@jsrnash12 Umm... although I don't really want to eat a dick, I do get your point. I drove a vstar 650 and a vstar 1100 before I decided what to buy. The truth is that they handle about the same. The 1100 has more power thats true, but anytime you get a new motorcycle you should give yourself time to get used to the bike before going into real traffic. Also, you should never take advice from people on youtube when it comes to a motorcycle, but I think anyone with any common sense knows that.
i am in the middle of buying a 2000 Vstar...from a friend...ive had triumphs & love them but this bike looks and sounds and rides great & for the price theres no way i could beat it..it already has the cobra pipes so it sounds GREAT...cant wait to be rideing again
Thanks. It's been a while since I've visted this page. Not really into You Tube, etc. The bike is great. Made a few other upgrades at low cost that improved overall biker safety.
Glad you liked the video. I might post an update later.
You need to weight the differnece between neighbor friendly and driver awareness. As long as it doesn't backfire you should be fine. Just loud enough to let the idiots know that you're sitting next to them at the stop light.
I have the 2003 1100 custom and was in the mood to change the debaffled stock pipes i have on mine to something a little meaner sounding that let me keep my power(which the debaffling doesn't) I'll have to look into the cobra pipes.
Good stuff! Thanks for putting this up. I am getting this exact bike delivered today and I am already searching for new pipes. The low boy shotguns are on my list! What do you think about the Hard-Krome and Samson pipes?
They all sound good but different. Remember to not have the technician re-jet your carburator. A good mechanic can install with no problems. Much more power and less cost to install. Just remember to disable the auto air intake system.
I have purchased Hondas and Harley's in the past but in 2002 I bought the Yamaha 1100 classic and it is the most dependable bike I have ever owned. The drive shaft and balanced twins make it the smoothest ride around. You can't beat this bike.
I agree totally. Change the stock seats to Mustang which is a BIG PLUS, include the windshield and Cobra pipes, even add a cruise control and GPS mount for your car Garmin for long trips, and you got it. Doesn't get any better for the price.
This was a really good video. The aftermarket pipes sound much better than OEM. And I can respect a person that considers their neighbors when doin something like this. They sound nice but not that obnoxious thing a lot of folk have goin on.
Mgbaxter, do you have to re-jet your bike when you change your pipe? I'm new in bike and have a 2008 v-star 1100, first bike and thinking about changing pipe too. thanks.
I agree. As of this writing I now have over 4K miles on the bike. The pipes still sound good and the bike really performs above expectations. People actually thing that I have a Harley. Sorry, but I just won't spend that kind of money for a name and unreliablity. Hell, I'll buy a Victory first.
@mgbaxter I completely agree about the unreliability from the "harleys" I went on a ride up to vermont with about 150 other bikes, Harleys included. Needless to say by the end of the day 35 harleys came back on trailors. I also have cobra pipes on my 2005 v-star 1100 as well. I recently just installed a Hypercharger, Its well worth the 235.00 for it. A little extra hp and just a bit better gas mileage as well. Either way im just rambling now, Awesome bike though.
I want this video on my WX260 phone.

@littlebbjesus No its not dipshit. Learning on a 600 pound 1100 is a terrible idea. Eat a big fucking dick you want people to die"?

Don't forget to jet the carb when you add Cobras. You will get a lot of backfire if you don't.
