They use different base flavors too. Coke is based on Vanilla. I've heard Pepsi is based on lime, which is why there is a Pepsi lime & Coke Vanilla - and why Coke floats with Vanilla go back to the 1950s.

Coke also contains cinnamon and nutmeg. Both great flavours. With a good pallete you can taste both. Different temps bring them out better.

I think it's because my dad liked Pepsi and that's what he introduced to me first.

Coca Cola always did have the better jingles and commercials though.
