  • It costs something to be a christian. The kingdom of God is not free. It costed the life of Jesus, and it costs ours too.We must lose this life to gain the next. Don't be afraid. Jesus raised from up from the grave. And when we chose to live with Jesus, we will not have to face eternal death. PRAISE GOD! It takes a great courage and humility though. I hope I will be as brave as this girl if a circumstance such as that.

  • I just watched a story on Bio about a girl (Crystal) who survived the shooting. I was about to turn the TV off when I heard them say "Columbine High School" and immediately looked for this. It just reminded me that I hadn't seen this video. I love it!!!!

  • Ey lovezzz dis song! :-)

  • Waterdragon........were you there when the gun was pointed at Cassie, or are you just looking for a convenient place to vent your spleen??????????? Please, shut up & go somewhere else.....

  • RIP Cassie i know your with god and all of his angels hope to see you one day

  • @Orcakid87 Cassie rejected her faith, she said that she only believed in God because her parents did. Valeen Schnurr is the girl who died for her faith, Cassie was misidentified by a classmate.

  • @waterdragon1908 ok GOD said not to judge people and for that you and I do not know what had happened we were not there and weather she did or did not I believe she was a strong person that did say yes she believed and neither of us know what was in her heart to believe so please dont be rude and talk badly about the dead and have a blessed day ;-_

  • To Cassie, may God bless you in your courage to not deny what others would. I hope you're dancing with angels!

  • Isn't this the song for cassie bernall... =/

  • @CrzBioHazard Yes, one of them. Flyleaf made an amazing song about her, it's called "Cassie". I like flyleaf's song much better. they have an acoustic version and a rock version. This proves tupac's lyrics in one of his songs, saying "Death row is full of demonstrators". I pull allot from the music that I listen to, as you can see...

  • the only thing I don't understand is the "she swam in the sea, drank of the deep" line... drinking sea water isn't a good thing... I'm not trying to split hairs here, I love this song and always will... I just don't understand what he means by that...??

  • I think of the message of this and it moves me deeply...appreciate your life and make sure you are right with God today...today is the only day we have, we don't know what tomorrow will bring. LIVE TODAY FOR GOD!

  • God Bless her soul<3

  • Yes I do beleive and I live for Christ Jesus ..Thank you Michael W.S for singing and witnesing for Christ .God bless all his children!!!!

  • R.I.P. Cassie !

May your days now be filled with God's presence.

Your an inspiration for many, and your dead brings new lives, dreams and hopes!

For now we know that the Lord is with us, even in times when it seems the dark has won, your story lives!

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters.

May the Lord be with everyone who is standing there to make a choise !

And let it be You Lord, they choose for !

  • @Sannuh87

Her "story" is a myth. It is a breaking a commandment to BEAR FALSE WITNESS and LIE. So stop propagating a proven urban legend.

  • @loner1878 - No, Cassie Bernall's story isn't a 'myth' or a 'lie'. While it's very true that in all likelihood, it was another student (Valeen Schnur, I believe) who said 'yes' when she was asked if she believed in God, that doesn't lessen why Cassie Bernall died. Every student Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris targeted was someone they didn't like, for whatever reason. Those boys knew Bernall was a Christian. She said 'yes' with her entire life, even if not on that specific day.

  • @lauraembee

Yes, it IS a myth. The fact that it is confirmed it happened to Valerie Schnurr and not Bernall, yet people propagate the story regardless makes it a textbook example of an urban legend. Use your brain. If they were targeting christians, why didn't they kill Schnurr when she said yes?

Klebold and Harris's targets were RANDOM. It is another debunked myth that they targeted specific students. Anyone in their line of fire was a target.

  • @loner1878 no it a myth .. get ur facts rite.

  • @proudmama0804

Learn how to spell before commenting. Shitty grammar makes you look like a dumbass (even more than you already do for buying into the myth).

  • yes I believe

  • Everyone, LEAVE A LEGACY for those behind you

  • I believe.

