Although it failed to live up to Peter Molyneux's incredible hype, Fable is still by far the best of the three titles. It still has that amazing charm and wonder that the last two just couldn't quite capture. Rather than allowing itself to be compared to Zelda or any other game, Fable managed to be its own game. A collector's item no doubt and a game worth playing.

Fable 1 - RPG, with bosses such as Wasp Queen, Scorpion, Whisper, Maze, Jack of Blades, and that water creature.

Fable 2 - Quest for the missing Gargoyles and that thing was REALLY the final boss!?

Fable 3 - Quest for Golden Keys, Gnomes, and I can't even remember if there was a boss...

Anyone else know where this game went downhill?

@Purenesss In Fable 1 there were also silver keys and shizzle like that... Actually I like fable 3 very much too (havent played 2). I agree that fable 3 misses some bosses rather than fighting the same hordes over and over again.

I think 3 is a bit too realistic to have this same 'magical' ambience... But the music definately plays a big part in this

@Purenesss It went downhill after Peter signed the deal with Microsoft. The original game "Wishworld" was supposed to be a wizard RPG without an interface/"Gamey-game" mechanics and eventually turned into project ego, which was similar in its approach (everything context sensitive, muscles grow as you run, natural fatigue etc). The game still had some of this stuff but it ended up being more of a gimmick than a gameplay style.

Fable & Fable: Lost Chapters were the best RPG's I have ever played in my entire life of gaming. Fable 2 was "fun" but it cannot hold a torch to its predecessors. Sadly i can honestly say there is no such thing as Fable 3. Sorry if i OFFENDED anyone with that comment. :\

And it was VERY experimental. you have to admit the graphics and "realness" is the best they have done yet. But the main thing it is missing that Fable I had is the Nostalgic feeling to it.
