  • Why is Mike labelled as Peter at 1:44?

  • @Docv400 This was part of the comedy schtick-- they used to play around with the credits at the end of the show.

  • @Docv400 it's from the tv show opening, they label all of them Peter

  • Los mejores

  • this is my favorite Monkee song.

  • @1960jack GREAT LYRICS EVEN IN THESE TIMES.

    R.I.E.P Davy

  • RIP Davy Jones .

  • rip davey

  • Great to be able to remember when they first showed, every kid wanted to start his or her band. Even the Beatles thought the Monkees were great. I saw them without Mike, at Pine Knob sometime in the late eighties...don't remember which year.

Maybe Davey is playing with John and George, with others that have gone before....

  • @schnuazerboy one hell of a band when all the boomers get there!

  • Davy Jones passed away on Leap year Day, Feb 29? Even in leaving, he was cute!

  • sorry to see you go way to early at only 66 davy....but we sure had fun in the 60s didn't we!

  • R.I.P. Davey Jones! They should bring back The MONKEES On TV LAND!

  • @Starchild798 this weekend all episodes will be aired in memory of D.J.

  • @Duran09007fan ok,thank you very much

  • @moneyclaude2500 I agree, they should put it back on in the Memory of Davy...!

  • @moneyclaude2500 AMEN!!! :D

  • Wow, what a great time to be a teenager.

  • I remember this was the closing theme of the show...the picture of their four heads on the orange background would flash and then each of their faces, followed by each of them with silly expressions. When I was a kid, I had such a crush on Davy so my mom took a Polaroid picture of the tv screen when his face popped up. It sounds so cheap now that I think of it, haha.

  • Thank you for posting this - brought back a lot of great memories.

  • oh my lord. songs like this are the keystones to liberty.

  • cool hippie voice and groovy rhythm

  • awesome work on the video

  • I remember when i was a little boy they played the reruns after cartoons on Saturdays back in Late 60's and early 70's.After the show was canceled I always liked the show very funny. They were MTV.Before MTV came to be.They have been so under rated I guess some one else was suppose to get credit for putting them together as a group but without their talent what we would have.Nothing better than this I bet

  • Boy were those fun days!! I remember it all to well, from the beginning to the end every thing about the Monkees was to cool. I would pretend to play the guitar and put on a "Mike hat" when this song was on. The Monkee Mobile GTO was to die for!! I really wanted to be the 5th Monkee

  • Oh, one more thing: great cartoon likeness of the guys! =D The cartoonist who The Monkees in cartoon form must be complemented for a job well-done! =)

  • Thanks for posting this in its complete form! =)

  • This was the Season Two closing theme.

By this time, the boys were allowed to play their own instruments on their records, which also allowed them to go on tour in 1967, becoming one of (or maybe the) highest-grossing concert tours that year.

  • good work

  • got the old ''headquarters'' lp for christmas in 1982.love that album.still got it.

  • An 80's kid who became hooked at 14!!!!

  • @migamilan I've been fan since 1976, when Los Angeles TV station KTTV Ch. 11 showed this show for the 1976/77, the 10th anniversary of this program. =)

  • OMG PETERS SO CUTE @ 1:34

  • Wow !

  • cool

  • Love Mickey Dolenz's vocals!

  • @Kingrob30 I know. Peter was supposed to sing this song but he gave it to Micky to sing

  • You're right about the first half of it: This tune was at the end of the show, but I believe the "still shot" pics of them (top center) was the only thing used -- the solo shots/funny faces was the intro with the Monkee's theme... I have 2 episodes on VHS and this is the way it was - or they could've changed it up, but that's what my videos show --- ok... someone come on behind me and say, "WHO CARES?" lol

  • @1958marky I agree...who cares.....just enjoy the song people

  • This always played when the show was over. It showed pictures of the fellas making all sorts of diferent faces.

  • I love this tune... you can hear the "freedom" in the lyrics and how simple things were to live by in these days, despite the war -- now, everything is screwed up with no relief in sight and it might as well be Viet Nam all over again... and no MONKEES to make you feel any better!

  • @1958marky Keep the faith friend. Things will get better. Plus you do have this at least

  • @1958marky Yeah, at that point (early 1967) nobody realized how badly the war was going yet, there was an insane quantity of great music pouring out of the studios, and, of course, it was before all of the 1968 badness. A year later, the Monkees' TV show got cancelled because nobody was in the mood for frivolity anymore.
