Yeah, this is a 'blade off' test. The casing should contain all debris for it to pass. The entire engine is written off in the process and no parts are re-used.
This test is to find out if the engine cowling can hold all debris, usually a fan blade, compressor blade or turbine blade. The ornage fan blade has a small amount of explosive on it so the blade will fall off. Engine needs to power off and hold contain all debris. For a bird strike test the engine should still obtain the required thrust other wise it FAILS the test
Sorry that is NOT A BIRD TEST. If you look youll see a bright orange fan blade, that is filled with several grams of high explosives thats a critical failure test to make sure the cowling can take the impact of a engine blowing up. Its roughly 10 layers of carbon fiber rolled up around a steel mendral,
Holy crap! That must be frightening to watch live. Even if you are in a bunker room. You just don't quite get how big that thing is and how much it is moving in the video.
@Orkowar Bingo. The standard for passing is the same as the bird ingestion test, though. The engine is expected to destroy itself, it just has to contain the explosion and fire and not allow important wing structures to be destroyed before it shuts down.
Thats a blade detachment test, used for insuring the blade and other parts that detach are pushed out and away so it does not cause damage to plane.

thats not a bird strike test. its the "blade off" test, where they seperate the fanblade (which is colored)
if a bird (or even some more) strike the engine the effect would NOT be that severe!
