  • I LOVED his book

  • Aww Howie, everyone has their imperfections and issues! Your not alone

  • "I didn't know I had a book in me" So what, you shat it out?

  • so fá de cara

  • i would take howie, tie him up to a chair, and for the course of several days poke him in the face with my penis.

  • @justanoldman1 He's a judge because not only is he a performer but an amazing producer. He has been coming up with the ideas for hit shows since he was in his 20's. Also, he is a performer too if you didn't know that.

  • @justanoldman1 Oh....and you do?

  • @justanoldman1 Really? Then why haven't I ever heard of you...yet Howie Mandel is insanely popular and nearly everyone knows his name?

  • @FalseDisposition There are a lot of stupid people out there I guess.

  • @justanoldman1 Like....you?

  • @FalseDisposition No the ones that like Howie!!!

  • i read this book because i love howie. and it was a really good book. i read it in two hours(:

  • If i Meet him ima poke the shit outa him xd

  • I love you!!!!!!! Thumbs up if u like edible food

  • I have OCD im a clean freak. I cant have anything dirty around my house

  • I wash shocked when i found out howie mandel had OCD, But it made me feel better about myself. I have OCD and am an extreme germaphobe but knowing that howie was able to do a career and function makes me feel a bit better about myself.

  • Calm down children!

  • @JakeShieldsMurder Shut up!

  • @JakeShieldsMurder Kewll!

  • @JakeShieldsMurder Its Not His Fault; He Cant Change What He Is!

  • @JakeShieldsMurder Fuck You! Leave him alone; if you dnt like him , dnt read about him OR dnt watch him!

  • ocd he has sad

  • he looks exactly like the lead singer from disturbed

  • There's nothing Howie can't do...except perhaps get along with Piers Morgan.

  • Inspiring. I'm willing to buy it. I also suffer from OCD, ADHD, Depression and other crap. Howie is a great rolemodle.

  • um.. im just wondering how he was able to have sex with his before then wife when he has ocd

  • I love Howie no matter how OCD he is... How would he have sex or get married ?

  • @TheJennyjenjen90 This was actually discussed within the book; he said that he's okay with contact with his family and all, but they have a really, really clean household.

  • @Ghostadventuresfan08 Sorry, just meant that many don't ask about the mental feeling of anxiety, they only ask about anxious feelings that are often only felt in the body.

  • Funny and at the same time painful, Howie provides an interesting insight into anxiety and ADHD - and where it can take some people. He has mastered the problem, he's riding the horse,- but so many find themselves alone and untreated as ADHD with the frequently associated thinking-anxiety is misidentified as only emotional anxiety and the ADHD side of it is completely missed.

  • when he says" Howard got it out of me" it was on The Howard Stern Show that his story first came out.

  • i think everybody knew before howie decided to talk about it.

  • Dear anyone who reads this, I am not only bipolar and have OCD, but a host of other Mental Halth issues. These are very serious things that we as hosts of the dissorders try to make light of yet suffer deeply because of. No my problems are not as bad as Howies but they manefest in horrible stretches of depression and I have been forced to live in a van to avoid many things you may take for granted. Read, Listen, Learn, Understand...please. Sometimes we just cant be helped.

  • I could probably read, wash, rinse, repeat and reread, wash, rinse, repeat this book many times. I have OCD and am germophobic.

  • Love you Howie. You are so real. Saw you last night on Piers Morgan, but use to

see you on the game show., Deal or no Deal.

You are the real deal, hugs,

  • great

  • LOL at 3:36

  • Oh Trust me, I KNOW. I don't wish it on anyone, it's hell.

It's just hard to think that such a funny guy can have that many problems. I knew about his germ phobia, just didn't know about all the other problems he has.

  • @tegrat1122

well cuz, ocd people are very closeted and shy about their issues :)

  • Oh wow!! I didn't know he has all that problems!