  • Face the mystery of all you can be!!! xx LOVE !!!xx

  • Freedom in Jesus!

    This is my time!

  • Jesus saves!

  • why christian guys are so handsome and cute?

  • @belegulo why thanks.lol

  • @belegulo Because of our inner peace.

  • May God Almighty will use u more and more

  • I can't believe this song was disliked by 12 people.

  • I find that kind of thing is usually a result of overcompensation. Not always though, sometimes people just like to complain.

  • god love you

  • Songs good I'm now trusting & believing!!!! Carol x

  • muito lindas os teus videos parabéns

  • m,uito lindo

  • Cassie's story is still very close to my heart 12+ years later. I was a sophomore in high school when Columbine happened. You will never know when you will be called to stand for your faith. I pray we all have the faith to stand as she did.

  • @BlessedGuitar83

You do know the "do you believe in god" conversation never happened with Bernall, right? She was just shot. Surviving victim Valerie Schnurr was asked it, not Bernall.

  • @loner1878

And how do you know? I think the question was surely asked to Cassie.

  • @Hediedforme1990

No it wasn't asked to Cassie. Emily Wyant, who actually witnessed Bernall's death, was hiding beneath a table right beside Cassie when it happened. According to her Klebold simply slammed his hand on the table, yelled "Peekaboo," and shot Cassie without exchanging a word.

Schnurr and Bernall had similar voices, and when interviwed by the FBI, the witnesses pointed to where Schnurr had been hiding, not Bernall.

  • @Hediedforme1990

Valerie Schnurr was wounded and hiding when one of the shootersapproached her. He asked her if she

believed in God. She said no, then yes; he asked why. "Because I believe and my parents brought me up that way," she said. He reloaded, but didn't shoot again. She crawled away.

The FBI extablished that the exchange with Bernall did not take place. Sorry to disappoint.

Churches seized onto the Bernall story and turned it into an urban legend, which is reprehensible.

  • @loner1878 I'm a fence-sitter on this one. Most forensic services I know of only use "eyewitness testimony" to help establish a chain of general events, since people can become confused and disoriented in a crisis or a panic situation. Regardless of whether the exchange between Cassie or Rachel Scott, and the gunmen did or did not occur, both of them are still martyrs by the original greek definition. Rachel was also targetted by the gunmen for witnessing to them several weeks prior (cont'd)

  • @Historymaker2001

Indeed, eyewitness error was what attirbuted the exchange to Bernall to gein with. When interviewed by investigators as to where they heard the exchnage coming from (no one saw it besides Wyant), students from the library pointed to where Shcnurr had been hiding, not Cassie. The girls had similar voices.

  • @loner1878 (cont'd) On one of Eric and Dylan's home videos, Rachel's name was specifically mentioned and mocked by the two. Cassie on the other hand was likely not a premeditated target, as there is no evidence that she had any interaction with her killers until that day (Rachel had known Klebold since Kindergarten).

BTW the original greek definition of martyr is "witness".

  • @Historymaker2001

Well that's not how the term "martyr" is used today, unfortunately.

I don't agree with your argument - wouldn't that make all victims of Coumbine (not to mention every victim of a crime ever) "martyrs?". Most of the victims at Columbine were purely random targets. Scott was shot because she was sitting near the entrance when their rampage began. Wrong place at the wrong time. And btw, the FBI also established no verbal exhange occured there either.

  • @loner1878 You miss both of my points, the first being that eyewitness testimony is controversial, and cannot be relied on (which is what both the argument that Cassie DID have the exchange and the FBI conclusion that she DIDN'T is based on). Only God knows what TRULY happened there.

I also never said that there was any exchange at the time of the massacre. The exchange I spoke of took place weeks beforehand and was witnessed and confirmed by multiple individuals. (cont'd)

  • @Historymaker2001

I know eyewitness testimony is flaky (I studied forensics and law enforcement), and I pointed out it was unreliable eyewitnesses that started the whole story. The girl who saw Cassie's death is reliable, considering she was right next to Cassie (under the same table) when she was shot. That's about as good as eyewtiness testimony can get.

