Hey Andy, does this have more gain than the boss powerstack?I'm wondering if I should just get one or both, because I need a low gain and a high gain pedal in my setup. Thanx
I'm looking for a distortion pedal in which I can play diferent styles. I hate the Metal pedals that sound so "digital" and annoying but still, the genre is something I play with my band.I also like the overdrive sound for other sorts of songs. I was wondering if theres a way you can equalize the sound of this pedal to a closer sound of a distortion one (putting all the gain up, increase the trebel, etc.) but also equalize it to use the sweet overdrive sound it has.
@megatallicadeth uhhhhh i think when i had my old stock amp from my fender kit several years ago.. you could put treble down and make it sound a little bit better... but i have no idea, the tube screamer is supposed to be great
Good pedal. But now I find myself only liking the amp overdrive sound better now. Overall, This is a damn good pedal. It is one of my favorites next to my Keeley TS9 mod
I use my Keeley BD-2 as a clean vol boost after my OCD...puts my lead lines right up in front of the mix....thinking of getting the Fulldrive to replace it though, more versatility w/out me having to buy another OD pedal..
The pedal alone is amazing, but if you want a lot of dirt, use the Fulldrive to compliment your tube amp's distortion. IMO, that's where this pedal really shines.
@angusyoung23 Depends on the amp and the attitude one's looking to attain. I would also consider the Plimsoul for that. Does the Jeff Beck lead very nicely.
I like the sound of this pedal a lot more than the OCD that everyone seems to cream over. The OCD has way too much gain, imho - it's more of a distortion pedal than an OD. The FD2 seems more versatile, too.
I'm not getting anywhere the amount of overdrive from my fulldrive. Are you guys running it on 9 volts or 18? Or is there something wrong with my pedal?
@BrianMorrison71 it must be your pedal or guitar. I can get enough drive just at 9'o clock on this pedal and use teh boost for a much heavier sound. all at 9 volts
my question is: I like playin ACDC and Airbourne type of music, you know, rock and hardrock, but also like playing SRV, an hendrix music. do you think that I'll can get the ACDC's or Airbourne tone with this pedal, the fulldrive 2 mosfet, or for that music is better the OCD?
Sorry for my mistakes in english, I still learning :P
I am thinking of replacing my Boss SD-1 for one of those. But...I only have a 9V power-all adaptor to power it with. Is it okay to use a 9V adaptor for a fulldrive 2? Or do i really need a 18V?
This pedal kicks ass. I have a 65 twin RI- ts9-fulldrive 2-lespaul and the possibilities of super duper clean, a down dirty dark tones are endless. Helps my mediocre electric skills sound presentable. If your good, it will make you sound godlike.
T rex reverb kicks ass. also you cant go wrong with the tc electronics nova delay. if your looking for a good analog delay instead Id go with the way huge aqua-puss delay.
boss pedals cost less... i don´t think they are any good besides the tuner, noise supressor and maybe the compressor... i have this ones and some more like the blues driver 2 and the ds-1.. i would never buy them again if i needed distortion pedals
I been using a bassdrive to get some "sceraming synthy" guitar effects. The sound I was going for was overdriven but very shiny... which I used the tone knob for. Anyways, the tracking is for bass, so the guitar gets lost during live play with other individuals regardless of how good it sounds by myself. Anyone here have suggestions on other pedals that would do fix the tracking problem while still getting that "Screamin Synthy" overdriven sound?
I have the blues driver. Rather than replace it, i am planning on getting another OD and using the BLues driver on a low gain setting for a warm boost. I wouldnt replace it, just change its function
Hey im going to be doing alternative rock with blusy, and funky influences and im looking for overdrive that is relatively versatile, but without any muddyness that comes with worse quality pedals. I play through a les paul and a marshall, as the lead guitarist for my band. Which pedal better suits my needs, the Vox Cooltron Big ben? Or the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 MOSFET?
I tried this with an Epiphone Jr. For the hard rock and 80's metal that I like, I had to crank the knobs wide open. I used an Epiphone Valve Jr stack. This pedal is great for blues and all but the harder modern metal. For that, you have to move up to the Fulltone GT-500, in my opinion.
Hey guys, If your pedal board is wired so its atomaticaly is powered can i run this pedal with it without having it shorting everything else out and blowing the battery? or would i half to use a battery?
If by automatically wired you mean you've hooked up a Voodoo labs pedal power or DC Brick then you'll be fine. Just plug it into the right voltage setting, I'm not sure whether this pedal is 18v or 9v. I'd assume 18v.
i know this is gona sound stupid, but.. how would this pedal sound played thru a SS amp or a modeling amp? something like a Line 6 Spider III 15 watt amp?