  • I read the book, and it wasn't exactly what I expected. I just automatically expect it to be hillarious, and in many ways it is, but it was also heartbreaking. It's sad to know what he goes through. He can make the whole world laugh and yet he hides so much behind a curtain of his real life.

I wish you all the best Howie, you're a great comedian and I don't think I could ever have enough of Howie :)

  • @tegrat1122 He's not the only one that goes through that. :P

  • I wanted to read the book....but it says "don't touch me" so, I didn't get it.

  • @Rbk428 *ba-dum-tssss*

  • I dunno I have OCD but Im not a germaphobe I have manymanymany other things I just don't care about germs . . .

  • I've just bought the book and OMG its amazing, funny and real. Well done to Howie for getting it out there x

  • @eakwak... I have OCD and would like to buy it on your recommendation.

  • If I ever meet him, I'm gonna hug him.

  • @TheSFGIANTSFAN Yeah, worst possible thing you can do to a guy with OCD.

  • @Hamhark98 exactly.

  • @Hamhark98 OCD is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

That has nothing to do with hugging.

The fact he's a germaphobe would make hugging him a bad idea.

  • @TheSFGIANTSFAN haha he'll probably have a heart attack from the shock

  • @TheSFGIANTSFAN if you try to hug him he will get so angry and he will have to go take a shower. did you know he makes his wife wash his money in the washing machine and then he gets it back in nice folded piles?! lol

  • @TheSFGIANTSFAN if you try to hug him he will get so angry and he will have to go take a shower. did you know he makes his wife wash his money in the washing machine and then he gets it back in nice folded piles?! lol

  • He is so funny. I have OCD, too.

  • I'm guessing Howie will never experience penis to vagina contact

  • @gearsdan he has 3 kids...i guess u didnt read the book! but seriously he talks about them in his stand up and on interviews and stuff.

  • @gearsdan Oh that's the area that is never affected among OCD's surprise, surprise!

  • If you observe closely, most white people who have OCD, are quite flexible about getting coodies from a young clean looking white person. But they literally throw up at the thought of catching a brownskinned person's coodies, which makes you wonder, if this is a disease, or a racist, xenophobic fear of nonwhite immigrants. I have had five friends with OCD: from different places, all white, middleclass, women young and old, and very biased towards other races. When racism is excused as OCD.

  • @Shilpusuresh

i dont think that behaviour is the same as clinical OCD. a lot of ppl throw around the term "OCD" tho and that's true for sure.

but like clinical OCD isnt about germs all the time, or hand washing. those are just stererotypes about the disease that have found their way into popular media and disseminated as the general perspective of the disorder.

  • @hunnybee84 Thank you for your comment. I understand what you are saying, but I do think that the way in which people think, how they perceive the world and people in it, has a lot to do with psychological problems that they are then clinically diagnosed with. It begins with the mind. I would like someone to research what percent of OCD sufferers are caucasian, black, hispanic, asian, etc. Because some cultures tend to think more in categories and limitations then others.

  • @Shilpusuresh I think I know what you are talking about. I see where you are coming from. as someone who is predominantly white ...ish (olive skin makes good kin) I am more likely to wash my hands and everything in my apartment after a black person leaves then I am after a white person leaves but then again my brother is the only black person who visits and when it comes to being clean he is the opposite of me. I have also noticed that culturally speaking black people don't seem to be as clean.

  • @Shilpusuresh I am not saying black people are not clean but they do seem to be more earthly. from what you noticed it is more likely (and I am making an educated guess here and nothing more) that a white person with OCD noticed something that red flagged in the white persons mind as "unclean" and triggered a response. also different cultures have different ideas on what is or isn't clean.

