We don't quite bow down..common misconception. Canada is independent though we are still technically a part of the commonwealth. Believe it or not we're more similar to America :)
The monarchy still runs the show, though. Remember last year the parliment wanted to declare a vote of no confidence in Steven Harper? So what did the queen do? She sent in her governor general and said "screw you guys, he's my boy, bitches!"
that's okay. We THINK we live in a Constitutional Republic, but it's more accurately described as a corporate fascist state.

The governor general has virtually no power other then when there is a vote of no confidence or when its time for an election. other then that she's a figurehead.
