  • i have a betta from walmart and i've had him for 3 months now. he's still alive and healthy.

  • Walmart bettas are good but they don't take care of them

  • i thought the yellow one was very pretty

  • They look healthy enough to me. My Wal-Mart betta lived 3 years. Not saying you should buy them from Wal-Mart but claiming that they were "too far gone" is kind of bullshit. They don't even look sick in the video. Obviously their deaths had to do with your care. I mean come on, own up to it.

  • I bought a walmartbetta a long time ago, and it lived for 7 years.

  • this is fuckinly crap to keep these beauties in such small container so called betta box.......................fuck these wall mart people

  • to bad they were walmart bettas they were suck beautiful fish i really liked the yellow one

  • If you want to save the fish, don't buy from Walmart. If no one buys the fish, they will stop selling them. As long as someone gives them money, they will keep it up until no one gives them money.

To save the fish, stop buying them. It does sacrifice a few for the many more that will do better down the road.

  • i want to buy all of walmarts fish and sell them to Pet Supermarket or privately owned fish stores so they could be in better condition. Pet smart and pet co are some what like walmart, but not to their fish, but to the gerbils, snakes, turtles act. PETSUPERMARKET Actually cares a little bit more than Pet smart and petco

  • You got then penn-plax betta bow front 1/2 gallon to? I kept one in there till he died..... How i have a 1 1/2 gallon or 2 gallon tub that is cycling. I will get another betta fish.

  • THEY LOOK ALL HAPPY HAPPY FISH means good owners :)

  • Please read my video info. I am a seasoned fishkeeper and even with proper tanks and care they didnt make it long, maybe a lil over a month but not much

  • not to be mean though but its small tank not to be mean or anything

  • umm no wonder why they died the place they are in right now is not much bigger then the cups they come in

  • Neither of them strike me as incurably ill. I find it hard to believe that they died in a single month under optimal conditions... My first betta lived for about 4 years after spending the first year in my care (and who knows how long before that) in a small bowl that was, of course uncycled, unfiltered, and unheated, with very sporadic water changes...

  • Thanks for your honest feedback. Very informative.

  • that is so mean.rip

  • where'd u get that tank? its cute but definately not for two bettas! maybe for one small female betta! but i have a female betta that would like nice in there so whered u get it

  • sorry to hear they didnt make it D: but it sounds like you are an experienced fish keeper. thank god walmart stopped keeping fish :D and also if you do try to save anymore bettas get ones that have a good chance of making it. i only say this so that the ones that are doomed go to fishy heaven and the ones that do have a chance get to go from tiny cups to some1 who knows abut fish like u instead of having to stay in those cups and die.

  • :( i remember gettinga blue betta there with a fliter and everything but it died the next day :\

  • congrats you saved them from walmart what a hero!

  • walmart are fish killers but they stopped selling them already though.

  • @mikeyg17368 - good job of you! did the betta survive?

  • what a stupid tank :S like made to stress the fishes to death. plus they are waaaay too small :(

  • You think you saved them from Walmart?? You put two obviously sick fish in a small ass tank with a divider so they can spend their lives stressed out flaring at eachother?!?! You don't get a cuddos from me.

  • *harmful

  • they need a bigger bowl!!

  • Comment removed

  • @snapplechick716 you are an idiot. I have kept so many fish tanks in so many sizes it would make your stupid little head spin...educate yourself about a video before you comment on it ..read the information section. and FYI they dont always need a heater depending on how warm your climate and home is. also FYI both of those bettas were originally put in bigger tanks and they COULDNT MAKE IT TO THE TOP TO BREATHE! Thus the original idea to get the small tank until they got better.

  • @snapplechick716 and before you say anything about what I say in the information section about putting them in this take to "show my friends why they are called fighting fish and shouldn't be housed together" that was why they were put in this particular divided tank, not why they needed to be in a small tank to begin with.

  • @snapplechick716 its not crule they would make them if they were crule! I had a mosiquto fish i had one there only suppose to live for 6 months! Mine lived for 2 years and it was living in a glad container and it was as happy as can be and it didnt have a filter we swished it everyday chanfed it water everys day

  • @lipglossmania1 That's nowhere near the truth. Normal age even for bettas is three years. This is a fact if they are treated properly for disease, their water is changed and care is taken that they have useful bacteria in their tank to change their urine into nitrate (which is less harmless).

  • YOU SAVED THEM FROM WALMART GOOD 4 U

  • @TheBettalover123 Thank you, I tried. I failed with these ones but I did the best I could..they were just too far gone.

