I am rather surprised to see so little traffic on Polish roads. Whenever I drive there, I find them tto be some of the busiest roads in continental Europe and can take ages just to travel 100kms because there are hundreds of trucks everywhere and no town by-passes most of the time so that you can take a good 45 minutes transiting through a big town.

I have a collection of VHS cassettes from 1988 - 1992 and there is a lot of material I would like to publish here.

However I am having a lot of technical difficulties. I can record to DVD without difficulty but the problem is in converting .VOB files to .AVI that has both sound and picture or to .WMV that does not use a huge amount of memory.

My PC only has 1MB of RAM. We have professional equipment in the office but it is only mac.

Any ideas of how to do this without incurring too much cost?

"Prostitution is legal in Poland" - no it isn't :( Polish prostitutes can't work legally. They don't have insurance, etc. BTW you chose the most boring part of Poland to show. Come to "Malopolska" where terrain os not so flat. Also we have beatiful mountains, and also beatifull sea and one of biggest lake districts in Europe. But i can understand that you see in Poland only prostitutes, and concentration camps. I assume you found it atrractive, that's the reason you show it on YT. Good luck :)

Of course they aren't saint but you have to know that for first: the places where you can meet them are mostly inaccessible for big vehicles, and the truth is that maybe 10/100 (or less) are truck drivers, bigger rest are cars and vans... I'm truck driver and know polish roads very well and belive me I wouldn't risk to get stuck somewhere in the forest...

I am not responsible for the vocabulary used in Poland. But you have a very good point and I would be surprised if many of their clients were lorry drivers.

As for your first question, yes I have witnessed them stopping to talk to these ladies, I did not stay around to find out what happened later.

There is a lot of wonderful things to see in Poland. Prostitution is a problem in almost every country on earth, and in many it's worst than Poland. You really couldn't find anything nicer to show in your video then prostitution and a death camp? I hope your other videos showed a better perspective of this beautiful country.

I am going to interpret your question. How much would it cost today? Diesel uel in Germany (end of June 2008) costs EUR1.40 per litre, in Poland it is EUR1.30 and in Belgium probably somewhere in between. Given that it is around 1,800km and my car burns around 5.5litres/100km then that would be around EUR140 for a one way trip. Plus around EUR40 for the ferry via Norfolk Lines (the cheapest).

The car is more exciting but I think flying + hiring a car usually works out cheaper for people travelling by themselves.

Bear in mind that there are lot of extra costs with cars especially wear and tear and possible breakdown assistance. And for those who can't sleep in the car there is also the cost of hotels.
