  • Is that a corpse behing you? Eeeeee.

  • where on Earth are you? A hospital?

  • I'm not sure how it sounds compared to the SVC 110. The innards are probably the same so I imagine they sound the same. I usually use it as a practice cello when I travel and don't even bother with the sound. The tiny sound it produces without the electronics is enough for me to hear.

  • How does it sound compared to the SVC-110? Is it much worse?

  • Bravo.

  • hi, what a beautifull rich sound !!!

can you tell me which model your're playing?

    thanks a lot !!

  • @JD9707 Thank you and thank Yamaha for their ingenuity. It's the SVC-50.

  • hello, what a beautifull rich sound, can you tell me which model your're playing?

    thanks a lot !

    again beautifull !!!

  • Thanks ProfPF. I have a more recent recording up which is a bit different. Did you see my Sasha Schneider video? I,too, learned so much about Bach from him! If you get a chance check out my website and let me know what you think. Your fan, E.R.

  • This is a very nice performance. I am a Yamaha Artist and enjoy my Silent Electric Cello! You've found a good situation for yours, though of course I don't think they can be autoclaved... I do like it that you can bring some peace to this setting. You've chosen one of the most introspective movements from the Bach Suites. Excellent.

  • when I first saw the video I had a feeling of Frankenstein's workshop. I think it's because of the operation table in the background. Well played, though feels a little morbid :o)

  • Hello!

i ve just find your video.

you impress and inspire me! both m.d. and cellist!

i just wanted to ask one thing!

have you you adjusted this cello in some way?

ive just got the modell 210 and those highest tones on a string feels really difficult to play!!

  • Perhaps you are noticing the A string which has been tuned down to a G, as indicated in the score.

  • Thanks. Try the Suite No. 2 in d-minor or Suite No. 5 in c-minor (heavy). I recently put them up.

  • this is coool!

  • What a wonderful energy for a emergency room and for the work that has to be done there! Bach brings so much peace and calmness. And such a great interpretation. Tkank you very much.

  • awsome doc, um, any idea where i can get an electric cello??? ......excuse me, a yamaha silent cello?

  • do you have to wear your MD jacket to play the cello? is it your lucky charm or something? a bit scary from an audience perspective... =/

  • very impressive. hard to believe you managed to find time to practice while being an MD. do you play the cello for patients? i think they would appreciate it...

  • bravo, very well played! this cello seems to me not so silent!

  • just amazing i would just love to play like you someday!

  • Thank you very much. More to come soon...

  • More soon!? awesome! :) looking forward to that

Also.. what cello is that you're playing..? it sounds amazing! svc50? svc 210??

  • Brilliant. Lovely sounds from an electric cello.

  • What you hear is probably more influenced by the headphones or speakers you are listening through than the strings or bow. I'm not sure what strings I used at the time, probably old Larsen.

  • What kind of strings and bow do you use? I find the tone from my svc50, is a little more brittle, probably my bowing technique tho

  • What would Matron say? G-d knows!

None the less, i'd feel safe in your hands.

    Very nice Dr. Eric.

  • practice practice practice...

  • Hey crazy cello doctor dude could you give any advice for aspiring doctor's??? Beside the pep talk about study study study...

  • Fantastic job!

  • beautiful

  • will the real DR. CELLO please STAND UP!

    bRAVO!

  • I think the musicianship is far far above the usual youtube amateurs. Few people know the commitment and work needed to get to this point.. please add my congratulations to the queue.. !

  • i hope nobody needed that ER while you were playing man...

  • simply beautiful.

  • I love what i manage to hear but the download is so slow and painful that I rather move on than wait for ever. When I will be able to give it full attention but you are ,so far as I can tell, a pro.

  • Hi, May I know which brand and model of the Silent Cello you are using?

  • Yamaha Silent Cello

  • Judging by the dark color and lack of full scroll I'm pretty sure it's a Yamaha SVC-50.

  • Sembra che sta suonando un'aspirapolvere

    Very intresting... very depth

  • This sarabande is unbelievable.

there is no chord at all and a rare depth. There is nothing equivalent in all bach's work. Maybe the goldberg variation 25.

  • Well, I hate to interupt the compliments as to the performance, but let me say--as it be why I am here--that this electric cello itself sounds quite good and I've made up my mind to eventually obtain one.

  • dolofonos-

The Jensen air travel cello sounds so much better. This cello sounds good, don't get me wrong, but you can get better for your money.

  • Great playing. Didn't know you could play the cello in the ER. This setting gets the prize for being the weirdest for me haha.

  • If I ever go to the emergancy room I hope you're my doctor lol

  • Very good!!! I like your playing, the "concert hall", your performing dress. If you want, check my version, AFTER being in the emergency room!

  • wow your a great musician thats probly realxing to hear in an er.

  • It's so beautiful and moving that I started to cry...

  • yes...

  • cool, those silent cellos are awesome. So this is what doctors do in their free time...

  • Excellent

  • WOW. Some people say doctors make the best musicians! I have to agree!

Thanks for posting this, I've always wanted to hear what the Yamaha silent sounded like, I considered buying one, are they worth it?

  • nice work keep goin!

  • Very good playing. Plus, seeing your initials, it kinda fits with where you work there in the ER. Gotta enjoy every little bit of peace that you can get there.

  • I just want to know something... well realy 2 things:

first, how much time did you play with your cello everyday? because i realy don't imagine how busy must be a doctor's life plus a wondeful cello player!¿? Also i want to know if you ever play as solist? in a orchesta?

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for the kind words. I used to have the time to practice many hours a day. Now it can vary from a few minutes to an hour or two. I do try to play a little most days; I just have to be very efficient with my time and have a lot of concentration! I am working on some recordings right now, and hope to be able to post them in the near future. E.R.

  • nice, nice, this is a cello, bass notes rule in a cello, makes it unike

  • If only you were my doctor!

  • Nicely done. I'd like to hear you play this on a normal cello, though. I'm not a big fan of electric instruments, other than the electric guitar.

  • Thank you.

  • BRAVO!

  • Sublime. What can I say?

  • Thank you. Hope you enjoy my other videos. E.R.