son, save your money to buy a tube amp. i have had them all, line6 to tube amps. although line six is fun its a toy compared to a tube amp. trust me. look at ceriatones webb sight, and start there.
son, save your moeney for a tube amp. then worry about pedals. look at ceriatones webb sight for affordable tube amps. i have had them all from line6 to boutique amps. line6 is fun but when played side by side, its night and day.
Only one right answer to that question - take your guitar down to the store and try some. Punk/rock is utterly meaningless in terms of guitar tone, punk bands use very different sounds between them, although to be honest you cant really go wrong with a fulltone or zvex. If you can afford them, try the Fulldrive 2, this OCD pedal, the Zvex Box of Rock, MXR do decent ones for slightly less. Boss if your budget is low. Who do you want to sound like?
Boss OD pedals are 10 times better and usually ten to twenty or sometimes even thirty dollars ceaper than MXR but their distortion pedals sound (like MXR) shit.
The only good pedals MXR has is the Carbon Copy and Dyna Comp pedals
i need a pedal just to boost my volume. but not a volume pedal, coz they effect the tone
i only play in distortion but when i get to a solo i just need a volume boost. i was looking a the MXR boost/line driver and this oen looks alright too. any ideas?
By itself it has some impressive and warmer OD sounds for solid state. However it still responds like solid state though.
That said if put in the chain of a pushed tube rectified amp, like an AC15,5e3,etc..,I think it would mesh nicely with rectifier, cathode bias sponginess.
I've tried this with other "stiff" sounding pedals and the marriage gave me a tone arguably better than just amp's OD by itself.I got a nice complex tone, tight yet spongey, responsive and with a singing quality.
I have a FF2 but the problem is is that I can hear the click through my amp. I have a Boss DD-7 and had a Line 6 DL4 in where everytime I had a delay on, then turn on my FF2, I can hear a "Click...click...click...click." Depending on the delay settings it can be louder, faster, and longer 'clicks' can anyone help me with what's wrong with it?
Sounds like the unit itself, myn does not do that.Best bet is to go plug a new one in with your board and see if its the unit itself,Id bet thats probably what it is.Thats why I always plug new stuff in before I leave the store with it,its happend a few times to me and sounds like it just happend to you, good luck. But honestly its probably the unit Ive had myn in line several different ways on various rigs and never had that problem.
it's funny how the guy who tests the gear for proguitarshop always tries to get basically the same tones - his favourites - from all the gear he tests...
@ProGuitarShopDemos LOOLLLL andy youre the man bro, i love your work and you always give me the last thing i need before i buy a product online. A GOOD ASS DEMO
question...does the boost add a lot of volume?...cause i was thinking about buying this and using the Boost section as a solo boost to add some gain (i dont really care how much gain does it add) but would it add enough volume?...thanks
For a volume boost try sticking an EQ pedal in your effects loop. Set the EQ flat but raise the level, it should give you as much of a volume boost you'll ever need depending on your amp.
Hey if you want just a good volume boost save a few bucks and just get the Fat Boost or something Like a Keesly Java boost. I have the fat boost on a AC-15 to get a little more clean kick and headroom and an edge with using something like a TS-9 for a solo or to stand out just a little from the other guitar player I play with from time to time.
I owned an OCD which was absolutely awful sounding. I bought a fulldrive 2 from a friend and love it. It's like a super flexible tubescreamer. Highly recommended.
I like that Fulltone actually makes many overdrive pedals that sound different. Lots of people make the same pedal with a different box, color and a knob or toggle switch that will do what your guitars knobs can do. Two thumbs up for Fulltone for keeping it real.
I couldn't get the Fulldrive, so I got the Bassdrive 2, which I really like. Should I also grab a Fulldrive or would it not do anything really different?
Several pedal makers, including BOSS, release many different versions of a single pedal. It's not like they aren't getting it right, they're just improving on a good design.
What is better to give me some nice crunch and at some warmth to my signal. (i'll be using it with a Roland JC-120 and a Fender Rhodes Mark II FiftyFour)
good, would you demo this pedal with a strat or a tele ? because many people use this pedal for texas blues style specially for playing blues not those power chords you play !
A lot depends on the setup...the amp, speakers, pickups, even string gauge... I have the old orange and original blue one both have huge low end growl with my super reverb.
what is the amp/guitar combination in this video? I own this pedal, and it does NOT sound like that to me (even through a decent quality tube amp)! does running the pedal on batteries make it sound better?
This pedal sounds really good!

