I think the song swings and grooves a lot better if the tempo is held back... As a bassist, I like playing this song a lot more when it is held way back.

ya the trumpets did rush a lot but my trumpet section has the same problem but not as much as them, i think its because the notes are all eighth and sixteenth notes.

this song is pretty bomb, i must admit. we play it in our school jazz band too, so it's interesting to see how other schools play it. i'd have to agree that it was a little rushed, but not much. it sounds good fast.

Although you definitely accelerated through almost the whole thing, I think taking the song at the brighter tempo adds some intensity.
