Wow, what a wonderful event!!! To see both of these ladies with 60 years age difference racing together is a real miracle. I want to be a part of this race in 2011 for sure. Hats off to Reilly and I hope you both are running in 2011.

I don't understand.  Did the 8 year old and 68 year old beat all of the 20 and 30-something women in the race? Either way, it is a great accomplishment. I just want to know if she was the 1st girl in the entire race or in her age group? Also, not sure why a 8 and 68 year old would be in the same age group. Clarification please.

@26point2madness The race is handicapped. Headstart minutes for girls 8 and under and women over 66 is 25 minutes.

@26point2madness It's a handicapped race, meaning that older and younger runners get a head start in terms of minutes head start. Check out the Bruce Dern movie "On The Edge", it's a fictional movie but the race is based on the Dipsea Race. Great director commentary and "Making of" featurette, too.

@FourSeasonRunner It was all ages, but separated by age group waves.... She beat 1400+ runners. Unbelievable!!!
