trimmer" on a blade razor worth it's salt!

i ALWAYS shave against the hairs for example if the facial hair is running down i shave going up..very very very close shave.

I've been using this since it came out and to me It's the best razor ever, the best smoothest shave and oh so close. also, this is the first time a razor's blades don't really get dull, i mean i used the first blade for some 30 shaves and it was still pretty damned smooth and yes the gel is really really food and the gel in the tip last's 3x longer than gillets proflide. 5 stars out of 5 IMO.

@jtmoney091 yes, the only thing is the protective gel that's above the blade that lubricates is gone, but that's where shave gel kicks in. yeah, i'm only on my second blade and it's really awsome in my book. one thing i'd like to see is them ad a vibration razor, that would be nice.

I use the hydro 5 as well as the hydro gel. I have found both to be superior to anything Gillete has come out with. I will disagree with you on the gel, people with sensitive skin or dry skin should find the gel to work quite nicely and leave their skin hydrated and refreshed. If you shave with a first pass with the grain and a second pass against the grain, you will get an ultra close shave.

the gel is amazing and the 5 blades with gaurds feel soooo good and give you a real good shave

the "trimmer" could be better but its not a bad feature

@jjason55740 no the gillete fusion, the normal one, not the fusion power or powerglide because i have not used those, but the normal gillete fusion IS MUCH better than the hydro 5! you get a much cleaner and deeper shave, with the hydro 5, i had to go over it many times. also, the with the hydro 5, i just shaved 3 days ago and m hair is already growing back, with the gillette, i was good for a 1 1/2 - 2 weeks....my stupid brother took my fusion so i bought the hydro 5 and i'm very dissapointed

@VanMedia The hydro 5 is much better for me at least. I got about 7-10 shaves out of a fusion, and I get about 20 shaves out of a hydro 5, and it seems smoother and closer. I mean face+head shaves.
