@ProtectTheDamned actually no emperors of japan kowtowed to any chinese emperors because throughout the 1800 years they never actually met until the 20th century. when puyi the famous last emperor of the qing dynasty met emperor hirohito in tokyo. in that case puyi already abdicated from the chinese throne and became head of the japanese puppet state of manchukuo. so actually emperor puyi had to bow to emperor hirohito. although there was no actual kowtowing.