I wasn't referring to the exchange that happened weeks before, if you bother to notice.

  • @loner1878 Sorry for my misunderstanding re: the exchange, you were talking about the claim that Rachel also professed her belief in God at gunpoint. I agree that it wouldn't be a great idea to paint two random victims as martyrs, which is why I look beyond that day and at the individual's story leading up to that point. Cassie's and Rachels are quite remarkable (I read their biographies), and had they actually been asked, they both probably would have answered "yes", the answer they gave God.

  • @loner1878 (cont'd) Plus there is the fact that she is mentioned by name and mocked in one of the videos Harris and Klebold shot in the weeks leading up to that massacre.

Oh, and when I meant "martyr"="witness" I meant it in the religious terms (witnessing about God, Jesus, etc), not as in "I saw it". So by literal translation/definition, it would not mean the witness to a crime. Sorry for the confusion.

  • @Historymaker2001

Yeah, but she was still primarily at the wrong place at the wrong time. If they hadn't come across her, its not like they would have sought her out on purpose. they also stated they had a beef with jocks, but the majority of their victims weren't jocks.

Yeah, I think trying to paint two random crime victims as 'martyrs" for faith propaganda is downright reprehensible.

  • Cassie's story just makes it so much more real about how God is willing to forgive anyone. She was involved in drugs and witchcraft, but she turned to God instead.

  • @truckdriver3126 course anyone with the name truckdriver would be to stupid to realize that your comment is uneeded :o shut the fuck up and get off of youtube because you aren't trolling very well

  • Yes, I will always believe in Him! ALWAYS!

  • LOL @ columbine

  • This is so inspirational, 12 years ago, and today. I pray for the strength to do what Cassie did. Thank you! I'll see you in heaven!

  • Is the name of the album the same?

  • Comment removed

  • This song reminds me of Ronnie James Dio's Song, "This is your Life".

  • Makes you ponder what would you do if you were n her shoes? lets say you had your child next to you would you save your child and say your not a godly person if you thought that the person would kill your kid?, Cassie the Lord is with her he was there she did something that some of us might have done I truly thank the Lord everyday for his love and i hope if i am evr in that spot i will do the same thing she did Lord bless all of you good people here for Cassie is safe now Amen

  • :)

  • It's so hard not to shed a tear to this beautiful song and sad story. God Bless You Cassie and I pray that God is always with your friends and family. You are safe now. You are with our Awesome God in Heaven.

  • i dont know if anybody else knew this but the bagpipes were not origonally going to be part of the song, and michael thought the song was missing something. he added the bagpipes, recorded the new version and played it for the family. he had no idea but the bagpipes were cassies instrument in school.

  • yes I believe!

  • I love the guitar in this. Sounds almost medieval. Am learning to play it. :D

On another note, you don't have to be religious to like this song. I think it's incredible that someone would be willing to die for what they believe in. I don't believe in Christ, but I hope one day I can die for what I believe in. I don't know how it'll happen, but it'd be a good way to go. Kudos to Cassie. You're one badass Christian lady.

  • Because bagpipes make every song 100 times better, but on a serious note, amazing song, very inspirational... God blessed you with a wonderful gift

  • full of hypocrisy in churches but the Holy God loves all, sinners, hypocrits and murderers

  • You can't be a good person, no one is. Maybe by your own standards I suppose, but G-d is so good and amazing he made a way for us through his son Christ Jesus, Faith is believing in the unseen, so if you have faith, have faith to believe in Christ, knowing you will see him face to face, knowing your daddy in heaven is proud of you for actually being a good person, through his son, Christ Jesus.

