  • We should ban idiots from you tube too. They just waste everyone time angrily writing things they haven't a clue about. I think we should have YouTube ban anyone who says stupid things. We should ban trolls too. Or even better, we should ban YouTube users from voting for politicians, or choosing their own destinies... They are all too stupid anyhow.

  • Wow how sad is it that San Francisco beat China in placing authoritarian policies in place. If im buying several items most of the time I refuse a bag, but when I use them they are recycled for around the house using like taking lunches to work or picking up dog poo outside. All the bags are thrown away after reuse and never pollute the enviroment outside of a land fill...JUST LEAVE US ALONE GOVERNMENT.

  • @amberpoovey Yeah this bugs me too. There's a 100 and one uses for plastic bags around and the only difference now is I have to pay for them.

  • I am an Indian and China is our conventional foe. but I wholeheartedly congratulate China for taking the right steps. I am a world citizen first, national grudges come in later. I freaking wish India and US grow brains and learn something from China. go china go!

  • fuck the bags ban the government ! wats this doing here u cant watch u tube in china !!!!!!!!!!

  • HOW CAN YOU GO GREEN WHEN U POLUTE SO BAD

  • @makavel2ii

So they are trying to go green by banning

    palstic bags.

    fucking ass whole

  • thats why u need to do something? are you dumb or something?

  • china is investing in green technologies. pretty soon china will be as clean as the brainless skull of yours. watch news more dumbo.

  • alright bitches i posted like a month ago my point was they have so many factories and shit making thier air filthy but thier trying to go green with plastic bags? what about air polution? america is cleaner and we have plastic bags.... but they come from china

they make the plastic bags so work on air polution and green gases fucking swamp rats

  • exactly everyday some moron is like duhh cuz thier trying to go green but plastic bags are not the problem... i get 10 comments a day about my comment a month ago lol

  • **** you green freaks!!!!!!!!!!!

you listen to this socialist info. land of the socialist and home of the welfare check!

  • make the plastic bag thinner so it breaks easily, that way people are forced to buy greener products that are stronger.

  • I approve!

  • fish yu

  • why don't they just get those biodegradable plastic bags instead of just banning plastic bags altogether?

  • biodegradable plastic releases carbon dioxide after its degraded.

  • No shit.... people and animals release carbon dioxide when they breathe. Why don't we ban breathing too since it produces CO2

    -.-

I would reather have a biodegradable plastic bag that breaks down into CO2 and water than use more oil and live a life time in plastic trash!

  • there is a difference between reasonable amounts of co2 like from breathing, etc, and unreasonable amounts that the environment cant handle

  • if your so worried then dont fart.

  • i do believe biodegradable bags are really expensive, i remember we used them here in canada in a food recycle program, 1$ Canadian per bag, size of a small garbage bag

  • wonderful idea!

  • why shoot the most ugly place in China? as I ve seen China is much more clean and modern than most city in USA

  • nahhhhhhhhh

  • THIS IS OPPRESSION!

    Support "Free bags over oppression"!

  • hahahaha lmao

  • That is so great! right now San Francisco is the only city in the US that has a ban on plastic bags...how sad.

  • this is interesting. I never heard of countries actually banning plastic bags completely. I hope that happens here in Canada. we have the "buy a bag and keep using it again" thing, but most people forget to bring theirs.

  • this really does work it has been in ireland for a few years a nearly everybody doesnt bother getting them plastic bags anymore and litter is less of a problem by far than what it use to be

  • Way to go China! This is what a normal human should do to protect the environment. Two thumps up!!

  • @viethluu We should ban time travel movies too. We should ban lots of harmful stuff like other peoples lifestyles and consumer choices that we don't agree with. It would make things better for everybody. Just think, If we had less of that pesky consumer freedom stuff, everyone would be forced to care about the environment. I like being forced to do things, don't you!!!!! We should all be oppressed in the name of the betterment of society, next we could ban cars, they are so dangerous nowadays.:0

  • China needed to ban plastic bags, they are a major source of pollution and just rubbish in the streets. In Chinatown where I live every shop has those pink little plastic bags, almost like they are addicted to them.

  • look at how smart they are. just simply buy a bag for shopping and use it again and again an again and again.

  • well done china, new habits are good but bag tax does indeed create lovely money for governments not doing anything for it...BUT...it also cuts right back on plastic bags which are choking our earth and us to death!

  • So, what is your point anyway.

  • I applaude China for doing this.

  • Government dictating environmental policy is horrible.

GLOBAL WARMING AS WE ARE INFORMED OF IT IN THE GENERAL MEDIA IS MYTH.

  • Where have you been living for the past 10 years or so. I can't believe there are SMALL MINDED people like you out there that think Global Warming is a myth.

  • Where are you getting you science from? The way the media reports global warming is a myth. Read some science journals, instead of government funded reports, or even worse reports made by activist groups.