  • @fishyfinatic I got the same tank as that! But I thought it was a bit to small so I put one Betta in a bigger fish bowl and kept the other in that tank so I could remove the divider :)

  • @MinecraftTNTChick Please get them into a real tank as soon as possible, it is just cruel to keep them in bowls, or any uncycled tank that lacks a filter or heater, for that matter. I would recommend getting a cheap 10 gallon and buying a divider.

  • @drgnfrc13 Yup, we got my Betta in a nice 2.5 gallon, and my brother's in the old one I hade, which was a 1 gallon one. They've made their bubblenests so that's a good sign that they're happy where they are :)

  • @fishyfinatic if you would of took out the fake plant and put in some more medison they would of survived. I got my betta from walmart about 3 months ago and he is doing super uber well in his one gallon tank. im planning to move hom into a ten gallon tank with some neon tetras and one algae eater. dont worrie iv done my reasearch and they will live happily together. 4 neons 1 algae eater. can you make a video on how to set up and decorate a ten gallon betta fish tank? THANKS!!!

  • 0:54 they are flaring at eachother :( that means they are stressed out, just get two seperate tanks for them

  • @everythinggirl1000 READ THE INFORMATION SECTION BEFORE YOU COMMENT PLEASE

  • @fishyfinatic oops! i'm sorry, i am not a mean person and it sucks that those fish had to go through torturre at walmart

  • @everythinggirl1000 thanks :) sorry i responded that way but Ive caught alot of flack off this video from people not reading the info..and i was already having a bad day, Im a good fishkeeper and hate when people accuse me of not being one...again thank you, and I agree, thats basically what this video is for..those poor bettas were doomed from the start because of walmart.there wasn't anything I could do for them....I tried hard and failed.

  • @fishyfinatic well at least u did ur best for them :) and at least they had a home, that's all that matters. And from my point of view, i think u are a great fish keeper, and once again i'm sorry if i tried to go too far with my first comment or if i hurt ur feelings, cause i know that walmart doesn't care about ANY of thier fish. well, nice talkin' to ya :) keep in touch

  • I got one of the ones that came into walmart I got it the second it was set down!

  • i've had my betta for almost a yr now, Elvis knows when i come home b/c he gets excited swimming back n forth or maybe he's just hungry.

  • i am buying a 10 gallon today and buying the "uglies" at my local im not going to watch them rott...

  • You keep them outside ??? My betta is potty trained

  • Like our page on Facebook to help us fight Walmart! Together we will stop Walmart! Like us on Facebook, our page is called, "Fight Wal-Mart Fish Cruelty" Thanks!

  • I still have my betta from walmart, his names batman. I've had him for 2 years already!

  • How big is each of thier tanks?

  • I've actually usually had pretty good luck with walmart rescues. Usually they make it 6 months or more. Had one that only lasted a month, but that was due to my mom overfeeding it. I got another to replace it, looking great and doing great so far (had it for 3 weeks)

  • I Have the same tank but I TOOK OUT THE DIVIDER AND USE IT WITH GOLDFISH.

  • shame they didnt make it. theyre gorgeous.

  • i have the same tank for my betta

  • Yes walmart sucks at caring for bettas but if you can't heal them and make them healthy yourself when you are foolish enough to buy one then you are a terrible owner. Don't buy Wlamrt bettas if you can care for them. I just bought one who had the deadly Dropsy disease. Not wanting it to die I bought it meds for only 6 dollars. After only a week he is happy and healthy....

  • @carapar56 well thats nice that yours was still healthy enough to be saved when you bought him, the yellow one i bought was so far gone he wouldn't even eat. Ive kept fish for many years now, have had enough tanks set up at once to have my own pet store, i know how to take care of fish, and these were very very sick and they yellow one was too far gone for anyone to help. flame made it alot longer and i think it was a problem with my house water that got him.

  • @carapar56 ....dropsy isnt curable though.

  • @carapar56 god bless you people think oh there tons of them and im like exsactly i just love people who care for little things that matter just as much as other things

  • what is wrong with youwho takes 2 bettas to a park

  • @cutiepie2166 wow....this was taken on my front porch...just because there is grass and trees in the background doesn't mean its a park..some people do still love in the country.cant you hear the windchimes in the vid? what park do you go to that has windchimes up?

  • Walmart sells pets? What don't they sell?

  • @sspamer Well, they haven't sold any people yet, but a Walmart near me just started selling a portable gizmo in electronics that powers all your gadgets and charges cell phones.....and you NEVER have to plug it in a wall socket cuz it has 1.25 grams of nuclear radium which heats up a thermocouple array to generate electricity. It's a mini nuke reactor whose fuel supply lasts 20 years with normal use. It's 299.00. Obviosly I'm joking about the mini-nuke gadget.

