I misss shea so much when i was at citi i cried because of it i grew up at shea watching all the mets games there my dad was an usher there i took my son up last season in september to a braves mets doubleheader and i couldnt let it go he was thrilled and i couldnt let go of my childhood

Well as of July 5 The Yanks are one game out of (First in the Wild Card)15 games above 500. The Mets are in third 4 games out and three games under 500. The little Steinbrenners brought in the starting first basemen for the A.L all star team and 2 good starters in Burnett and Sabathia. So i dont know if where on the skid but thanks for the comment and Johan pitched very well against us(15-0).OOOO one last thing nice signings and trades for Perez,Castillo,Livan,and Redding. 1986.. and counting!!!

The stadium itself was very generic. What made shea great was the fans. When the stadium was full it was one of the loudest buildings in the leauge. It was great because unlike citi the stadium did not create class warfare

I agree. When Citi Field is packed, and in a key spot for the Mets, the place is dead silent. I stood up at a game during a key spot and the guy behind me is telling me to sit down! Times are changing, baseball is now a business! It is a shame.

im 16 been going to shea for 12 years. i thought it would last for ever or at least till i could take my kids to it... but that isnt gunna happen. i got to go to the last game. it was SAD. i will miss it. i think citi field has allot to live up to history wise :- im sad to see it go. but it has to . This satdium has no history, it was a fucking dump, they tore it down a week after the season ended because everyone was so sick of that piece of shit. The best moment that stadium every had was Luis Sojo up the middle off Al Leiter. Lets go Yanks

I'm thirteen years old and the first and last time I went to Shea was last April T_T......but that's besides the point. Shea Stadium was a landmark as the original and AWEsome Mets' stadium.....and now it's gone.....but Shea will always be very much alive in our beloved hearts and invaluable memories.... The day I went to the game, it was freaking HOT, and yet I hoped I never had to leave. The stadium was beautiful and........I just can't believe it's gone. R.I.P Shea Stadium, 1964-2009

I cant believe that today could be the final day of shea stadium. Great memories from it. My last time there was on 9/23/08. I got to see Johan pitch a great game and a bases clearing triple from reyes against the cubs. Thank god that i didnt have to see mets bullpen choke.

Tomorrow is going to be very sad, even if we make the playoffs. The last regular season game at Shea. I will really miss the place. Citi Field will be nice, but it cannot replace Shea. My last time there was 8/8/08 and almost cried walking out of it.

I was born and raised near there, went there when they had the orange and blue corrugated tin squares on the outside, went to the 1973 world series, the 86 series, my dad had a chunk of grass from the field from 1969, froze my ass off in December watching the Jets from the top of the upper deck, saw the Mets draw 5000 per game during some lean years, saw the Who,and The Police....and today I'll be back in the old neighborhood taking my 2 kids to their first game.I hope the planes fly low today!!

i will miss shea..... alot of meromies in Shea. That Marlins fight last season, the two world series,Endy's catch, David Wrights bare handed catch, MIke Pizzias debut as a MET, and many more. They shouldn't tear it down they should keep so if they use their  throwback, they could go next store. Right

I hope the NY Jets share the new stadium. I hope the Mets do good this season at the last season at Shea. That will be another memory for Shea and the New York METS. so LETS GO METS. METS 08.
