Do they have the student discount if you buy a mac in the retail store or is it only online?

Yeah i'm a student and when i heard about the black friday discount i assumed i was going to get an addition discount, but no it's one way or the other. you can't get two discount. i don't understand why Apple are very cheap. so i was going to get my macbook pro yesterday, but i changed my mind and wait for the new model on January 2010.

If the discount was $200 on a $2000 iMac (10%), I was ready to bite today. However, at only a 100 dollar discount (5%), I'm going to hold off until an i7 model becomes the stnd top end (and not special order).

Speaking of special orders, I'm always wary of that with Apple. The last time I owned a MBP, I went through 5, yes 5, and returned ea one over 8 months. Lots of issues with build Q and power mngt. I could have just imagined the difficulty in swapping a custom built iMac! No thanks.

More screen real estate for designers = better. The more space you have to play with the more you can do. You become more productive meaning you get more done in less time and as such make MORE MONEY. It's exactly the same concept as having a bigger desk. The bigger your desk is the more you can put on it at once and it's easier to get stuff done without having to go off the desk to pull up what you're after.

1st of all, it depends what MBP you get, because the 17" one has 3 USB ports.

2nd, Mac OS does a lot more than what windows does. Mac OS communicates with the computers components to make sure that it's running as efficient as possible.

3rd, you really just sound like an idiot. If you could get a great computer experience for just $70 for some extra ram, why wouldn't you take it? Oh ya cus you want something to bitch about. Just get the fuck outa here dude

ah, really? I was speaking to a few graphic artists and they all told me that they thought that the 27" was way too much and preferred smaller dual screens rather than the big 27. Which is where I got my opinion from. Since I only use photoshop, I'd be well off with a 24", because even all software aside, wouldn't webpages look super small on the screen with the 27?

Actually it is not THAT big, with the 16:9 aspect ratio it looks just fine curiously enough i happen to be a heavy photoshop user, web designer AND graphic artist and the screen is just perfect (i know about the glossy debate), i know a few designers who actually want bigger screens than a 27" and many of my coworkers have 30" dual monitors so i really don´t think you know what you´re talking about here

cant discount then enough if you ask me! they DO need to bring down the price on the MacBook. The Pros arent HORRIBLE for Mac prices, but could still be cheaper. I don't think price is going to matter cuz if you got the money for a Mac you got the money for one. If I wanted something CHEAP I'd go to walmart and get a PC. I can't wait till after x-mass when alot of USED Macs go for sale! Ima get me an IMAC!

Yes i DO! My MacBook I'm using right now is 2nd hand and it works GREAT! I know how to hack a mac and make it like it has never been used b4 so it will be like I'm popping its cherry! I don't have $1,500 to drop on a computer, but I'll spend 5 or 600 on a nice used one! Thats the great thing about Macs even their used ones are still like new cuz people take care of them and treat them well. Thats why they sell for so much on ebay!