  • plastic plants can hurt them D:

  • THAT PLANT IS SO FCKING STUPID. like the betta has too much space so there has to be a dumb plant in the middle

  • @lilrdog i agree, it was a dumb tank with stupid fake plants..i took them out..then a few days later the yellow betta died and the other one got his own 2.5 gal tank

  • never buy fish from walmart. they are always either dead or dying.

  • @iwuvpepperkitty That's true.

  • o-o My betta from walmart looks like its constipated...

  • my 5 year old lil girls bettas are doing wonderful in that tank! there is also a blue divider or blinder so called piece and you use that they dont flair......they are happy and FAT!!!!! lol

  • i have two bettas and i am trying to get a bigger tank for mine (just need to explain to my parents that it's to small) and my bettas are thriving they are so happy (except for the tank size...) They come right up to the tank wall to say hello to me

  • @amfruhling To let you know bettas can be in a gallon tank for a vase since they breathe only air... no filter is needed for hem. i have two male bettas i have one in a gallon tank and he's happy with it and my other which is about 4 is in a vase, he been in a vase for 2 yrs

  • @VinceniaValentine i know that.... i want my fish to be spoiled....(since they are truley MY pets... not my parents.. like the dogs and cats in the house.. and bird)

  • thats a bad idea even though there is a divider they can smell eachother!

  • you should probably find a store thats not a chain lots of times those fish are healthier

  • Wont they be really stressed since they're constantly seeing each other in their "territory"

  • The yellow betta was great :(

  • Lol my betta is from walmart it was sick too but mine has lasted about a year and a half so far

  • NICE TANK AND FISH :)

  • i think they need more room...

  • sorry neather bettas survived the first mounth but aleast whar thay alwas wannted to be HOME.

  • I had a tank like that..... the trees will cut the betta's tail off, just to warn ya.

  • Got another betta today ! boy a make halfmoon dragon! the rarest one!

  • that little light bulb dude is an animal abuser

  • what's wrong with yellow one?

the fish can hardly swimming to the surface.

    don't you see it?

  • @elastonova69 yes i saw it, nothing i could do, he died like two or three days after i took this vid...he was already dieing when i bought him from walmart

  • @elastonova69 the air chamber was not developed corectly in the yellow ones body, i found this info somewhere on the internet years ago and i also once had a betta like that

  • cool! l have that exact same tank for my betta!

  • @neeneeyonumber2 It's really not good for them to be kept in such a small tank. This was temporary, as the description says.

  • @horsegal8372 yeah! i just put mine in a bigger tank a week ago he looks happier =)

  • @horsegal8372 i know this is late, but thanks for reading the description..so many people on here jump on me because of this video.

  • they have christmas tree

  • i am turning eleven and my bettas are still alive. i have ten now 5 males and 5 females. 1 male is my brothers one! I got one from walmart again and its still alive and well. also the ones i bought two month ago!

  • y u kept them in a pot lol?

    u smooke wed or somethin/

  • ur yellow betta has a disease...u shud bring it to petco

  • That yellow one seemed like it had a rough time swimming to the top to get some air. That wold suck to live like that for a month!

  • i got a betta at walmart and its lived for about a month in a 1 gallon tank.

  • i got a betta at petsmart and he's going to turn 5 years old this july

  • Wow you got a yellow one from Walmart? =0

  • i have a fish tank like dat!

  • i have that tank but it is for my smaller Betta. i bought two Betta from walmart and there were sick but i keep them alive and i am only ten and a half

  • luckty im 10 yrs old and i loved my betta and he died R.I.P. CLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HES is one of my videos :(

  • wow im a year younger than you

  • this should be a response to babyrose9090

  • they werent in here very long, they were just in there to show my friends why they are called fighting fish and why you cant put them in a tank together.

  • they look a bit squished in that small pice of shit

  • yes they were, its a stupid tank.

  • @romanruler5 dude bettas are fine in little spaces well tehy dont like it but there fine

  • @NavySEALsSpectator lets put you in a closet and see how fine you will be :)

  • @romanruler5 hmmmm fine i will cause if i were a fish i would hate it they could live 5 6 years in a cup

  • omg i like that tank how much gall?

  • swet! i need o tank like that! whos ofering to buy one for me?:D

  • go buy 1 in walmart they cost like 10$

  • i have a lpilt tank like that and i have two bettas from walmart

  • SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME

i bought a tank that is big and has a divider but the divider is not opaque and is transparent. and the male betta keeps flaring at the girls on the other side. what can i do? is there a way to make the divider opaque?