question...does the boost add a lot of volume?...cause i was thinking about buying this and using the Boost section as a solo boost to add some gain (i dont really care how much gain does it add) but would it add enough volume?...thanks
Otsugua 3 years ago
it does not add volume. Actually it stays prettey much at the exact same UNLESS you use the compcut which increases volume alot
Sampz93 3 years ago
For a volume boost try sticking an EQ pedal in your effects loop. Set the EQ flat but raise the level, it should give you as much of a volume boost you'll ever need depending on your amp.
danyeo 3 years ago
IMO the volume boost is pretty big, but I use a really low gain setting on the non-boost channel.
NJlo 3 years ago
Hey if you want just a good volume boost save a few bucks and just get the Fat Boost or something Like a Keesly Java boost. I have the fat boost on a AC-15 to get a little more clean kick and headroom and an edge with using something like a TS-9 for a solo or to stand out just a little from the other guitar player I play with from time to time.
NostalgiaT01 3 years ago
it depends if you have the drive set pretty low then the boost will have more volume but as you go up in drive the volume difference decreases
dkrumrie123 3 years ago
I agree, but if you can't play loud enough to get natural amp overdrive this pedal will do it!

PGS - your demos and reviews rule!
I think I dig this pedal more than the GT-500. And I'm a gain-a-holic.
jacknarcotta 3 years ago
I owned an OCD which was absolutely awful sounding. I bought a fulldrive 2 from a friend and love it. It's like a super flexible tubescreamer. Highly recommended.
blueschicago62 3 years ago
fulldrive 2 or satchurator?
ricebowlranch 3 years ago
what do you ears tell you?
jacknarcotta 3 years ago
These pedals are really different. They really aren't comparable.
copperrocks 3 years ago
I like that Fulltone actually makes many overdrive pedals that sound different. Lots of people make the same pedal with a different box, color and a knob or toggle switch that will do what your guitars knobs can do. Two thumbs up for Fulltone for keeping it real.

What would you guys recommend the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 or the Fulltone OCD?
erosar10 3 years ago
Fulldrive, simply because its more versatile, and better sound. However, the best overdrive ever is the Fulltone GT-500.
rokr432 3 years ago
gt-500 and fd-2 have different tones
I personally prefer the fd2 for my style of play
Sampz93 3 years ago
Would I be better off with a fulldrive or an ocd for a solo boost?
jimladen78 3 years ago
maxon OD-9 for solo boosts, but if u want a good blues tone or watever, FD is the way to go.
chriscoooley 3 years ago
check out the Barber Direct drive. Kills the ocd in a comparison video by PGS. And its well know for its transparency. Great for blues too.

man i love these proguitarshop reviews!

so i have a question. is fulltone a boutique brand? great pedal, my friend's got one
chriscoooley 3 years ago
They arent really a boutique brand. Id say Landgraff, Paul Cochranes, and BJFe pedals are boutique brands.
guitarist509 3 years ago
theyre in the middle in my opinion. they have a great sound, good wiring, etc.
theyre not like klon or robert keeley, but theyre not digitech, boss, or dod
amarr1 3 years ago
Was that an Australian band, Silver Chair in there? :-)
nickeax 3 years ago
I couldn't get the Fulldrive, so I got the Bassdrive 2, which I really like. Should I also grab a Fulldrive or would it not do anything really different?
nickeax 3 years ago
Kinda a turnoff FULLTONE cant get it right the FIRST time, how many dam Flavors of the fulldrive will there be?Money whores
I have the oldblue one n sparkledrv n tubescream/chipped,I prefer the sparkle n tubescrmer.

Several pedal makers, including BOSS, release many different versions of a single pedal. It's not like they aren't getting it right, they're just improving on a good design.
sleeepingpills 3 years ago 9
their trying new things, besides if you like what you have, what's the problem?
thebeatled 3 years ago 5
What is better to give me some nice crunch and at some warmth to my signal. (i'll be using it with a Roland JC-120 and a Fender Rhodes Mark II FiftyFour)
HammondB200 3 years ago
it would probably be best through a tube amp. well, everything would, but particularly OD pedals
chriscoooley 3 years ago
I have a 10th anniversary one of these and its so good..best overdrive pedal out there in my opinion.
Beadlely 3 years ago
good, would you demo this pedal with a strat or a tele ? because many people use this pedal for texas blues style specially for playing blues not those power chords you play !
FMehryary 3 years ago
I got to have one of these! the CompCut mode sound awesome!
TUBEMAN192 3 years ago
Haha yup, CompCut's my favorite one!
SpartanHawk 3 years ago
THIS IS GREAT! Sounds so good.
ssomethings 3 years ago
ok I watched it again... i figured it was a paul. hah.
regardless, I dunno why, but in this video the pedal seems to have so much more growl and low end than mine. weird.
habsfan170 3 years ago
A lot depends on the setup...the amp, speakers, pickups, even string gauge... I have the old orange and original blue one both have huge low end growl with my super reverb.
BigDaveDeluxe77 3 years ago
what is the amp/guitar combination in this video? I own this pedal, and it does NOT sound like that to me (even through a decent quality tube amp)! does running the pedal on batteries make it sound better?