  • im probably on the wrong video but just to let everyone know...you dont need jesus to be a wonderful person and live a wonderful and spiritual life...remember people nobody knows where we go when we die, thats whats so beautiful about it...you may believe in Jesus but remember at the end of the day its only faith, whatever makes you live a happy life, as long as everyone happy:)

  • 11 people were hanging upside down and thought thumbs down was thumbs up.

  • The killlers should have left themselves alive. I'd rather them get caught than have them die without them paying the price.

  • They should have left themselves alive. I'd rather them get caught than have them die without them paying the price.

  • one of my faviorte songs

  • im a christian im not the most devoted one though jesus has done alot for me and i fell i owe him ive gotten counseling to grow in my walk with christ but i do not want to be a strict christian i mean not watching movies with cussing or sexual content i like those movies i just don't want to be that strict as a person pray for me

  • my church talked about this all the time when i was younger

  • Time is short... Our Lord and Savior is coming, we have to Prepare out self... wait that doesn't sound right? Let me ask you something the world is hurting and people are broken but we got to prepare our self? When did God say just worry about yourself and don't worry about the broken in heart that won't know me the first time around... Teens Creed is preparing others for the Time we are saving as much as we can but we Need Help! Calling all Christians!!!! They need your help!! Are you ready?!

  • This brought tears to my eyes. I will follow God and walk the talk.

  • as Christians following Jesus , this is our time and we are privilege to know that even when we leave here, the next life will be our time as well...

so live every moment *here* as preparation for a greater time *there*! Glory to God forever!

God bless and keep you all! i love you MSW!

  • My pastor sermon today was about there is 3 types of eyes. 1)seeing through our physical eyes, 2nd eyes of heart , 3rd eyes of our soul. Most of us rely our eyes on 1 and 2.God allows hardship for better blessing so, don't harm our body in smoke, alcohol, drugs and suicide because God truly will protect us. He allows hardship so we can see god through our soul that he will never leave us if we only have faith. I truly realized that he truly exist because he helped me see what is unbelievable

  • If I was in a situation where someone told me to deny God or die.. I would die than to deny God and spend enternity in Hell..

  • to live is Christ, and to die is gain, as St Paul said in the book of Galatians.

  • she was an amazing example of strength and loyalty to the Lord. we will see her in heaven soon.

  • i feel kinda bad about this but..who was cassie burnall? :$

  • @Chrisyheart She was one of the people killed in the columbine shooting.

  • There is nothing God will not forgive, short of denying our Savior...Put youur selfishness in His hands...He understandss. Prob'ly religion, Baby...Christiaanity is freedom to love the Lord without the taboos...Your desire to please him, for a gift.

  • She said yes

  • @HauntedLighthouses seriously? then wen yor butt gets shot in the head ur going to hell.

  • @iamawesome523 hey thats not for you to judge!

@hauntedlighthouses god knows your heart. in the mean time i say pray for strength in case something were to happen, you have the strength to do what you believe in. :) god bless

  • do you believe in god? yes

  • RIP Erin Riley Staton 09-27-08 to 10-15-08 I love you my sweet baby girl and I cant wait to see you on day in heaven

  • great song, video could have been better though

  • This is a testimony of love... there's so much love in this song it brings tears to my eyes... God bless the thousands of Christians who have died for him! :')

  • This song should go out to Nicole the girl of my dreams best friend Gina

passed away this Thursday. She has been struggling and that's been worsening my depression. When my friends are in pain

    I'm in pain

    =(

  • This song should have been dedicated to Cassie and Rachel.

  • christianity is a choice.i pray that those who are complaining will have a real encounter with Jesus that they will never forget and they will spread the love of Christ

    to the world

  • @LegendKillerJustin a guilt trip?!?! highly correct... right... Christians should not be afraid to give up their life for the lord and thats all it was. its to show that she had an outstanding faith. its to show that Christians shouldnt be scared, to stand there, at the door of death, and show no fear.

  • @LegendKillerJustin I'm sorry you feel that way... But lets just say a few things. This song is not proving anything and is not a guilt trip and your right there's not a shred of physical evidence that she said "yes" but on the other hand there's not a shred that she didn't say "yes".

