@DEMCAD I was taking my History of Kentucky course yesterday and my professor made a point that, all the times that countries have become ruled by totalitarian governments and dictators was during the worst of times in those countries histories, for example Hitler, Stalin, etc. History repeats itself, the worse our society gets, the further it goes into depression, the closer we will be to a totalitarian society and possibly a dictatorship. The US has a handful of people that sitll vote.

@DEMCAD Back to, bringing back all of our soldiers to such a crippled economy, will increase the unemployment rate due to the fact that all of those soldiers won't be able to find any jobs once they return back to the United States.

@billyshob They will have to return anyway. Doesn't make more sense putting them on the borders to spend their cash at home while securing our borders? Plus, the government would have to build a lot of new defensive home bases in America, which would force the military to spend cash at home. Do you see where I'm going with this?

@DEMCAD Maybe...Maybe you can elaborate more? In addition to your point of buliding more defensive home bases...How is this going to be possible if our senators are trying to force the Generals to cut the military spending budget by approximatley 500 billion dollars? They won't have any money to spend :S (Fyi, I'm trying to take what I learned in my course and apply it here, though I'm not sure how accurate my proessor is so please correct me if I am wrong somewhere...)

@billyshob The reason why the spending is out of control is because we're constantly starting new operations. Mutiple wars, maintaining foreign bases, massive transportation cost, corporations ripping the military off with overpriced equipment via contracts.

@billyshob Study the recovery after WWII. Soldiers came home, married, got jobs, MADE things and the US economy sky rocketed.....and the Fed govt. didn't "create the jobs." Yes, there were some trade schools at the time, my father went to one. Also, the military can be used in America for many jobs like border security. When military spending is cut, those dollars come back to America to cause prices to lower -- money goes further, prosperity.

Also, Obama is pulling the troops from Iraq because the withdrawal date was set during Bush's Presidency. This is so he can point his finger and say LOOK! @DEMCAD I was taking my History of Kentucky course yesterday and my professor made a point that, all the times that countries have become ruled by totalitarian governments and dictators was during the worst of times in those countries histories, for example Hitler, Stalin, etc. History repeats itself, the worse our society gets, the further it goes into depression, the closer we will be to a totalitarian society and possibly a dictatorship. The US has a handful of people that sitll vote.

@DEMCAD And, during that same time period, we had Roosevelt who attempted to stack the supreme court, enacted numerous programs subsequently ruled unconstitutional, and surreptuously send US assets to non-neutral countries (and we were 'neutral' at the time). Historical evidence also includes foreknowledge of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