  • @karn33333 "earthly," "culturally speaking" WTF? But you're not a racist, cause you have a black brother! PUHHLEESE! No one has heard that before! OCD is one fucked up racist, xenophobic, narcissistic fad. NO! You wanna be a racist, join the KKK, atleast they will teach you to be honest about your racism, instead of euphemizing and pcfying your racist, prejudiced, classist, pseudo intellectual BS! Fish rot stinks, no matter how you wrap it. Your OCD isn't gonna save the planet!

  • @Shilpusuresh me having a brother who is black has nothing to do with the fact that I am not racist because race has nothing to do with it. its about culture. not liking certain things about a certain cultures doesn't make you racist. no it isn't now your just making shit up. it isn't a fad at all you dumb shit. having OCD isn't about saving the planet you dumb ass.

  • @karn33333 Calling people names because you don't learn how to read; illiteracy and ignorance are pretty good indicators of racism!

  • @Shil first of all in what way did I not read? if anything you are the one who failed to read my comment properly. illiteracy and ignorance has nothing to do with racism, and its no indicator of anything other than someone is illiterate and ignorant. your claim that ocd is narcissistic is completely groundless, as well as your claim that ocd has anything to do with xenophobia. if anyone is ignorant here that would be the person who is dumb enough to think the KKK is open and honest about racism.

  • @karn33333 You're clueless! Lets keep it like that.

  • @Shilpusuresh yeah I am clueless as to how someone can be as fucking retarded as you. look just because someone washed their hands vigorously after you shoved your entire arm up your ass doesn't mean they are narcissistic, xenophobic, or racist. LEARN TO WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS. not everyone wants a chocolate covered pretzel.

seriously this is the best response you have? way to not be able to back up a single fucking thing.

  • @Shilpusuresh

that's definitely true and i was never disputing that. i mean look at the cultures in which eating disorders are most prevalent.... the social element of a person's upbringing is just as important to consider as the biological and psychological. so we agree.

the latter part of my comment was a tangeant. i just felt the need to stress that OCD isnt only manifested by frantic hand washing. the rituals vary, and it annoys me that they're so generalized.

  • @hunnybee84 I can understand your frustration with OCD being generalized, but the behavior is irrelevant. Its grandiose narcissism, and that would be the one generalization I would make about it. Mostly, the have nots, learn to be happy without. They learn to let go, and be tolerant, and touch, and experience the world around them. When people have, they can fuss more, and become obsessed about things.

  • @Shilpusuresh

Actually, I think on the surface, it's logical to assume the behaviours are irrelevant when considering what drives them. And that was why I said my latter part of my last comment was a tangent. But if you examine more closely, oftentimes (and the literature confirms this) the compulsive behaviours of a person with OCD directly reflect the innermost "abscesses" of a person overcome with obsessive thoughts.

  • @hunnybee84 It makes sense that thoughts reflect in the behavior. But the behavior may try to fit what the society around them allows. Isn' t it fascinating how many are being diagnosed with this lack of control. It almost seems like under the guise of "raising awareness," they seem to be recruiting members. Most OCD's will look for possible signs, to inform others they have it too. Its like they are not happy, until everyone in the world comes down with it. Its like evangelical religion.

  • @Shilpusuresh OMG your so fucking pathetic. LMFAO every time you make a comment its even dumber then the last one.

  • His shirt buttons are off by one hole. That makes me OCD big time.

  • i love the forehead wrinkles

  • OH ILL TOUCH YOU EVERYWHERE IF I HAVE TO ;)

  • i had horrible ocd as a child but its gotten better as I've gotten older

  • Howie Mandel is the man! I have issues with OCD and ADHD, Anxiety Issues, and from time to time, depression. Not too bad with the depression but every once in a while I get depressed for no reason. Probably bipolar disorder. So, I'm glad to know that Howie has these same issues cause I kind of look up to him and realize that I can make it in this world too.

  • how can we not love howie?such a funny man

  • I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy this =)

  • I totally want this book!!!!!.