  • Just buy an opaque one... Or, you can leave it out in the sun, clean all of the other bits of glass, but leave the divider uncleaned so it becomes opaque with algae. :P haha.

  • You can cover it with some natural looking things, You could put some plants to cover it.

  • I dont even think wal-mart gives a damn about their animals!

  • @hotpinkcrayon99 it all depends on who works in the pet department, My friend works in our walmart pet department and takes realy good care of the fish here. feeds them 2 times a day and cleans the outside of the tanks 2 times a week unless thier are kiddie finger prints and then he cleans them again. they just got Dragon fish in and was realy upset that they didnt send the right amount of them in(they are supposed to be "housed" with 3 or more and they only send in 2. and he know all about thm

  • ur so lucky getting a yellow betta fish. I can't find one. We had only one at the bird shop I worked at but I didn't buy him.

  • WAY to little space :( poor fish

  • Walmart does NOT take good care of betta fishes. =(

  • Nice fish :) I almost got the same tank.

  • aww there pritty

  • THATS THE TANK THAT I HAVE FOR THEM!! but when i take the blue divider out they flare but theyll stop and i got mine from walmart put the divider back in when its time for feeding and put it back in at night

  • That means that you bettas are stressed all day. Even if they look pretty while flared they are looking at a fish that they would fight to the death.

  • @picatsoforfma as i stated in the description the divider was only taken out for a little while a few times to show my friends why you cant keep two male bettas together. and yes i know that even with the divider they can still smell eachother, it wasn't a permanent set up and they were put into bigger tanks shortly after this video was taken.

  • @picatsoforfma READ THE INFORMATION SECTION

  • nice betta at least you rescued 2 bettas from cruelty

  • Omg I hate Wal Mart! :( I got 2 Betta from there and cured them from tail and fin rot. I was worried they wouldn't make it, but I was determined to fix it. lol and its so sad how they can't take care of their fish, its really not hard. I want to make a petition against them so they won't cause any more fish to be ill. But wow your yellowish fish looks just like my Chester! :)

  • i have a tank just like this and hav 2 bettas and they are fine i put different plants in instead of the green things but they are fine lived for 2years until i took the lid off to clean it and the one jumped the divider and killed my other one:(

  • maybe u should get them a bit bigger tank with some kind of cave...they will be much happier then!i used to keep my betta fish in a small container and now hes in a 10 gallon aquarium and hes swimming all over the place !!! :)

  • always go into pet stores and buy bettas as much as i can cause they always treat them bad and neglect them, but people finnaly pressured a local pet store, soldans and now they at least put them in larger containers. its still not enough though. i have a make betta from a pet store in my community tank he is doing well.

  • I'm not surprised that the bettas you got lasted longer than a month.

I got mine from walmart and it died like, two weeks later.

    Walmart totally sucks.

I got some from PetCo and PetSmart and they've lived far past walmart fish.

  • Maybe they died because you let them out in the sunlight in your other tank too?

  • Shame...they were nice bettas...mine only lasted a week even after meds so :)

  • please be aware sometimes of plastic plants because they can sometimes rip the betta's gills

  • WOW some of these people yelling about the tank size are stupid. They like to live in small spaces and will die from stress if you put them in a big tank. The only way to keep them in a big tank is to make sure they have lots of small places to stay in. Even in the wild they live in small cave like holes and hardly ever swim in the open water. I have 23 bettas and I have 6 of the same tanks that you show and the rest are the same size and the fish have lived for years in them.

  • wow...

  • Sammy, i think youve got it a bit wrong, people yelling about tank sizes, to an extent, are not stupid. true the bettas do live in small spaces, true you shouldn't keep them in a larger than 50gallon community or 10-15gallon on their own, the bettas live in rice paddy fields, which have little water space because of the plants. Well done for having so many bettas, but if you keep them in that size tank and they live for years, that is a lie!

  • wont thaey flare at each other?

  • Yes, they will, but this tank had a blue divider to put in the middle so they couldn't see each other. I just took it out a few times to show some friends how they reacted to other male bettas.

  • I bought two fish from wal mart and they live in a tank like that. they are still alive after one year! the yellow one is beautiful

  • wow, your walmart must sell much better fish than mine does. thanks!

  • o ya i got a betta from walmart and it died after 15 minutes of it stressing out over being in a bigger tank it died.

  • nice bettas, great vid , i have 4 myself 5/5

  • Thank You!!! :)

  • n p

  • any ways i did read that u put them in for a week. THAT IS STIL BAD! dont u no that ur a HORRIBLE fish owner, and how do i no that. because a good fish owner wood not let their betta sress like that for even the smallest second EVER. thats the reason they DIED. its not because they were walmart fish it was because of U. so u better not buy anymore fish unless if u dont do that EVER again and u GIVE THEM A HEATER AND MUCH BIGGER TANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! u stink.