The only thing in this song is love and encouragement.

  • @ImOnFire101 i am not talking about Cassie here! i am talking about the Mother that had 2 eyewitness say she was just shot while praying! now here is the Question ImOnFire101 how does the Christians that use this story or inspired by it have the Holy Spirit who deals in Truth only? another question. How many people have left Christianity based on people like Misty that are only in it for their selfish gain?now do not mistake i think it was a very tragic event and i am sorry that the victims Died

  • @addarrack

Look, I'm sorry for your loss. That somewhat gives you grounds for being angry. But honestly, I'm still confused at WHY you're so angry. Is it because you think MWS is a hypocrite? Is it because of this message? What? Help me understand.

  • Powerful.

  • The ad under this video is "Judas: by Lady GaGa...What?

  • beautiful song :) whats it about?

  • I AM DEDICATING THIS SONG TO MY WIFE DEBBIE OF 30 YEARS.

  • LOVE THE BAGPIPES!!! GREAT TOUCH TO A GREAT SONG

  • @TheJoesgirl30

The bagpipes in the song were added at the last minute, because michael was led by God to add them, only to find out later that the bagpipes were Cassie's favorite musical instrument.

  • who was she?

  • @addarrack "She" was Cassie Bernall. She was one of the 13 victims of the Columbine Massacre on April 20, 1999. Though opinion is still divided, many believe, from eyewitness testimony, that she was shot after professing her faith to the gunmen. That is why she is featured in this video.

  • @Historymaker2001 And Rachel Scott

  • @addarrack This song is about a girl who died in the Columbine shootings. When she was asked "Do you believe in God?" she said yes and was shot.

  • my brother killed himself as well (may 2). But, to invoke humility...I've had plenty of that. My real concern is the ad/confession on the front end of this video. Her. whoever she was died? but yet I don't get the sense you knew her....fine. are you related? What I get from MWS is the belief in living. P.S. his acceptance of Wells Fargo doesn't help. Like I said...fire your editors.

  • Fire your editors. Non believers and chirstians, and hippocracy, and to live for christ? I don't know her. Did she commit suicide? If she did this message by MWS is worthless. I want to kill myself..will you give me a video?

  • @addarrack she was a martyr !!! she was killed for her faith!!!! that is not suicide it martyrdom!!!!!

  • Two countries, different cultures, different ways, totally different economies with more like a short story (shooting at Columbine and in Brazil, shooting Realengo. I hope the Lord Jesus, do not wait to come back because I can not stand this world, full of tragedies. Jesus, King of Kings and Lords of Lords.

not speak English more I use the internet (google tratudor)

  • ALL OF MICHAEL SMITH MUSIC 'S ARE GREAT AND POWERFUL... HOPE GOD BLESSES HIM W/WORLD TOUR CONCERT ! HE'S GOODLOOKING AND A GOOD CHRISTIAN JUST MY TYPE LOL HIS MUSICS TRULY MADE ME GET CLOSER TO CHRIST. GO MICHAEL !!

  • @chloek00 I know right another one for me is Rich Mullins watch his video it will inspire you I know that guy has a special spot in heaven singing awesome god for everybody

  • On my channel, I have a website listed that really does a good job of explaining the gospel and salvation. Its the scribd one (for any who are interested).

  • i hate the guys that killed cassey and rachel it sucks poor her and rachel because now they will be in history forever and why do some people just think about the other meaning about 4-20 it is pointless the other meaning cassey and rachel said yes knowing what would happed there last words were yes i belive in

God think about cassey and rachel they are special.

  • oh man how uncontradictory she wears a hard rock T shirt then talks about jesus n religion hahaha no prob no prob btw this guy is hot idk why all of jesus men are hot is this some kind of a trick?

  • @theuncanspan so christians can't eat at the hard rock cafe?

