It's neither one. It's employment as a field hand, a picker. It pays at least minwage and often more because farmers will pay by the pound or bucket to get the crop in faster. Low wage labor is not necessarily exploitation. The minister complains about the long days, but it's seasonal work, and that's how farm labor is. The tomato farmers in Tampa don't go home because it's 5PM, you go home when it's dark.

Slavery means you are forced to work with out pay. Its better to have that than no job. Lots of hard working people aren't able to even get these jobs because as they have admitted they are illegals. If they were white it wouldn't be an issue. If they pay them more then the farmer has to charge more. Raising the cost of healthy food even more. It is better than going back and having no money and starving. No one is forcing them to stay and work.

Plus, they're doing the same work day to day repeatedly, so I'm sure to some extent a lot of them have gotten used to this. It's not perfect, but it's perhaps the best they can do at the moment. I doubt they'll be there still doing this 5 or 10 years down the road.
Other than having to work in the hot sun for long hours, I don't see how what they're doing is so bad. Anyone could pick some plant and gather bunches of it in due time. Would they rather be working in a much less safe manufacturing plant, esp. in the 1900s? This is actually a rather safe work environment and not all that difficult overall. Besides, I think in due time they'll be able to hopefully save up enough money and move up the socioeconomic ladder, esp. if they become U.S. citizens.

Well, I'm not saying it's all flowers and paradise for these folks, but unfortunately, they are low-skill employees. This is probably one of the few jobs they could find in the U.S. and get hired for, probably. I don't recall this video establishing any proven racial motivation for the lower pay of the workers; lower skills equal lower pay. Picking cotton or plants or whatever isn't very difficult; just takes a while to get a lot.

It's neither one. It's employment as a field hand, a picker. It pays at least minwage and often more because farmers will pay by the pound or bucket to get the crop in faster. Low wage labor is not necessarily exploitation. The minister complains about the long days, but it's seasonal work, and that's how farm labor is. The tomato farmers in Tampa don't go home because it's 5PM, you go home when it's dark.

Slavery means you are forced to work with out pay. Its better to have that than no job. Lots of hard working people aren't able to even get these jobs because as they have admitted they are illegals. If they were white it wouldn't be an issue. If they pay them more then the farmer has to charge more. Raising the cost of healthy food even more. The main complaint I (and others) have with this video is that it tries to cast illegals as being "slaves", as if they had no choice in their fate, when they are as free as they wish to be in their home country.

In a system like this the rich are in control but what the rich claim for themselves is being stolen In America where there is this much poverty despair and violence" freedom" is just rhetoric. Still, though, you have talked about getting rid of poverty and wealth. Are you advocating just steering away from pure capitalism, somewhat, or are you advocating actually taking steps to level the field somewhat? If the latter, how?

Plus, they're doing the same work day to day repeatedly, so I'm sure to some extent a lot of them have gotten used to this. It's not perfect, but it's perhaps the best they can do at the moment. I doubt they'll be there still doing this 5 or 10 years down the road.

Other than having to work in the hot sun for long hours, I don't see how what they're doing is so bad. Anyone could pick some plant and gather bunches of it in due time. Would they rather be working in a much less safe manufacturing plant, esp. in the 1900s? This is actually a rather safe work environment and not all that difficult overall. Besides, I think in due time they'll be able to hopefully save up enough money and move up the socioeconomic ladder, esp. if they become U.S. citizens.

Well, I'm not saying it's all flowers and paradise for these folks, but unfortunately, they are low-skill employees. This is probably one of the few jobs they could find in the U.S. and get hired for, probably. I don't recall this video establishing any proven racial motivation for the lower pay of the workers; lower skills equal lower pay. Picking cotton or plants or whatever isn't very difficult; just takes a while to get a lot.

I can't speak for Mark Fuhrman, but I'm sure there were plenty of white folks there who just saw a murderer who happened to be black. And even if some of them did have a tendency to see black criminals as worse than whites, OJ WAS wealthy, so that would seem to counteract a view like that.

I can't believe that they are whining about their long hours and low pay when they have come here illegally. It's wrong that the employers are hiring illegal workers, but the planet is about the bottom line, so if they can find people that will take 3-4 dollars to work in the fields, of course they will hire them.