  • ok soo if hes OCD how does he have sex with women? LOL.. i guess he uses gloves and fingers them.. hahahaha =)

  • @devilhead124

lol he has like 3 kids so i guess he put his OCD aside for sex lol=P

  • @miaangel247 Hahah he deff had a tough time having sex i can guarantee you that

  • @miaangel247He drinks and drugs his OCD away for sexy time.

  • @devilhead124 holy shit dude,i couldnt stop laughing. Thanks bro

  • Howie was here last year shooting an episode of Howie Do It. And a woman from the audience asks to rub his bald head. Howie (seemingly happily) goes for it. When the commercial break comes, Howie is off to the side of the set yelling at his assistant to get him a F'ing towel to wipe his head off so he can wash off the germs that lady put on his head. Howie is a damn weirdo and an asshole in real life and not a nice guy at all like he pretends to be on tv

  • @HaraldTheTalker His OCD does not make him an asshole it is an actual mental disorder he can't help it. He can't have germs on him even if it is just that he feels like he has the germs on him. Go do some research you asshole.

  • @HaraldTheTalker if you had OCD you would have done the same thing

  • @itscuppycakeBITCH I had OCD and quite badly too, but never treated people like that. I wouldnt treat a dog like I saw Howie treat his assistant. I had OCD THrough several years of 'facing your fear' treatment, I finially overcame my OCD. OCD has nothing to do with if you are mean to people. Its an obsession and the compulsion to cleans yourself of it. Today my OCD is eliminated to a point where all I do is wash my hands once when I get home like any normal guy does.

  • @HaraldTheTalker he not only has ocd he has mysophobia, fear of germs. and dont try to teach me about ocd i have it too.

  • @itscuppycakeBITCH

LOL, Me too. lol. Extremely severe OCD.

  • @MCRdarkfaerie i used to be on medication for it but it was making my bloodpressure too high so they took me off of it

  • @HaraldTheTalker you are right he is someone that escaped a mental hospital

  • I too have (quite severe) OCD. I am very lucky to not be germophobic. Howie's book bolstered me in my fight against it for one day and that alone made it worth reading.

  • i love this book. its pretty funny & tells you a lot about howie & his life. great read go out & get it.

  • I admire Howie greatly for sharing his struggles with a brutal honesty. This is where that verse "The truth shall set you free" applies as I'm sure it's been a huge relief for him to let people know who he really is, even if some still laugh. Thank you Howie for your transparency.

  • DO YOU?

  • @quaxk usually people don't shut up when they are being interviewed. That's why it's called an interview. Fucking moron

  • I would like to read this. Howie is so cool. I don't think many people realize how difficult it is for him to appear so often in public, with his condition. In junior high, I started having problems like his, and it made me VERY shy.

  • I read the book and really enjoyed it. Some very funny stuff in there too.

  • i feel so sorry for Howie.

  • did u read the book?

  • no, I have a comprehension problem and I don't believe it is on audio, which is what I need. Um, no, I feel sorry for him because i have seen his ODC in action. I was diagnosed with OCD tendencies. I suffer from Apergers syndrome which is also a neurological disorder. it is a mild for of autism. I have problems with people touching me too.

  • I just checked Barnes & Noble, they've got a CD version as well as an MP3 version on audio. It just costs a little more than the hardcover. I hope you get a chance to check it out. I have PTSD, and don't like people to touch me either- no hugging, no shaking hands. You can actually get pretty sick doing those things. And to tell you the truth, I think Howie's right about hygiene. Everyone should be like him, in that way, really clean.

  • being real clean is one this, but being OCD is what the book is about, not even he would wish that upon someone.

  • Just don't feel sorry for him, okay? He's come a long way, and he's doing pretty good. I'm happy for him, and he's an inspiration to me. Please don't respond. This comment will self destruct soon.

  • no response.

  • 'Walk Like A Man'.......my favorite of Mandel's

  • well, I know what I want for christmas.

  • I just ordered this book, brilliant...!!!

  • wow i would buy his book