  • divinejudge1, Let me guess...you were home schooled, Ron Paul supporter? We are never going to turn our country around because we got too many idiots like you.

  • i don't mind conservation, just don't make it policy and force it on people. Conservation should carry cost benefits that are passed on to the consumer. Not something the government imposses all out and stands to profit exclusively from it (rather than industry and the consumer).

  • Wanker. Look around. Feel the temperature, look at the seasons, look at the seas, the air, the erosion et al. I think they call it the environment. You obviously call it the media.

  • Climate change and Global warming are two different ways of seeing what is happening in our environment. Global warming implies it will get hotter and stay hotter (and that this is mostly a human cause).

I don't argue it is getting warmer, but I believe it is a cycle. Polar ice caps are melting on Mars too, so maybe the sun is getting hotter.

  • fuck up.

  • yeah, you are right...you are fucked up.

  • AMERICAN has the serious pollution in the world...

  • Some African country did this like 6 months ago, and i really helped them out. One step at a time, we'll get there.

  • Singapore rocks! I wished that singapore also ban free plastic bags. Each plastic bag for $1, cellulose bags for $0.50

  • So stoked to see this. Wish Malaysia would adopt the same ban. Wish everyone would. Plastic bags are the worst trash and they are littered everywhere in South East Asia. Well, except Singapore of course. -AB

  • Good stuff. This has also begun in San Francisco I hear....

  • I think stores should be able to decide whether or not to ban plastic bags. And customers can choose where they want to shop. But, that's great for China. You need a lot of oil to make plastic bags.

  • I disagree, this is something that needs to be forced on the public. It makes a big difference, and it's not a violation of any consumer's rights, it's so minimal. the bags would probably cost less than a quarter, it's only a noticeable loss in money if consumers never use reusable bags.

  • Chian surpasses Japan, Canada and USA, on Climate change performance

    enough said.

  • Way to go China.....

  • FUCK YOU OIL.... YOU'RE FUCKING PUTTING CANCER IN ALL OUR LUNGS WHEN BETTER CLEANER FUELS HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE FOR OVER 100 YEARS...

HEMP OIL IS A CLASSIC EXAMPLE. Fucking greedy mother fuckers that have ruined our natural environment all for the sake of MONEY. Go fuck yourselves with your crude oil as lubricant.

  • When was the last time you could see blue skies in a largely populated city in China? Soon children will ask their grandparents what trees and clean water looked like and what did fresh air smell like.

  • 我看到袋夫人!如何好玩!

  • 中国很好!

    我爱中国!

  • that works out well, cuz the grocery stores here already want to cut as many costs as possible.

  • Let me guess your voting for Ron Paul if your in the United States?

People like you are amazing, and not in a good way.

  • Yeah, Fish Yu is a kind of pun.

But where are all the China apologists to claim that it's just as bad in other countries or insisting that the pollution is caused by foeign owned companies?

The truth is that so long as the majority of Chinese think like peasants, they will not value the environment to alter their habits.

  • In the UK, I understand we waste over 1billion shopping bags annually. Major chains (ie Tescos) now offer re-usable bags for a very small price (ie 10p) That is good but the idea needs to be promoted A LOT more to the point whereby only re-usable bags are available.

  • China is a huge polluter, but at Beijing appears to be trying to tackle this.

  • obviously its the worlds factory it makes almost everything thats why and its overpopulated too.

  • The issue of overpopulation seems to never get addressed when discussing the future state of this planet. Breeding should be a licensed privilege and not a right. Humans are the most destructive force on this planet and we need to recognize this and prevent irresponsible breeding and consuming habits.

  • China is ahead in protecting the environment before the US. Still sounds strange to me.

  • beijing olympics mate good image for china wich is what there really trying to do

  • Partly. But they also noticed that it costs them billions:

    - the number of sicknesses raises significantly

    - a lack of non-renewable resources limits their growth

  • well in the US, such a motion would get trapped in the beuraucratic logjam that is congress by lobbyists for the plastic bag manufacturers.

because of its totalitarian nature, china is far more capable of implementing environmental policies than any other western nation, something like this shouldnt be surprising.

  • Yes China is more capable to enforce such a law. But during the last 10 years (and before) it was way less willing. This is one major reason western europe is still ahead.

  • true, true, the biggest credit to this change of willingness should go to the olympics which put china's environmental problems under the spotlight and forced the government to change.

in fact, the traffic restrictions during the games were so effective at reducing jams and clearing the air that people demanded they be reinstated after the olympics came to an end.

  • the world blames china for not going green yet it is. while those criticizing are just as bad polluters yet sit on there arse doing nothing (america). Remember China has the worlds biggest budget for green project. wind power, solar power china leads in the fields

  • But the power of the american democracy should overrun the big companies! Come on! You managed to vote for Obama, you'll manage to do this too!

  • "Fish" Yu?? Are you f**king kidding me!?
