PART I - Let me just clarify a few points. The man who drives the interview is a former humorist from Montreal, well known for his sarcasm. He may sound offensive to you but he his not at all (not in this interview though). The highly rated TV program "Tout le monde en parle" basically covers the weekly events that make the news.
PART II - Rick Astley was most probably asked to go there by the promoter of the show that was planned a few weeks later.
The TV show concept has been borrowed from France. Up there, it was a live show often lasting 2-3 hours. In Quebec it's a pre-recorded show in which most of the interviews are heavily edited to fit the 2h15 min program duration.
PART III - They sometimes strip out some interesting moments to make room for other guests. This particular interview shown on TV lasted at least 15 minutes, once edited. Time will tell. If Rick's visit at the show was unpleasant, one day he will probably let everyone know. so far, I haven't heard any complains...Finally, you have to know that Montreal has always been a music hub for Disco and Dance music.
I don't speak french. But the guy who leads the convesation is kind of weird. The questions he has to ask are more offensive than friendly. Rick manages to stay in his comfort zone....but why do you invite someone in a show? To replay his life in 2 minutes and ask weird questions? So when will he come and sing for us live w.o. the rickroll phenomenon??? As a European dare to say, that euroMTV was very rude with the best act ever thing and the canadians souldn't bring it up. So uncomfortable.

I am convinced that Rick Astley was given all the respect he deserves during his presence in Quebec.
