Capital One Rant - Interest Rate Raised 8% for NO reason

I had an interest rate of 7.95, I was with them for about 8 years & was an outstanding customer. One day for no reason they raised my rate 10%. I called & was so mad....the maneger promised me if I opted out & closed it; itd go to 7.95 untill it was paid....(at that point I was not using any cards just paying off 1 at a time) yeah they still raised it....why are they messing with a closed card??? Capital One is the worst company ever! UGH!!! I cant wait to get them PAID OFF!!!!!

@keu143146 I heard that last year, across the board, they raised interest rates hoping people would cancel. I'm not sure how true that is. I am going to keep this one open (just in case) after I pay it off for a final time. I had to use it the last few months sadly :(

However, I plan on building up my credit, getting a credit card at a credit union (by law they cannot charge more than 18%) and just using that IF I ever need it.

I had Capital One. My solution was to close the account. They jacked me pretty good also.

I was going to but figured, I might as well pay if off and keep it ONLY for emergencies.

I've heard rumors that Capital One is trying to get rid of customers. That is a good way lol

cap one are assholes anyway u slice it, i once had to threaten them to stop sending me card offers after i turned 18, seriously i would get 2 offers a week from them.. think of how many trees that killed!

and as u know i dont like having to be mean and threatening

so other than not using them anymore what else are u gonna do? mail them bags of self igniting dog poo? Im sure lex and rock would be more than happy to volunteer some "supplies" for that cause ;-)
