@voltage6969 Energizer lithium ions seemed to be the brightest but Duracell rechargeable's weren't far behind. I'd go with the rechargeable's because they're a hell of alot cheaper in the long run.

The beam on the laser is amazing. If you point the laser up into the sky at night it looks like the beam never ends. All of my friends were super jealous when they saw mine. Another cool part is that the laser can burn stuff. Your friends will be amazed when you show them you can pop a balloon with it.

Hmm.... I've never heard of that. Dealextreme will just decline your order if you order a laser over 5mw, not send you a different laser.

It depends how long it's pointed at their eyes. If it's pointed at their eye for a second or 2 then they will just be seeing a big black dot for awhile, but if you point it at their eye for like 5 minutes than they will have some eye damage.

I tried a whole bunch of batteries with mine and i found that Duracell rechargeables worked good. Energizer lithiums though seemed like they made it alittle stronger but not by much.

The green beam should be very visible at night. It's also visible in the day time but not as visible as it would be at night.

The true laser means that the power is closer to what the makers say it is. Like a true 100mw is more like 80mw's when a normal 100mw laser is more like 70mw's.

Well...... If you live in the US Dealextreme wont ship lasers greater than 5mw but if you dont than i would go with the 100mw because the factory mods their lasers and the 150mw is jacked up higher than the 100mw and it will burn out faster than the 100mw.

No, georgewhg is talking about brightness of the laser. If you have a 100mw green laser and a 100 mw red laser they will both have the same amount of burning power but the green will be brighter.

It's actually a bit more complicated than that. The laser doesn't emit heat. Unlike the incandescent bulb, which has emission in both visible and invisible spectrum (deep infrared), the laser is closer to the fluorescent light, which has a narrower emission band (mostly visible light, thus the increased efficiency). Still, the laser only emits on one frequency alone, the fluorescent tube emits on a multitude of frequencies.

And it's the too strong light per too small area that causes the heat.

Although "heating with no heat" is possible with green laser at very high powers, this 100mW laser is most likely the cheaper version, an infrared laser passing through a frequency doubler crystal, to achieve green. Both 1st harmonic (infrared) and 2nd harmonic (green) are then let out. The infrared is causing the most part of the heat. In professional green laser pointers the infrared frequency is blocked by a filter, because it's dangerous. The green light is not that strong in this.

They say it's a modded 50mW to 100mW laser. You can only wonder about how long a life that laser will have. Personally I'd buy a true 100mW laser, even if it costs a bit more.

The anti-IR glasses are not necessary outside in the distance. But for close range work are very indicated. Anyway, if you're not gonna use them, keep the laser away from pointing it towards shiny, reflective materials or metals.