  • @bronc30td yo my man do you even know the girl? why arre you defending who you think yourself huh? your you just wanna argue

  • @theuncanspan not defending anyone....I'm not even a christian. I'm simply asking why you think that her wearing a t-shirt from the hard rock cafe is contradictory of her faith.

  • @bronc30td lets just drop it i mean your whole reply was pointless to begin with see ya man

  • @theuncanspan I don't see how it was pointless....but I'll drop it, no problem

  • over 10 years now!

  • God Bless the people at Columbine! God Bless the people the Christians that died at Columbine 12 years ago today!!! What a fabulous 12 years they have spent in Heaven with the Lord. They now wear the crowns of life. :)

  • I was a HS sophmore when this attack occured. Even though, at the time, I was 2/3s of the country from what unfolded at Colombine (I didn't hear anything about it until later that evening truth be told), it still was a shock that it happened, even though I remember other schools had shootings prior to this. Even though security has increased since then, people still need to see and react to any red flags to prevent another tragic event like this.

  • I can't listen to this song without wanting to cry. May the memory of Cassie Bernall and all students at Columbine HS who died on that day be eternal.

  • It was 12 years ago today that Cassie Bernall and Rachel Joy Scott went Home to Heaven to be with Jesus Christ!! I can't wait to see both of them when I get to Heaven, but really, I can't wait to see Jesus Christ!! My prayers goes out to the victims that lost those that were killed 12 years ago today at the Columbine High School shooting! My prayer is that if you are Born Again, I pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort you in this time of need! If you are not saved, then you need Jesus!

  • @iwanttobeajesusfreak more than 2 people died that day though, many others went Home that day

  • I heard in a radio interview with MWS that he put the bag pipes at the end of the song but wasnt sure he wanted them there so he asked her mom what she thought if he put bagpipes there and she started tearing up cause bagpipes were her daughter's favourite instrument when she was alive...i got the chills, wow talk about God

  • @xavdixe17 I've heard the same thing. I also heard that the original song was recorded without bagpipes, but he added them in after he "woke up at 3 in the morning and heard bagpipes playing". I'd like to think that tribute came from God Himself.

In Canada, bagpipes and military drums like this are usually reserved to honour servicemen and women. Cassie was a frontliner it God's army, and she more than deserves the honour.

  • gbu smith......i wont be in arad when you came...but this is not happening.....i`ll wait you in Romania again:)

    gbu!

  • beautigul

  • beautiful song

  • Being a christian is great!

  • WOW, AWESOME! Thanks for your testimony Cassie! You showed Courage and Planted a seed! Thank you so much!

  • 8 PEOPLE MAY HAVE DISLIKED BUT THEY ARE DROUNED OUT BY HOW MANY PEOPLE DO LIKE. <3 RIP CASSIE AND GODBLESS ALL THOSE WHO LIEK THE SONG.

  • @heathersbetter I would like to suggest that you use spell check. Thanks,

  • @HOOSIERLOVER The fact that you would focus on someones spelling instead of the message of the song ....well that is just disturbing.

  • @jumpyjedi Intelligent people usually get more respect when presenting arguments for discussion that those who are not. Since when is it okay to be lazy when writing or speaking? In no way did I detract from the message of this beautiful song. Now what is more disturbing, my response to the misspelled word or your need to spout off in response to a conversation that did not include you?

  • All I want to know is why 8 people disliked? I don't get it.

  • @lytmare4ever that's what I said!

  • @lytmare4ever Maybe it's because they either don't like "Christian music" or it was too sad for them so they disliked it.

  • @lytmare4ever Very well Said! I remember that day all too well. My prayers go out to those who died every time I hear this song.

  • @lytmare4ever me niether

  • AMEN!! :D I was at a Micheal W. Smith and Amy Grant concert last friday and it was INCREDIBLE!

  • I will say "yes"!

  • Of the three songs that were based on what happened to her this is probably the most touching one.

  • @efs5030 what is the third song? i know its this song, "Cassie" by Flyleaf, but what the third song?

  • For anyo
