I swear to God, when the Plastic Ono Band album (the BLUE one) came out in late 1969 or early 1970, that was the trippiest shit around. The different versions of Yer Blues, from the White Album, to Rock and Roll Circus, to Plastic Ono Band, shows the greatness of this song. Damn, I am shocked, shocked, (heh, heh) to see these guys re-group like this. We all gave Yoko a pretty bad time over the years, but she has hung in there and is still cool.
Eric's great, Sean's voice is very much likes his dad now since he has grown up, that's lovely and cool. But please Yoko, I mean, why do you hate us so much???

Sean sounds like he's waiting to finish puberty...and what "blues" does poor Sean have to sing about? Oh, his father was killed when he was 5. Yeah, that sucks - but John had gone through a lot worse and put a lot more emotion into this song than Sean could ever come up with. IMO, this kind of "performance" isn't keeping John Lennon's music alive, it's just trying to make a buck and a "reputation" as a performing artist. Lennon's legacy doesn't need something like this to keep it alive.

Sean sounds like he's waiting to finish puberty...and what "blues" does poor Sean have to sing about? Oh, his father was killed when he was 5. Yeah, that sucks - but John had gone through a lot worse and put a lot more emotion into this song than Sean could ever come up with. IMO, this kind of "performance" isn't keeping John Lennon's music alive, it's just trying to make a buck and a "reputation" as a performing artist. Lennon's legacy doesn't need something like this to keep it alive.

@touchandgod the word "but" was prefacing the statement that John had been through a lot worse, not dismissing that Sean's father had been killed. I still say that Sean has no legitimacy to sing this song, and this performance does nothing to keep John's music and legacy alive. I'm sure if John was alive to hear this, he'd be proud as a parent, that his son is a performer...but inside, he'd probably be thinking "what the hell is he doing with my song? Where's the emotion?"

Fuck the haters, Yoko's voice blended into that song very well. Sometimes her vocals sort of overtake the song and become their own thing but they felt seamless here.

I personally love Yoko. Saw one of her works at a John Cage exhibit. It was called "Smile Box." It was a small, hand-held box with a mirror in the bottom of it. Her song "I'm Your Angel" on Double Fantasy is great. How could anyone truly get John's message and hate Yoko?