  • You are an idiot. Learn how to spell and learn more about fish and then come back and speak to me properly. I have kept many fish for many years and these bettas did not die because of me. There was a divider in this little tank so they could not see each other all the time. They only saw each other for probably 2 hours at the most during the whole week they were in the tank. They were in very clean water and it was summer so there was no need for a heater.

  • im not an idiot ur an idiot anyways give ur fish much bigger tanks and maybe they'll like u for a change

  • seriously ur fish just need a little more space thats all cause wen i saw them they didnt seem active or happy so i thought maybe they just wanted a little more space 2 swim around and so thats all i just got mad about that so sry.

  • They were sick Walmart fish, and when I did give them more space, one in a 2.5 gal and one in a 10 gal, they looked just as miserable until they both died.Walmart sells sick and dying fish. I have kept tons of fish over the years and I know what I am doing. Putting them in this little container was to show a friend why they are called fishing fish and why you shouldn't put two males in a tank together.

  • o sry u cood hav said that.

  • I thought that my sentence "Sadly, even with all my care and bigger tanks, neither betta made it past a month" in the info section along with the title "walmart bettas" explained that but I guess not. I updated my info to try to explain better so there are no future mix ups.

  • ur so cruel dont u no wats goin 2 happn 2 ur fish theyre gonna di from that horrible little space u gav them and from flarein at eachother constantly, the least u cood do was 2 put a male on 1 side and a female on the oher. but i still woodnt do that. i have a big glass jar that i bought and a heater (theyre tropical fish, they need heaters.) and i still think mines space is way little for him. any way u shood get all new supplies or get a book on them cause u will nd up killin them, thats bad.

  • Are you a child? Or are you illiterate?

  • maybe ur just an idiot for doing that 2 ur own FISH!

  • I think he licks the windows while riding the short bus!!

  • what kind of water do u use tap or deer park ,etc....

  • They died because of stress, constantly flaring at each other like that. Its not good for them.

  • does nobody read the information section? they were only kept in that stupid little tank for a week and it had a blue divider that they could NOT see through. They only had to see each other for very short periods of time so i could show some people how they reacted to other male bettas. they were both moved to bigger separate tanks and they still died because they were WALMART FISH

  • i love the yellow one

  • maybe they need a bigger enviorment

  • did you not read the info at the top right?

  • uuuhhh...maybe

    lol

  • al the fish tht i get from waltmart are pretty good....

you just have to kno wich to take home

  • Chain petstores like Petco and Petsmart are usually just as bad as Wal-Mart. It usually depends on the knowledge of the employee in the fish department (if there is one). But Wal-Mart does sell much older fish...

  • also nice fish

  • petsmart and petco have great betta i have had mine for 9 months and he still healthy as ever and only has a 1 gallon tank props to petsmart!!!!!

  • my cousins fish lives for seven years

  • it didnt make it past a month becuse its walmart they do not care for fish idc about them that much ether but my fish are to make my lace look nicer tryst me all walmart fish are infected they dont claen there tanks or give them medican now i got my fish offline and there neon tektras

  • Good you rescued these guys, but they need lots more room in separate tanks where they can't see each other. Having them flaring at each other all day and night in space too restricted to get away from the other will drive them nuts and shorten their lives. Pet stores will always advise small spaces for bettas; they want them to die so you will come back and buy another one.

  • Thanks for being concerned..that was only a temp setup to show how they flared at eachother. I moved the red/purple one to a bigger tank and took out the divider for the yellow one to have all the space in that tank but sadly neither one of them made it. I have kept fish for years and have never had any luck keeping walmart fish alive. I shouldn't buy them but sometimes my heart gets the better of my brain.

  • Try petco or petsmart next time, you might have better luck there!

I just bought two common goldfish/commet few days ago and 1 died on that night, it was already sick with swim bladder disease but I didn't know because the moment the retailer put his net in the tank all the fish has scattered and gone wild. I wouldn't be able to see who's healthy and who's not right?

Anyways, the other one is still alive with a goldfish. I hope they can live peacefully together.

  • i saw a really bad looking betta at petco it looked like ot was on its last fins. but all the other bettas looked ok

  • I got a goldfish at walmart the other day it died!

  • i know what everyone is talking about. the other day i went to look at the fish in walmart and so many dead fish were stuck on the intake tube that the water was barely flowing! plus the water was probably all dead-fish infected

  • wall mart don't take care of fish very well, every time i go there half of them are alaways dead.
